  • My understanding is that GTX1070 Ti performance is near as makes no difference equivalent to GTX 1080? Makes the $560 price pretty good.

Extra $30 or so for a 1080 though.

      https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Inno3D-nVidia-GeForce-GTX-1080-H…

But yes, for those who are concerned about which to get, 1070ti is super close to 1080

      • 5% increase in price for ?% increase in performance? Maybe worth it if it was a decent 1080 OC?

Plus, that card doesnt have 3 fans, nor RGB :-)

        • After a quick google, it seems that the 1080 is about 7-8% better for performance than the 1070Ti. Not sure about Inno3D as a brand though

        • @Sir Flabo: Inno3D is a fine brand who have been doing GPU's for a long time. They're at the lower end of 1080s But still maintain good quality.
They're built with large ranges in mind.

But I guess the little bit extra power is worth the extra cash to me due to work related strain that is put on the gpu

        • Depends on what do you what 3 fans for. Gigabyte Gaming 3 fans are worse than MSI Gaming X 2 fans for instance, and I do own the GTX 1080 G1 Gaming with 3 fans. Of course they are all silent, and how much OC is more silicon lottery.

        • So you want slower performance with noisy fans and lights.

        • @Diji1:
Sorry, the :-) was supposed to indicate some sarcasm… neither of those things are important at all to me. Just most of the 1070TI I have seen seem to be factory overclocked to perform quite similarly to some 1080's, so I don't really understand why the 1070TI exists at all.

        • @pinchies:

I don't really understand why the 1070TI exists at all.

Because Vega 56 benchmarked favourably to the 1070 at times, so Nvidia wanted a card to beat Vega 56 for those who wouldn't drop the extra dosh for a 1080. Their binning process clearly accommodated for this, so why not release a card that can take some marketshare from AMD.

I read that GDDR5x was in short supply. NVIDIA needed to use all the GDDR5x in the 1080Ti as that has a higher profit margin. Hence they created the 1070Ti to make up for the shortage of 1080s

          @trongy:

to make up for the shortage of 1080s

Bro.. the GDDR5X in the 1080 made it complete AIDS due to the mining inefficiency. 1070s and 1080s were selling for literally the same price before the 1070ti released and cryptos hiccuped.

        • @airal3rt:
Sorta, NVIDIA wouldn't allow factory overclocked 1070ti's as they'd soundly beat the 1080 and they want all the old stock to sell.

Kinda like the XR6 turbo vs the xr8, can't humiliate your flagship can you ;)

Glad I sold all of mine for around this price 2 months ago.

  • This or $675 for Asus ROG Strix 1080?

    • -5

depends on your rig, 1440p go with the 1080 if you can.
TBH pc gaming has way to many hackers these days

  • Is it worth the price? Given the new series is coming?? Which one should i get yea? I am contemplating haha

    • Depends on a number of factors. What resolution are you playing at? Do you want the solid 144/165hz or is your monitor G-Sync to handle the dips to 60-80 FPS? What CPU are you pairing it with?

      • 144 with 1080 lol… yeaa i hope i can do 60 fps at least. i am using old CPU atm (I5 4690k)

        • You overclockin that bad boy? I can get mine to 4.5ghz.

    • +1

The same $500 is going to get you more FPS in a few months time. Also, the resale value of this card will drop hard in a few months.

Unless you need a card right away, it’s compelling to just wait a couple of months.

      • Thanksss! I guess i can wait hahaha!! Saving more then!

Wow this is the first GTX 1070 I've seen cheaper than when I purchased my 1070 back in September 2016… crazy stuff
