PLATYPUS

Greetings everyone, Gearbite have decided to run a great special alongside today's 10% off coupon for this popular product :) I'm under the impression that this is the cheapest ever price for AU stock of this product, and close to the cheapest price achieved overall.

Please note: You must have an eBay plus membership to achieve this price. If you haven't signed up already and want to purchase, please go and sign up for a free trial as per here.

Two choices to choose from here, the AU plug version comes with a C-Tick approved Australian compliant cable which might be better for some, but also a cheaper option available also if you have another cable lying around :)

Main Features: (Thanks to batraobin)

  • It runs on Android TV 6.0 (updgradable now to Oreo) which is easy to enjoy your entertainment time.
  • A high performance of Quad-core Cortex-A53 CPU can play a wide range of games.
  • A Bluetooth voice remote control: Just speak into the remote control and Mi box will search for what you want.
  • HDR 4K H.265 VP9 Profile-2 4K Decoding will provide you with a scene in vivid contrast, color and clarity.
  • HDMI 2.0 is a faster way to send video and audio output to your TV.
  • It also supports both Dolby and DTS encodings which create you smooth and surround sound.

Thank You to TA for the Original 10% off $50+ Spend @ eBay Deal Post

As always, enjoy :)

Thanks OP I have purchased this.

  • Apologies in advance for the dumb questions. Which plug version is everyone purchasing and is there any reason to purchase the more expensive AU plug version?

Also anyone have any recommendations with regards to a cheap and reliable wireless keyboard / remote for the Xiaomi Mi Box 3 and where I can buy it?

    Thanks again!

    • I can't remember what plug versions I've bought, but I just use this and plug it into my TVs USB port, although posts suggest this may not work in every case.

    • It comes with a pre packaged two prong EU Power supply in the box. I decided to just splash out and pay the extra $7.16 to incl the AU power supply to save using a adaptor. The AU power supplied is a 5.2v 2.1amp which are always nice to have and for $7.16 decent value…..if it lasts. Am running it now and working well. Also means I have the spare EU in the box as a backup.

Keyboard: Any USB works. Wireless, I have a Logitech K400 which I like for versitility for PCs, Notebooks and right now in Mi. It has a touch pad and wireless. Paid $30 on sale a while back, These as so many out there its hard to know and a personal choice

Received my two boxes today. The new packaging is really nice (I think they ar trying to copy amazon). I set one box up it was easy .I chose the European versions as they are going to Europe for my family on my next trip. I love these boxes they are so smooth in operation. The hardware feels very good quality too. The voice search
Does not always work well, but I can live with that. By the way the European plug works perfect with an adapter

Warning (or not). After updating to latest vr 8, I experience an issue if unit is connected to a external source eg in my case a Sony Soundbar. I get a HDCP 2.2 HDMI error. Not good especially as my Sony supports HDCP 2.2. In short unit is useless (to me) so be warned before updating. It works fine if I connect to TV. Early days and yet to troubleshoot more but others are reporting same issue. Anyhow thought I would mention as the update may cause issues for some?

Further to my above comment, I would recommend to avoid the update to Android 8 (Oreo). I found menus are more sluggish and the "OK Google" and using voice is really poor compared to Vr 7 which worked well. Stupidly I should have checked around the forums before proceeding with it. Now need to find a method to downgrade to Android vr 7 as the HDMI HDCP 2.2 issue is a major flaw and renders it useless for my needs. Anyone else having issues………

  • Does this play HD Netflix? I heard only official Android TV OS played HD Netflix

    • Yes it does.

  • Hi guys,

Please recommend me a wireless keyboard for this.

    Thanks
(Been tossing around between iPazzPort and air mouse)

  • I've read a few negatives about upgrading these to Oreo. What are the advantages in upgrading?

  • crap. forgot to buy this. oh well, have to wait for the next deal. plus im not a eBay Plus Member. is it worth being a eBay Plus Member?

    • They still have them at same price but rather than 10% off, its 5%…using the "Penny5" code. Difference is hardly worth worrying about….. $4 or something?
