Acer Predator X34P Curved 34in WQHD Ultra-Wide 120hz (OC) G-Sync IPS Gaming Monitor $1221.75 @ Sydneytec eBay with eBay Plus

140
PROXY

The cheapest its been, will be under $1200 if you take advantage of Shopback's 2.5% cashback offer. The successor to the X34 currently on sale for $934, this offers slight improvements including 120Hz overclocked refresh rate and is one of the best monitors on the market which almost ticks all the boxes for gaming. I believe there are new models coming out/already out that will cost well over $2000 and offer higher refresh rates but are VA panels. From what I understand IPS is superior but I welcome any discussion on this front as I am looking at upgrading my monitor and am wondering if this is my best bet in the under $1500 price range, or whether the new models are worth waiting for…

  • Good find. I was planning to make a jump to a 30-34" but decided to hold back for a 27in predator XB271HU 144hz IPS. Will you be getting this 34" OP?

    • +1

I'm very very tempted, my wallet is hoping the ozbargain community will give me a good reason not to

    • +2

Make sure you consider what you usually use your monitor for before upgrading. I went from XB270HU to X34, then decided to go back to XB271HU. The X34 is beautiful for desktop use and videos/games that are compatible. But for the incompatible stuff, the black bars on are quite annoying as it's not taking full advantage of the screen size.

  • +1

    this offers slight improvements

Has better image quality, tighter curve and 100Hz before overclocking.

Doesn't tick all the boxes for competitive shooter players eg. lower refresh, no ULMB, too large. But there is no perfect monitor for every type of gaming.

  • +5

In case anyone is holding back on buying a monitor based on refresh rates in the 100 - 165hz mark. I have been doing a lot of playing around with my 144hz Asus monitor and can confirm that there is a massive difference between 60 and 100fps in first person shooters. But the difference between 100 & 144hz is almost unnoticeable.

If a tv had 100hz 4K and okay input lag I would take it in a heart beat over this monitor any time of the day.

I see the advantages of g sync and low display lag of a monitor over a tv but the increased screen size is just too hard to pass up for an even cheaper price point.. it just doesn't make sense to me. Even if you are sitting at a desk just buy a bigger desk and sit a little bit back for what you pay for you will have a much better more immersive experience.

There was a TCL 65 inch 4K earlier I think or something close to that for like same price as this plus $200 store gift card so basically $200 cheaper if you out it towards a good soundboard in the $250-450 range. For almost same price you get 4x more screen to look at and play with, higher res, ability to watch tv natively but lower hz or frames per second.

I know fps is a big discriminator when it comes to gaming but the price premium is not justified especially for a bargain gamer or hunter. I can see loaded customers going for this or higher with more bells and whistles like 4K and HDR but honestly as long as it can do all of the above it is awesome.

When they release one with 100hz or close to it on a sizable decent TV I'm jumping on it because that is for me unless I am photo editing or video editing.

  • Had this for about 4 months, Recommend it over the X34 just for the extra 20hz alone. Game support has been good, however occasionally older games need FOV/aspect ratio fixes to work correctly.

Only downside is black bars on a majority of movie content. But You can either crop it or watch it on an actual TV, which is what i do mostly.

$1200 is a great price, But if HDR matters, wait for the new 200hz VA panels coming late 2018/Early 2019

    • But if HDR matters, wait for the new 200hz VA panels coming late 2018/Early 2019

I bought my 35" Agon 100hz with the intention of it being a stop gap for the incoming 200hz HDR ultrawides. But after seeing the prices of the PG27UQ, i may just hang on to the Agon a little bit longer.

      • The prices are ridiculous, rrp is $2000 in the usa, but the street price will be around $1500 usd, so it should be $2000-2500 aud max here. The $3500 price point is obviously profiteering.

        • The Alienware 34" IPS 120hz had a release price of $2K here in Australia. I initially thought the 200hz would be around $2000-2500 like you, but the Alienware, and now the PG27UQ, leads me to believe that estimate is way off and easily $3K+.

Unfortunately we can't compare direct prices with the US as it's different tax laws, import tariffs etc. Not to mention strength of dollar. It's not fair but it is what it is.

  • I just got a X34. I feel like I should of purchased the 27” 2k 144hz IPS instead. For modern games don’t expect to run everything on ultra and hold 60FPS consistent on this 4K monitor, even on a 1080ti.

    • +2

      x34 and x34p are 2k not 4k.

    • On my 3770k w/ 1070, Doom runs very well, Deus Ex as well. This monitor is not 4k. It's 3440x1440, which is about 60% of 4k.

60FPS is VERY reasonable on this monitor on modern titles.

  • Someone please talk me out of getting this :)

    • Your next best option is the Alienware 34 " AW3418DW so currently, this would be the best value deal as this is the second best Gsync 1440p monitor on the market some opinions may differ but its certainly not far off the Dell. Unless you are willing to wait till the price drops on the Dell to maybe 14-1500ish possibly and who knows when that will be then I would certainly get the X34P especially at this price.

  • +1

Was tossing up between this and the Alienware AW3418DW "JTiger" mentioned, ended taking the the Acer as it is a 8bit+FRC Panel whereas the Alienware is only 8 bit.

$1221.75 with ebay plus PROXY 25% off. Got shopback 2.5% which was $41.27, then also 1634 flybuy points which equate to $8.17.
    So effectively $1172.31

now to figure out what to do with my 2 dell 30" ultrasharps.

    • Did you bite the bullet I'm so tempted to by this? Just not sure I will maximize the use of it.

      • +1

yeah i did. i have 2x dell ultrasharp 30' already, but they only run at 60hz.
in the same boat as you, only way i'm gonna maximise this screen is more gaming LOL

        • I bite the bullet also, pretty excited. Hopefully get lucky in the panel lottery.

    • Hi Mighty-Atom, long term lurker first time subscriber,
Just to let you know I just purchased the X34p however a bit unsure of your math:

      1) Screen for $1221.75 is correct calculating for a 25% discount on $1,629,
however I am unsure if the shopback discount is calculated on the full retail amount (ie a discount of 2.5% on $1,629, which comes to A$40.725 not A$41.27) or if the discount is calculated on the amount after discount, (ie a discount on the $1221.75)
In any case the shopback discount is only now 1% (AFAIK) which comes to either $12.22 or $16.29 depending on the answer to the above paragraph.

      2) Also as far as know you only get 1 Flybuys points for every A$2 spent, so, depending on if the flybuys are calculated on the full amount or discount amount we are eligible for 814 points, or 610 points (worth either A$4.07 or A$3.05 respectively)

      3) Also, can i ask were you got the Flybuys points amount of 1634?

      Happy to be proven wrong.
      Cheers

Also funny, i too used to have Dell U3011

      • Hey there @SovietNKVD
        1. Totally agree with your maths, but for some reason my ShopBack paid me $41.27 for that transaction. The only thing I can think of is it’s calculated on the full price & postage
        2. ebay plus members get double points
        3. Checked my flybuys account on the app

        • Awesome, hopefully I get the same back through shopback also, I just signed up for it to get this deal and also I didn't know that that ebay plus get double FB points, (i just signed up for that also!) so happy days

  • Anyone purchased this got a message that this item has been shipped? I tried to contact them but no response and it hasn't been shipped

    • I had to contact them and ended up just calling the retail store in Sydney and the guy on the phone when through the system and found my ebay purchase,

Item in ebay says shipped however tracking number shows that just the number has been issued.
I purchased yesterday and my delivery is expected on Thurs

Note i Purchased through olcdirect on ebay as they has a shorter delivery time.

    • Same here no response and no message that the item has been shipped should have gone with olcdirec!

    • +1

Hey lexlim86 I just got a reply saying handling time is 30 days! Looking into cancelling the order if that is the case.

      • Is that for Sydneytec?!

        • +1

          Yep

        • @kennyzzz: hi i am about to cancel the item yesterday, but today morning got a message sent it has been shipped. Hopefully arrive soon to melbourne

        • @lexlim86: arrived today at 2pm. so far so good, no dead pixel not too sure about back light bleed

        • @lexlim86: got mine today no dead pixels is a plus. I'm not sure what is acceptable back light bleed have some in the corners

  • I was on the fence whether to pull the trigger on this until I learned today that my favourite game which is 16 years old supports UW-QHD. GG wallet!

  • I was told the same but on the listing it says 3 business days handling time.

Will just have to wait it out.

    • They came back to me last night after I asked to cancel and said it was a mistake and they will ship in the next few days.

  • got mine today… damn that box is huge!!!

    • When did you place an order and who with?

      • thursday night - sydneytec

        • Awesome thanks. I ordered on Sunday night so hopefully I get a shipping notification tomorrow.

  • For anyone purchased this monitor through this deal. after you guys received it if possible please share some time to post a picture of the panel whether has a backlight bleeding yellowish or dead pixel due to mixed review and qc of acer i read on other forum. Also if possible the ability to overclok to 120 hz without issue

    • so done a few tests on mine. happy to say it's looking good.
no dead pixels, overclocked to 120hz no issues so far touch wood
BLB: there is a tiny bit on my bottom left n right corner, less than a 5 cent coin. Normal use I don't notice it

you will need a big desk for this monitor though

      • How about ips glow? Do you find it annoying? I can only see it if i turn off the light and 100 brightness

    • Happy to report my mines running at 120hz with no issues.

I think I've hit the IPS lottery as there is no BLB at all on my unit.

I used to own a PG279Q and that was notorious for BLB.

Once you calibrate this monitor to the techspot settings, it's just perfect.

      Really happy with my purchase.

  • I am hoping i do better with this screen then previous ones,

Had to return 3 x34 screens due to terrible BLB and 2 x pg348q screens for the same reason.

    fingers crossed for the x34p!

  • Hey all,

So after sydneytec telling me my order will be shipped next week, i walked into my house and my monitor was sitting there. It arrived around 2:30pm according to the wife.

I never received a tracking for this item, ordered on Sunday night.

    Hopefully yours arrives safely!

    • +1

same happened to me. No shipping notification, receive it and get a notification shipped the following day ROFL

  • Urgh bought one. My bank account weeps.

  • Hey Guys, any one else have my experience, got the monitor today, did a brief 30 min test (popped home from work to set it up and had to go back).

so positives: 1)120 hz overclock no issue 2) gysync works a treat, Doom looks glorious (lucky i have a Titan xp overclock so still exceeding 120fps) i managed to run the internal benchmark test in far cry 5 however that's all i could do as i had to wait for the bloody Mars DLC to download. Will conduct further tests later

the negatives (potential) 1) unsure yet as to blb and ips glow ect as not had time to calibrate 2) i suspect the screen is a factory refurbish and not brand new, even through it was advertised as new .The reason i suspect this is a refurbished model is due to 1) Additional non acer sticky tape around the box, 2) the stickers on the monitor itself being on backwards ) the speakers in the monitor are obviously faulty (cracking?/istorted) and 4) the age of the screen, panel being manufactured in Jan 2018.

so can anyone else tell me the date of panel manufacture for their screen (info is on bottom of bottom bezel on screen)

    my info is:
    Model Number: x34
    Model version X 34 Pbmiphzx
    Panel number UM.CX0SA.P02
    Manufacture date: January 2018

Appreciate if others can post their info.

    Cheers

    • hi i got the same model and number and manufacture date, but i dont have non acer sticky tape around the box

i feel my one looking great. i am not really sure with the bleeding, but i dont detect any yellowish so far (run the test on here http://www.lightbleedtest.com/#). its just the glow that i am bit concerned when i turned of the light and set the brightness 100 percent

    • Mine says Jan 2018 however mine did not have any additonal stickers on the box.

If in doubt just return it?

      • Random question but did you guys get a HDMI cable with yours?

        • My one doesn't have and for information my one was sent from oaekligh south Victoria not Sydney ( i am in Melbourne btw) i thought it should come from Sydney as the company called sydneytec

        • strange, if i recall mine was missing a HDMI cable.

    • The additional sticker backwards is so when you display it and flick it over, it won’t cover the screen, I was like wtf?! But when I peeled it off I understood how it worked, also there are a few unboxing on YouTube. I didn’t have any Acer tape except for two on the two tabs to open the box

Post 3155. that is my panel picture on 100 percent brightness in dark room no light (I cant see it if i turned on the light). Anyone got the same condition as me? or better or worse?
