      @TristanJ

As stated above, from my experience/observation/communication with Telstra, the lowest this mobile plan can go down is $39 per month. A technical limitation due to their system.

However, there is a way to bypass the system and give you "an effectively" $29/month plan. "ASSUMING you are able to convince Telstra that you should only be charged $29/month plan", then all you need to do is CONVINCE them to give you a one time credit in advance of $240 ($10 X 24 months). It will be itemized as "Mobile Account Adjustments", thus effectively bringing down your plan to $29/month.

You will need a STRONG case to justify your request. Ordinary Telstra operators from Telstra 24/7 App or 13 22 00 Telstra Phone Helpline might be unwilling or unable to help. You will need to go through Escalation Complaints & Resolution Team at 1800 241 787 (based in Philippines). And you can't just call the toll free number. There are two separate teams in Escalation Complaints & Resolution.
Team A deals with complaints lodged via email (https://say.telstra.com.au/customer/general/forms/Email-Comp…)
Team B deals with complaints lodged via TIO (Telecommunications Industry Ombudsmand) 1800 062 058

You will be assigned a case manager, you can call him or her directly (you will be given his/her direct extension) and a complaint case reference number. Needless to say Team B has a higher authority to swiftly resolve any complaints.

P/S: I am not saying you will definitely be able to reduce your monthly plan to $29. That entirely depends on your case and how you justify it. Why do you believe you should be paying $29/month?
      - Maybe you were mislead by a new/inexperienced JB-Hifi/Telstra representative and they lead you to believe it was a $29 plan
(it will help your case strongly if you have any written proof)
      - I know of someone who managed to reduced his monthly plan as part of his compensation. Telstra created his account but "lost his account". They could not find his account for a week or so. It turns out, the person who created his order had wrongly assigned his account as "Business Account" instead of "Personal Account". Due to all the confusion, frustration and to avoid further embarrassment, Telstra agreed to compensate him for his troubles.

Wow, thank you so much for such a comprehensive reply!!

You don't get this sort of information freely from any source.

Well I was mislead about the inclusion of the Foxtel Now Starter Pack for 12 months ($10/month), but I am already compensated with 5GB's of extra data.

        Hmmmm…

  • No, what I am aiming for is:-
"Valued Customer Bonus" $20 credit per month
    AND
"Go Mobile Plus Special Offer" $10 credit per month

So far I only have the Valued Customer Bonus $20 credit per month.

I just need the right approach to gain the Go Mobile Plus Special Offer $10 credit per month.

We are "friends and family" of Telstra afterall.

    Ozbargain made me do it.

    • I think you've already got the "Go Mobile Plus Special Offer" $10 credit per month.

The original plan is $69 and it gets down to $59 with the "Go Mobile Plus Special Offer" automatically applied. Have a look at your bill :)

  • I checked my bill. It says "Go Mobile Plus BYO Plan - $59".

Will ask if I can have the "Go Mobile Plus Special Offer" $10 credit per month applied once I figure out a good reason why I should receive it.

Already getting Valued Customer Bonus" $20 credit per month.

    • Since how long you are Telstra customer?

Thanks @TristanJ. I managed to get $39/month + 20GB after following your advise. Much appreciate it.

  • I actually signed up to this deal back in March 2018
