Samsung EVO Plus 128GB Micro SD Card $33.44 Delivered @ PC Byte eBay (eBay Plus Required)

590
PULL5

I was looking for a Micro SD card to go with the Nintendo Switch that I was lucky enough to get my hands on during the eBay hourly deals last week and came across this from PC Byte. It looks like at checkout, the price goes from $40 to $35.20 automatically (12% off). Subsequently, using the PULL5 code brings it further down to $33.44 delivered with eBay Plus, which as many of you know, can be triallled for free for the first month. Hope this helps some people!

      It's free with eBay Plus.

      • +1

yeah, but wait till your trial is over

then you need to be an ebayplus member for life
else pay these rip off $20 shipping fees.

    • +3

Totally agree. I assume the actual card fits in a small envelopes that requires only about 70c for postage? The eBay plus membership is coming in handy

      • +1

Totally forgot about Plus. Deal rescued!!!

        • Too many codes going around..hard to remember..

        • +2

          @solpiry: EBay Plus isn't a code, it's a membership.

      • +2

$20 to send in a small envelope

sounds like these ebay sellers are rorting the ebayplus system.

        • -1

May as well, eBay covers it anyways, we all have the trial so they can lower the item cost meaning we get bargains.

    • did these guys charge 19.95 before this ebayplus started? anyone know?

      • +1

        no

if they charged that much, do you think anyone would have bought it?

  • +5

great to see Pc Byte making the most of ebay plus.

  • Was cheaper 2 days ago at $32.

I wonder how long businesses ripping off Ebay on the Ebay Plus thing before they reign it in? I mean it's nice that Ebay have basically paid the last $20 for the card but I can't see it continuing as they'll lose way too much if too many businesses do it.

    • +2

Yeah, it’s a real shame. That’s why we can’t have nice things; the few ruin it for all

      • -1

        I feel sorry for eBay.

        • +2

Meh, eBay can go to hell for being lazy and complacent. It's business model might be great 15 years ago when only big players can afford to build their e-commerce website. But now every man and his dog can build his own website selling stuff and get Auspost to do the delivery, if they cannot think of anything other than giving seller a cut to get their overpriced items sold then they're doomed.

        • +1

          Why would you?

        • +3

(profanity) eBay, them and their 11% fees.

        • @ronnknee: it's sarcasm

    • how are these ebay sellers getting away with charging a rip off $20 shipping fee for microsd cards
when we know they will send it in a $1 envelope

Is ebay that dumb to just pay for a $20 shipping fee…

Can't see how these sellers rorting the ebay plus system is going to last long.

      • From my understanding, Ebay will refund the shipping for any Ebay Plus shipping as long as there's an actual shipping fee. There seems to be no limit or other requirements.

I'm shocked they aren't selling the cards for $1 but maybe that's too obvious.

But if it keeps happening for a while longer I might pay the $30.

        • +1

yeah that is my point if you read it correctly..

I said ebay will pay the seller the $20 shipping fee…
but how can Ebay be that dumb especially if the item is likely to be sent in a $1 envelope ie microsd cards..

that is why I am saying the sellers are rorting the ebay plus system.

What is stopping them listing items for $1 and a shipping fee of $50 etc..

They will get more sales (from ebay plus members, less from non members), ebay pays the shipping fee for ebayplus members.

I think they are testing ebay to see how much shipping fee they can get away with
          without ebay questioning them
and it seems $20 is what they think they can get away with.

The rorting of sending $1 envelopes for microsd and charging $20 shipping fee
I don't think this will last for long when ebay starts questioning them..

        • +1

@pinkybrain: Pretty sure eBay set the limit for free eBay Plus shipping at $20 or less, hence they all just set their shipping to $19.95.

EDIT: No I think it's any eBay Plus item… yeah weird that they're all $19.95.

        • +1

          @Alzori:

          yes, but my point is

is ebay not chipping in the $20 shipping fee to the seller
and we just pay the item cost?

if the seller sends an item e.g microsd and it only actually costs them $1 envelope
they have effectively made $19 from ebay in shipping fee, which ebay will pay them

So sellers can now drop the item price, which boosts their sales
and still get the same total amount, due to the $20 shipping fee they are charging ebay.

I know that the majority of metro deliveries only cost like $7.95 or something
if you look on Australia post site.

So are these sellers not rorting the ebay plus system?

        • @pinkybrain: Oh I'm sure they're rorting the system. The only way they aren't rorting is if they have some agreement that eBay is only paying them partially for the postage costs, I think this is unlikely.

As to why they don't lower the cost further - why would they when we're lapping it all up at the current price?

        • @Alzori:

well I didn't really ask why they are not lowering it further

What was getting at is, they can rort system even further by

selling items for $1 and charging like $50 shipping fee…

However I think ebay must have set it so $19.95 is acceptable amount (even if it is actually sent in a bullshit $1 envelope item)
but if they were to make it higher than $19.95, then they must prove it…

if in fact ebay has paid the total $20 to the sellers
then we just need to make 3 purchases, which means ebay has broken even on the $59 ebayplus membership people would need to paid next year.

I don't see how ebay would make any money from ebayplus if this is the case

    • I don't think eBay would worry about that for the moment. Considered they offered a few people $30 voucher to "list" $100+ worth of goods (or $50 for $300/$700, depending on the deal they offered), they care more about revenue.

Will find out whether we actually get the vouchers tomorrow.

Also, the real test will come July 1st, where GST kicks in for international items.

      • but if you look at the big purchases these past big bargains
        are all local sellers.

        • Of course. Do you really think those overseas sellers generate enough sales / revenue for feeBay AU? I looked back on my purchases, while I did purchase more bargains from international sellers. In terms of total amount spent, I wasted / burned way more money on local sellers.

feeBay don't really care about local casual sellers. Certain features available big sellers are unavailable to casual sellers, and they can help casual sellers better counter against dodgy buyers. eBay Plus also makes things harder to casual sellers here as the postage trick is unavailable.

At the end of the day, it is fine. Local sellers getting the main bulk of our eBay spending is a good thing. eBay AU need to justify its existence by showing eBay head office the revenue is growing. We can save money on bargains, it is win-win for everyone.

        • @netsurfer:

I don't really know how your answer relates to the first question and other responses…

        • @pinkybrain: Answered your question already, it is about getting sales revenue. eBay knows about those sellers eligible for eBay Plus listings will / can take advantage of that.

The example I gave is that eBay even offered people voucher to just list items. Put it this way, eBay offered me $30 to list $100 worth of items. They also knew I would/could use the $1 Sunday FVF offer. Add that to 5% off voucher or 10% off voucher being offered to buyers lately. All those are not even eBay Plus. Then, you add those eBay Plus deals. Do you think the main objective is for eBay AU to make profit during this time?

Basically, don't worry about why eBay is allowing this. The whole thing is complicated.

        • @pinkybrain: Basically:

          • Shareholders care more about revenue growth over profit. If revenue drops, it shows the company is losing market share.
          • Sales people are measured against revenue brought in, not net profit to the company.
          • Even if eBay waived all the fees, they won't be able to get enough deals done. Hence all these additional goodies left right and center.

The fact they still offer discount vouchers means they still have the budget to do so. Who cares how they decide to burn that money.

  • They still haven’t sent mine, ordered last week. 😕

    • I think quite a few people are in the same boat as you, going by many of the comments on previous deals. PC byte has such a high positivity rating, hopefully they’ll ship soon!

Not happy at all with this mob ordered on 24th June on the same day as I bought some from shopping express.Received the ones from shopping express 2 days later. And the stated delivery date was 28th,29th June.I ordered these to take overseas leaving on July 3rd. Well they didn't arrive I contacted PC byte several times they kept promising they would arrive before I left.
When I found out they were coming normal mail instead of express which I believe they charged eBay for I was so mad at them. Now because I'm overseas for 4 weeks they will be returned to sender after sitting 2 weeks at the post office I believe.
