SPG Points - 35% off Purchases of 5,000 Points or More

70

I was just under 6,000 points short of paying for a 4 day stay. Paying the SPG rate (better than Hotel comparison sites) would of been about US$254 for the additional nights. Instead purchased US$136.50 of additional points to cover those nights (US 2.275 c per point).

Considering how hard it is to purchase SPG points privately, looked like a good alternative.

Edit - Did this on my mobile so didn't end up getting cashback, Doh! Up-to 6.5%!

Yes I reckon we'll not see this kind of promotions after 1st Aug when SPG is merged with Marriott.
Might be the last opportunity to stock up SPG points.
Off topic - has anyone redeemed the 7 night Marriott travel package this month? Is it the best time to do it or should I wait till Aug when they merge?

    • Problem is 30k points per account per calendar year and can't purchase points until the account is at least 14 days old.

There's supposed to be announcement for the travel package mid July so the news are imminent. I've got a current Cat 9 cert sitting here so if Cat 9 can book the 'new' Category 8 properties then happy days for me.

      • I wish I have enough points to redeem a Cat 8 or Cat 9 certificate. They will be really handy when the program is merged.

        • Just buy the points and upgrade. I upgraded my cat 1-5 7 night to a cat 8 by buying 30K SPG points. 10K SPG per category.

        • @starburstyellow: Does this workout cheaper and how do you upgrade? Do you have to call Marriott?

        • @starburstyellow: Good idea I might buy 30k SPG points tonight.

  • Depends on your booking I guess, Singapore has a night for $150 or 10000 points so more expensive using points
