Unlikely I'll ever need to use it, but that has never stopped me before. Thx.

A spare is always good to keep in the car with the dashcam ;)

Good to see even stores like this collecting the GST… while it's silly that it's a thing, it's 1000x easier with the store doing it that having to deal with customs over a $1.30 item.

  • The gst is relying on the seller's cooperation that is why Australia is the first country to implement this. It's really up to the seller. And the government can't really enforce the unknown smaller sellers to collect the GST on behalf of the ATO because that would mean more work for them not to mention to discourage the buyers. Also there is a question of whether the seller is going to give those GST back to Australian government after they collect it.

Over 12c I really don't care what they do with it lol. As long as customs don't come asking me for it :) The whole thing is a sham and they've admitted it will cost more to administer than they actually raise. It's just to make buying online difficult so grubby Gerry can sell you some $200 monster hdmi cables.

      • Correct but I think Gerry is just being used by LNP as a representative of their mates.

It's an odd system, the remittance of the GST to the ATO is for all intents and purposes "voluntary". Yes, of course they will need to remit something, but will they declare 100% of sales made to Australia? I highly doubt it.

What international company wouldnt "fiddle the books" when there is zero prospects of being caught, let alone penilised.

And there is also a possibility that the counterparts will use the same scheme to enforce Australian online/off line sellers to do the same. This would mean hurting Australian businesses by jacking up prices. Loose loose for buyers and sellers in both ways.

    • Zapals have had an ABN for years. I think they'll be complying.

Why does anyone think this "TAX" (zapals 10% price increase for all australians) will ever go to the ATO?

    • Because Zapals is an Australian registered business? Very few small Chinese stores get posted here.

  • anyone get a tax invoice ???

  • Yeah nah no tax invoice, no abn on invoice, theft!

  • Sorry i have a old model (2012) macbook air. Will this work on it? Not sure if my MacBook air has USB type C

  • So, this being usb-c, will it actually be able to take full advantage of high speed (100mb/s) micro sd cards?
