Great find, I needed a new 5 user Office 365 subscription as my existing one is about to expire :)

    • Same - Best option was Microsoft on eBay with the 20% off deal but I missed that one, and 10% (PIZZAZZ) only brings it down to $85.50

Can anyone confirm if it needs to be delivered? Because it won't arrive before the end of the month…

  • +2

AMAZON20 works to get it down to $62.50 :)

    • Yep. Just used it yesterday.

      • Do they send the code in email or it comes in post?

        • +2

Comes in the mail - Free Delivery

    • Just tried the code but got an error message:
"The promotional code you entered cannot be applied to your purchase"

      • Need to make sure that you're using a new account

  • Office Home and Business 2016 for MAC is $183.2 with amazon20. Man that's the cheapest I've seen it. Not to mention this is a perpetual license, but office 2019 is coming soon as well.

    • +3

The debate between perpetual vs subscription is always there and interesting. But over 10 years effective life of an Office product with 5 people in a household (or shared with 4 other friends), it still works out to be slightly cheaper on the subscription bases if you can get it for @$70 (I've bought my last three years around $70-80). Not to mention the 1TB Onedrive space, multiple installations per person (for multiple devices including mobile) and the free 100 min of Skype calls (outbound) per month.
I think the only way for it to be "cheaper" overall (legitimately, not pirated or through resold MSDN) is if you can get it through your work (home use program) or educational institute.

      • Yeah - Personally I get my office 365 free through uni as I am eligible, but I am unsure about how small business life works and the 'strict' implementation of using a business license. I've seen offices where they still use office business 2011 where support ended just a few months ago. In that case, overall the cost is cheaper. So give or take that's at least five years of usage.

Outside of Microsoft and general discussion of license type, a Standalone Adobe Lightroom for example is still more viable for most professionals if they use older cameras.

Edit - Did a quick check. Office 365 is $13.20 / user / month for annual commitment which equates to $158 / user / year. Basically the perpetual office pays itself overtime. 1TB of OneDrive is good assuming the office would want to implement that as well, but I am unsure how good the Mac implementation of OneDrive is as well.

        • As I was saying: I doubt any ozbargainer will want to pay a $13.20/month/user fee. It gets back to the price here. $80 a year for 5 users is typically the price you find it for on sale (it is stackable too). That works out to be $16 per year per user or $1.33 PER MONTH PER USER. It will take ten years of this to become $160 per user or the cost of a perpetual licence. This is with Onedrive/Skype subscriptions too, so it works out better with the subscription than perpetual overall.
Pretty sure you can find 4 other friends to split the costs to over a year. lol

I believe Office 365 includes updates to the lastest versions

      • It does.. upgraded from 2013 to 2016 for me before..

  • +2

I paid $5 on eBay and my subscription has been working for 2 years.

    • how?? Jealous

    • How how ?

    • same, bought it last month no problem. search for a office 2016. a seller from england.

      • If you don't have admin control of the Office 365 account, then it can be revoked at any point and you can't do anything about it, a risk I would not take. Each to their own.

        • +2

You wouldn't take that risk at $5?

        • +2

They can revoke it 20 times and you'll still be paying less

        • Well if you back everything up locally rather than saving in the cloud you won't lose anything and no one can see your files either. Still cheaper than paying for a Pro license or 365 from MS.

    • +5

That is a dodgy seller at the very least and you're supporting their illegal activities. Most likely this is some sort of internal/MSDN code that's been stolen.

      • +2

Not code. It’s education license. The schools pretty much get unlimited accounts for a set amount each year. Selling any means pure profit and if it is a legitimate school, it may just work for as long as the school is in contract with MS. Still illegal and holds great risk. I believe the admin has the right to reset password + take away any account if needed.

        • I believe they are also able to see your OneDrive files.

        • @elusive: I suppose. But I honestly don’t want to believe it consider there are legitimate student/teacher users want to save their files on the cloud. I hope Microsoft has at least some control over it. Privacy is privacy regardless of where the account is obtained.

        • @allenhori: It might only apply to OneDrive for Business, I'm not sure. It shouldn't affect Home Use Program. I don't know about education.

As far as privacy, this is standard in the corporate world. Emails and cloud storage are retained forever for audit purposes. The accounts belong to the corp, not the user.

  • cheers OP

  • I still get a free Office 365 subscription for free through my university I graduated from 10 years ago! Lots of people here may get the same perk and not realise - worth taking a look!

    • -4

Sounds like you have the Office software suite but not an Office 365 subscription.

    • Office 365 wasn't even out 10 years ago. That probably was Office 2007.

      • +1

Haha sorry maybe I didn't phrase my comment the best. I finished uni 10 years ago and recently logged onto my university student email address to see if it still works (was thinking of signing up for the Optus student deals which require an edu email address). I discovered that they had changed their email service over to Office 365 - when I sign it it allows me to download the Office software suite onto my computer for free - licence paid for by the university.

  • At least this product include Outlook, unlike one of the options that used to be around.

The only thing against these subscriptions is they don't include email hosting.

Can this be used to replace an existing month by month subscription?

    • Yes, you apply the code and this will give you 5 users for 12 months, once that expires it'll just got back to month to month, if that's the option you select.

    • I've stopped using outlook along time ago. Was a pain to use as I had multiple pcs. Has anything changed?

      • Config your accounts as IMAP.
What ever you do in email on one PC will be reflected on all the other PCs and other devices capable of accessing email.

  • Also the Office Home Use Program is still active. Goto the website and enter your work email to see if your company participates. $16.50 at present for perpetual licence

    • If your company uses office 365 you may not be able to use the HUP but instead are entitled to 5 installs for free. You can log in to office 365 and go to account -> subscriptions to check.

Hi guys, just wondering with microsoft business premium, anyone knows where can I buy cheaper rather than $17.49 p.m from MS. Thanks

  • +2

Hmm, I see $115… How do I get down to $85?

    • +2

Same here. I think it's sold out at that price…?

  • +3

Expired/out of stock? I can't seem to see this price when I go to the website.

Never mind, looks like it's back…

    Ok, no, it's gone again!?

  • Whats the difference between supscription office 365 vs office 2016?

    • Office 365 gives you the full Office Suite with Cloud functionality. The version of Office will also be using whatever the latest version issued by Microsoft. Think of this as a subscription software, similar to Adobe Creative Cloud.

Office 2016 is the standalone version of the software - you get no extras like Cloud functionality and if Office 2019 comes you will need to pay again.

  • Yeah I'm seeing $115 when I click the link.

  • So I assume this comes with a year of onedrive? What will happen if I try and stack this with my existing subscription, which is just for 1 user, will it still stack and give me an extra year (maybe 5 users for the immediate year and 1 user for remaining time)?

EDIT: actually, good price on the 1 user one as well! surely that one would stack?

EDIT: can't apply amazon20 code even though I've never made a purchase. Is there a minimum spend? I tried creating a new account as well with same issue. Ah it's $79 minimum hmm.

    • I bought the $66 1 user subscription, thanks. Paid total of $60 after adding some other stuff so that I could use discount code.

  • +5

That went quickly. Saveonit have it for $85:

    https://www.saveonit.com.au/product/key-only-email-microsoft…

    • +1 for save on it, grabbed mine form there also.

    • Looks like they upped the price to $95.

  • What do you guys do when your 1 year sub is up? Just look for another key?

    • +1

      Yep.
Jump on a deal when it comes up and activate when required.
If you don't need all 5 licences, share the licences with family or friends and alternate who pays each year.

      • Thanks, MS started billing me again. Might jump on the saveonit key and get them to refund.

        • +1

Opt out of the auto re sub with MS.

  • +1

Go to saveonit, they always have cheap license, even discounted MYOB as well.

    • Yep SaveOnIt usually has good price and legit. Microsoft once asked for my invoice and was accepted (when getting support).
