People used to watch TV in 480p

      • People used to not have TVs at all as well. That is not an argument.

      It's 34" ultrawide. 2560x1080

    • +1

It isn't 1920x1080 stretched over 34". It's basically the same height as a standard 16:9 1080p 27" screen with an added ~20mm on the side, hence the 2560x1080 @ 21:9.

Yeah, but see sk3iron's comment below.

Same PPI as Full HD at 27"

        • -1

Yeah, don't like that either ;)

Be wary that QHD (2560) over 34 will look stretched when compared to WQHD (3440) and you might be better opting for a 29" at 2560x1080 as the pixel density (PPI) is much higher and will look significantly better.

    29" @ 2560x1080 = 95.81 PPI
    34" @ 2560x1080 = 81.72 PPI
    34" @ 3440x1080 = 106.05 PPI

I would recommend the 29UM69G-B which is the same as the 34" listed above instead at 29" QHD.

Do however compare the other 29" ultrawides available from DS before making a decision though.

      3440x1440 for 34" UW

No it won't be stretched it will have black bars on either side. For the few titles that don't support 21:9 nowadays. YMMV but size is way more important than pixel density for gaming IME.

    • Unsure why you think 2560x1080 will be stretched @ 21:9. It's the same aspect ratio as 3440x1440 just at a lower resolution.

Sure, the PPI is lower at 2560x1080 compared to 3440x1440 @ 34", but if you can discern individual pixels at 2560x1080, you're sitting too close to the screen.

Seems like most people in this node haven't actually used a 34" ultrawide screen at the 1080p and 1440p resolutions.

Similar PPI as a Full HD monitor at 27", as it would normally be the same height, just extra width added. If people don't mind 27" Full HD, they won't mind this monitors PPI.

      27" @ 1920x1080 = 81.59 PPI

  • Any g-sync models on sale?

  • How are these for general use and ps4?

    • +1

PS4 cannot utilise widescreen, so either the screen image would be stretched or you will have black bars either side of image.

  • Got this monitor today it is nice screen size , decent upgrade from my old Dell 27 inch

  • Seems like the pictures on eBay are not the same as the pictures on LG's official website, especially the back of the monitor.
Is 34UM69G the same product as 34UM69G-B?
