  • What's the difference between WD green and blue SSDs again?

  • +4

This is not a ebay plus item, no postage free.

    • Good point, removed from the title. eBay plus is not required.

    • Thanks for noticing, was wondering why couldn't get delivery price down. Was gonna be a great deal for me otherwise.

    • It wants to charge me $24.95 for click and collect for 2 drives

      • +2

The "Click and Collect" system on eBay is not the same as C&C from a major chain store like The Good Guys or Bing Lee, what's happening is that eBay is letting you choose to ship to a ParcelPoint rather than to your house.

The seller still has to pay a fee to post the item.

(Edit: these are the retailers that offer free click and collect according to eBay. Anyone else not on the list is using the ParcelPoint option, which attracts a postage cost)

        • Thanks - Still a hefty price for either postage or C&C on this item and not much of a saving if you buy multiple items. (40% of the item price).

  • Any of these suitable as a boot drive?

    • +2

Sure, I got the green 240gb on last weeks deal and today put it in a windows 10 machine, seems to work just fine.

      • thanks!

      • Is it much faster after SSD replacement?

    • +4

They're both plenty suitable. 120gb is slightly on the small side but if you're after budget they'll do great.

…also, no you don't need a 300k IOPS drive for boot before anyone says you do…

      • Your PC MUST have a Samsung 970 evo nvme drive. Every other SSD is useless and may as well throw them in the trash.

        /s

        • A drive? I mean, if all you want to do is wait your life away, I guess.

Real PCs have three of them in RAID-0.

      • Thanks!

    • I bought a Green 240gb a couple of deals ago and used it as a boot drive for a little while (2-3 weeks). It was fine for general usage but as soon as you had more than 1 app reading/writing to the drive, the whole OS came to a halt. Eg. I was updating Fortnite and my browser, task manager was lagging behind pretty significantly.

Just changed my boot drive to an intel m2 and haven't had any of the same problems.

Could've been a dodgy drive but thought i'd share anyway!

  • Anyone actually tried the code and got it to work? I have yet to find a store which works with this code associated with PC Byte. Item I tried even had the 20% circle sticker on the product image and still failed to add code.

    • Code does work, Tech mall is on the 20% eBay post, but my postage just went pear shaped. Sorry

      • +1

As above, worked for me as well, nocure still found a good deal. Just a shame about the shipping

        • Thanks for the reply, just realised the cause. Everyone make sure to change your address from USA if you used the previous USA Ebay deal!

  • Are these guys the same as pc byte. Heard somewhere they are ran by them

  • +1

Out of stock!! Just went to grab one.

  • wow that ran out quick
