      All iphones are unlocked FYI

      • We got one of these for a member of my family a while back (paid higher price sadly)
was a telstra prepaid unit and it was 100% locked
telstra wanted 6 recharges ($30+) or $150 to unlock it

Surely they stitched you up then, all iphones post 2015 odd are all unlocked?

Can always unlock here if not

        • +3

You should be able to unlock the Telstra ones for free now. Try here:

          https://unlock.telstra.com/

        • @doweyy:
Yeah they told me they are all unlocked however they still lock the prepaid ones as they are subsidised or something.

Got it unlocked for free anyways.
Used the long time customer card.

Waited 24 hours and plugged it into iTunes and boom.

$446 @ Officeworks So get in for your price beat discount before they fix their pricing…

    • Got knocked back at ow. They said because ones prepaid and the others outright. Their call centre link approved it but on store declined

Harvey Normal have them unlocked for that same price as mentioned by @holdenmg in their post… maybe that’s another avenue?

Cancel that. Price looks like it has gone back up…

$400 for an almost 4 year old phone?

    • +4

yeah but it runs IOS and if that is your eco system its an easy upgrade path, especially if you use iMessage or have apple watch.

the iMessage can be a big deal if family members have apple stuff, especially

we used to use WhatsApp across platforms ….until we found out that Facebook were storing the messages and reselling our WhatsApp details and who we message to 3rd parties ….

    • Yeah I can't fathom this either. I'd consider the price for an iPhone 7 onwards… They are clearly only selling for this price because iOS fanboys/girls part ways with their money easily. This phone was released in September 2014. A lean 1GB RAM trying to run iOS and all your apps… 32GB storage offering marginally better than the 16GB version. That'd all be OK, albeit expensive, but these were never that great…

iPhone 6 and 6s were known for battery discharge and performance throttling issues. I believe Apple modified iOS at the time (2014/15) to try and deal with the issues from these phones. Some batteries were replaced under warranty but any "new" 6/6s shouldn't need that. The "home" button, touchscreen and camera were other known issues with 6/s.

My 6s was never dropped or abused and kept in a tough case; however I had a lot of issues during warranty and after. The battery was replaced a number of times (both genuine and later non-gen), charge port etc. It just never truly ran right and seemed to massively drain battery power, run poorly and shutdown early unless it was really nursed. It was also common I'd lose data (yes, calls and messages gone), and at other times miss calls completely. I suspect the mainboard or memory in the phone was damaged (possibly from the original heat/battery issues fixed under warranty).

In my opinion the iPhone 4/5/5s were much better phones during their day.

Since then switched to an Asus Zenfone with Android 8 and 5000mah battery (instead of 1800mah) and better chipset.

If you buy this, you are basically paying for the Apple iOS, and to be perfectly honest the latest updates won't even be this great on this device.

I get that this is a good price for this specific product, but I don't get why people would buy this.
Android has come a long way and is just as user-friendly as iOS these days.
Only 1GB RAM, lower than 1080p screen and released in 2014 (!).

I have android and the support goes end of life within 2 years ….so version it was sold with and 1 upgrade …. and the upgrade could take a long time ….my LG should have been on Android 8 in Feb, now they reckon August …. reality is August will also slip, so a Oct 2016 release flagship is effectively end of support for Android. But they are cheap after 12 mths of release date unlike apple.

the iMessage can be a big deal if family members have apple stuff, especially, and also the apple watch with mobile support if you are away from your handset, all very integrated unlike Google which changes their direction all the time for messaging …

we used to use WhatsApp across platforms ….until we found out that Facebook were storing the messages and reselling our WhatsApp details and who we message to 3rd parties ….

Which is better? This or the iPhone SE?

    • +3

SE has noticeably faster internals, but smaller screen….

    • +3

SE is 6s internal with small 4” display. So I believes SE is better than 6, unless you want 4.7” display.

    • +2

The SE is better…equivalent to the iPhone 6s and just a better user experience all round.

    • +1

I've used both. SE is much better if you don't mind a smaller screen. REALLY good battery life as well!

  • +6

Get iphone 6S when price is right, it is a lot faster than iphone 6. Both SE and 6S have the A9 processor.

    Wish this was a 6s
