Coal is the future. Burning coal is like burning the future.

      Lucky this isn't coal

      • +1

Its made from coal though, isn't it? Its carbon. My guess is that it a fairly large portion of it is coal dust, that is compressed to form a bead.

        • Some are made from coal, but they can also be made from sawdust or wood.

        • They are made from charcoal, coal, saw dust, and binders. Cheaper than lump charcoal and burns longer.

  • Trying to beat the deal from Bunnings then?

    • More like the other way around

      • +3

Bunnings only sell 7.5KG for $8.88 they don't sell the 4KG bags. This is why you can never price match them!

  • +3

    Bunnings is cheaper $8.88… $1.184/kg vs $1.185 :)

How's that working out for you?

  • This is cheaper than putting my heater on.

        Agreed.

I made some from used milk formula cans, with like 100 holes drilled in each.

Worked amazing… so i thought. Lucky first time. Got sick of failing. Bought the bunnings one. WWOOWW!!

Use a bbq wok burner or a portable gas cooker to heat a chimney starter

I read this as head beads. I thought to myself, "Ooh, this will keep me warm this winter, gotta buy me a lot." hah

  • need a deal on lump charcoal ;)

    • Have been using these since they were $23ish. Wish they get discounted once in a while now that they are up to $27.

      • The heat bead brand lump from bunnings is my usual buy. It's a bit cheaper per kg, in a 20kg bag.

    • Where can we buy that? At woolies too?

Thanks OP. Wife's Christmas present sorted.

Been using these for yonks and used to buy the 4kg bags and really stock up when on special from Coles or Woolies until I discovered the 10kg bags at Big W. They are nearly always cheaper per kg and another interesting thing is that the beads are actually larger than the small bags and also Bunnings boxes of bags(phew).

If you keep an eye out they occasionally come on special at Big W and then you just fill the trolley up with 6 or 7 bags and your good for months of happy Webering.

    • Cool thanks the bigw 10kg bag is still cheaper $0.16 per 100grams compared to the woolies one $0.185 per 100 gram..

Do you noticed that the heat beads goes off??

  • Thanks just bought.
Interesting it wasnt advertised as discounted in the store but scanned at this price.
