Logitech can kiss my ass after their debacle with older wheels and new console support.

    • That and it's still selling the same 10yo + technology with a couple of new buttons.

    • +1

OK but the next best wheel is like 500 bucks or so.

      • Worth it though, hell of an upgrade on this.

        • +3

Totally agree if youre going to spend over $200+ on a wheel save up a bit more and go straight for Fanatec, thrustmaster options.

          Or get a 2nd hand logitech g27/29/920 for $200.

        • -2

May as well go full $2k setup then with fanatec and playseat etc.

        • +3

Might as well buy a Bugatti Veyron for $1.5 million.

        • @OnlinePred: If you want to buy the best you won't buy a Fanatec or a playseat, you've done a bit of goigling but you'll learn. The best are the direct drive wheels.

        • @Where's_That_Cake: the best would to be buy a real car and start racing, so perhaps don't spend any money on a wheel and just go for the real thing?

Either way, a t500rs with shifter is over $800 lol

        • +1

@mdavant: Agreed. Where do I swipe my card?

        • @OnlinePred: Sweet, I don't recall mentioning a T500 and shifter but at least you are thinking about proper gear now ;)

        • @Where's_That_Cake: just need a proper budget

    • +1

Agreed, I don't purchase Logitech equipment anymore as well - especially since they wouldn't admit to the G19 causing problems and silently fixing it on the G19s including the BS about not using older wheels on new consoles.

As far as using my old wheel, I had to make a GIMX adapter out of an old Raspberry Pi to use my G25 on my PS4.
Another alternative is to get a CronusMax for people with older wheels on unsupported devices.

      • +2

        I think there's a product called drivehub now that's a perfect 1:1 adaptor.

        • Have you tried it before? I'm intrigued.

        • @HotKgon: no I'm afraid not.

      • What would the difficulty level be for doing the same thing if I don't have any experience with Raspberry Pi?

I've got a Logitech Driving Force GT and recently found that it doesn't work with windows 10 or my PS4.

    • PC is better for sim racing anyway

  • Iv never had a racing wheel before, tried numerous times to get a g27 through ebay auctions but no wins. Thinking of going for a g29, is 340$ a reasonable price for it + the shifter. And is logitechshop have authentic manufacturer warranty?

    • +2

IMO the shifter isn't worth the extra money.

      • Really? It looks fun to play manual and drift etc

        • It's not a good shifter, fully plastic internals. Loud and gears do not slip in well.

        • @Where's_That_Cake: Ah Okay. I might go with it anyways, i dont mind noise as noise canceling headphone. Do they break easily?

        • @yehan77: it's still better than nothing. Get it if it's a good price.

        • @yehan77: I don't know whether they break easy but the shifter quality was possibly the biggest letdown of the whole thing. You're better using the paddles, they were at least pretty good.

        • +1

@yehan77: My G27 is 2 years old and it's perfect, never had issues. yes the shifter is a bit low quality but the alternative is $200 shifter from fanantec / thrustmaster.
          It's better than nothing

    • Btw,I went through Gumtree, and got a wheel, shifter, pedals and stands for $270.

      • hard for me to do gumtree :( live out in the country side

        • eBay for sure. I saw a set go for 220 the other day, and a new Thrustmaster t150rs gt for $210. Just have to be patient. Your can buy new g29 with shifter for $355 regularly off eBay.

        • @OnlinePred: I bid on that t150rs from 100 to 200, it went crazy in the last few seconds. yeah i might get this g29 new for 345 with shifter. is that price alright?

        • @yehan77: I think so yes. Second hand ones can go for more so I think it's a great price.

        • +1

@yehan77: There's a guy in Newcastle on Facebook selling a T150 Pro with GTSport and PCars 2 for $200 if you're in the area

  • i also have the choice to buy from thegamesmen or itsaustralia (logitech shop) . anyone know which one provides better support/if anything goes wrong?

    • +2

      • Yep, they're very good

        • +1
