No ATM Withdrawal Fees @ ANZ, Commonwealth, NAB and Westpac ATMs

22129

A reminder of these awesome deal and deal from almost a year ago, when CBA announced that they would drop ATM fees and the other big banks quickly followed suit.

There is no need to go around hunting your particular bank's ATM when you can find any of the big four banks'. This has been very convenient since.

Edit: I understand that a part of our community are with ING, who already get free ATM withdrawals from any ATM, and therefore this deal is not applicable to them. This deal appeals to those who do not have an ING bank account (or other banks with fee-free ATM withdrawals), cannot easily fulfill the monthly conditions (ie. $1000 monthly deposit and 5 x transactions) or financially better to bank with someone else due to mortgages etc. They don't have to do anything and immediately have access to a wider range of ATMs for free. While this deal does not benefit those who have ING as their main bank, it does not mean that this is not a deal.

      • Your best deal is at a big 4 bank?

Maybe it was the best deal when you started (even though it is not likely).

If you have just stayed around, it is very likely the big 4 bank deal is no where near the best.

        • It was at the time due to unique circumstances. Fixed loan (2 yr) is going to expire in October and we'll go back to our mortgage broker.

Let's post more things that are the normal price.

    • +23

There's also no transaction fees at Coles or Woolies! What a bargain!
You pay $25 for your shopping and guess what, $25 comes out of your account.

      • +5

Are you serious?? Post that as a bargain!!

    • Let's post more things that are the normal price

Why not? If anyone can tell us where or how we can buy a 30c come from Maccas for 30c, I'd expect it to make the front page.

  • +1

Still a good money or time saver, but I notice a lot of the servo's that used to have ANZ atm's have switched to the generic $2.50 charge atm's.

  • +4

TIL that accessing your own money from an ATM without fees is a 'bargain'

  • Thanks for posting this reminder OP. I missed the news back in 2017.

  • -1

It's not a Bargain though is it?
    Mods should move to forums.

FYI: ING is free everywhere including expensive club/casino atms

    • +10

It's a reminder deal same as this https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/390651

There are still heaps of people that have no idea about these free ATMs.

Usually at shopping centres there are a few big 4 ATMs together and I see everyone lining up behind ANZ while CommBank or Westpac are not being used.

      • Amazing how many people do not watch the news or read newspapers and have no idea what is going on in the world. Some I know are even proud of themselves for avoiding all the bad news but how do the learn about food recalls, new vaccines or no fees at ATM's.

        • +1

          So true. Stay woke everybody!

  • Sounds vaguely hail corporate.

  • +3

Macquarie Bank Transaction Account. You don't pay any ATM fees on any ATM in Australia.

    Specifically:
Free access to any rediATM and enjoy a refund on fees incurred at all other ATMs in Australia.

  • +3

    Covfefe

Update: If you see that my post has any relevance with the deal, you will see that this deal has relevance to the OzB community. If you don't see any relevance to the former, there will be no relevance to latter.

    • +4

Lmao username checks out so much

  • +6

Was good to post the first time but I hope we're not going to get this posted every 6 months.

    • Every month instead then

  • +1

You can get free withdrawals at any Coles and Woolies, even Maccas do it.

  • Just as a reminder, Coles ($100 limit) and Woolworths have offered fee-free withdrawals at their EFTPOS terminals for a number of years.

  • Surely anyone with half a brain knows this already

people using a bargain website would know where to get fee free ATM use.

    • +5

Surely anyone with half a brain knows this already

Well, you have just excluded 90% of the population. So this post is very very relevant to the mass of mankind.

      • 90%?

  • +1

I for one thank you as I had completely forgotten this since the last post. Cheers.

  • +1

Isn't ME Bank also providing refunds for all fees paid at any ATM in Australia too?

    • Yes, it is.

    • Qualifying for ME Bank benefits is even more cumbersome than qualifying for ING's

      • +1

What do you need to do to qualify for MEBank's benefits?

AFAIK there is no qualification criteria for MEBank - only that you need to wait 30 days for an ATM refund (which is annoying in itself)

  • +3

Sorry I have to agree this is not new news and hence not deserving of a new post.

  • +12

Seems like this is a rort for fake internet points.

    • +2

      Agree

    • +3

Fake? You calling Ozbargain votes fake?! My last 9 years of votes are meaningless?!

  • +2

Also, everyone should remember that on bottom of coles receipts, there is a fuel voucher on the bottom.

    • -1

Wow I never really noticed that.

      Do woolworths have the same

      Lol

  • So when will the other atms like once’s at casinos or convenient stores come into effect?

  • +2

ING are much better, they even do international.

I went to Colombia recently and with $6 per ATM withdrawal, I received $60 back from ING during my holiday.

    • +1

ING is not the same thing though.. but yes, agree it is better.

  • ☣️ toxic deal

  • +2

It's possible we could have a reminder deal subsection

  • Thanks for the reminder OP .

  • +12

What next? Just a reminder that the drinking fountain in the park down the road is free…

    • Nah whats next is the free one time use plastic bags from ColesWorth.
      Oh wait no whoops

    • You mean the public bidet ?

  • -1

Pretty soon ATM will be endangered species like Pay Phone, so no deal.

  • -1

    So many neggers

    • +15

      Racist.

      • +1

Lmao took me a bit to get.

        • +1

I read this your comment + Hexo's comment 24 hours ago and thought about it for 10 secs. Didn't get it.

Read it again now, thought about it for 5 secs. Got it. Pos'd.

  • +1

Congratulations on the most controversial post in a while.

    • -1

21 reports and 35+ negs… mods must be on a boozeup

      • Yeah the boys

      • +1

Nah - they love these debates as it drives traffic through the site = more ad revenue.

        PS - not a "bargain" = neg

        • Can't "not a bargain" be no vote/neutral?

        • @illumination: How about not the cheapest deal available as you can get 50c for using cashout?

        • Exactly. Generates ad revenue for them.

      • 47 negs and 22 reports..

        • +1

Then they just removed most reports and chunk of negative votes with no System messages or comments then left the post in bargains section. <slow clap for mods>

  • Note that not all cards get away fee free. I deposit $$$ into my Velocity FF Global Wallet debit card then earn points when I shop with it. However, all ATM withdrawals incur a $1.95 fee!

    • +3

That is the card issuer charging you the fee, not the ATM owner.
If you stick your CBA credit card in CBA atm, ans withdraw cash, you will be hit pretty hard with fees. It won’t be any different from using that same card at the other big4 bank atms though.

      • Oh, ok, thanks!

  • Good deal. Just saved money with this. A+++++++

  • +2

Please STOP people from posting these repeating deals, otherwise what is the meaning of the existence of this website?

    • +1

You mean what is the meaning of the existence of the meaning of this website's existence?

  • +2

Not a deal, never been a problem with the fees

    • You saying you can't remember their fees or you didn't care about their fees ?

      • I just withdrew at a bank branded atm. Literally banks make so much money they put a branch in almost every suburb. in my suburb alone there is more than 10 banks.
        2 commbank
        1 suncorp
        1 bank west
        1 nab
        2 anz
        1 westpac
        1 st george
        1 bank of china
        1 bank of sydney
        1 hsbc
        1 queensland sort of bank
There is 13 and I'm pretty sure theres more. You can also cash out in many places. Not a deal. 5 minutes walk to these banks.

        • +2

Not all rural towns have your choice of transaction free atms. my "major" one that I had an account with literally for decades left some time ago. Many places you have no choice but to use fee charging atms. I think a lot in larger centres don't realize this.

      Yep.

    • +2

      lol what's this mean?

      • +1

His been a number since 18/05/2008

  • +4

This is about as silly as everyone who posts 5c discounts on each item listed on ebay.

  • +1

People are still pos voting this

    • They are the positive people

  • All this means to me is that ING don't have to pay $2 to a big bank. So it makes no difference to me at the end of the day, and is also something that I'm already aware of and have been since the media coverage at the time this happened.

  • Not a deal, doesn't belong here.

  • Ok

  • +6

Now should I do a post for free incoming calls on mobile phones and no roaming charges within the country ?

    • +5

Don’t forget free air at participating petrol stations.

    • Funnily enough, that would actually be a deal in some countries where incoming calls are charged lol

    • I'll upvote it

    • Were people ever charged for incoming calls?

      • In Singapore, it used to be that way on some plans.

        • Still is the case on a small number of plans!

  • +4

Wow I feel compelled to leave a comment here just to show I was here😃

  • Thanks op. I withdrew 1000 dollars. Any bargains to spend on?

  • Not a deal in in humble opinion. Macquarie has free withdrawals domestic and international. Macquarie also has the best app.

    • That's not what this deal is about though. This is about getting free ATM access regardless of which bank you have money with.

Yes, you could say "go open a Macquarie bank account", but say for example someone with an offset account with NAB who would want to keep the majority of their money with NAB, it also means having to keep a small amount of money with Macquarie to be able to withdraw money from other ATMs for free - a slight inconvenience (albeit a small one)

  • Does ING account to ING account (different name) count for $1000 monthly?

  • Not a deal as it has become a standard practice for the big 4. It is not like they removed the fees recently or like they are going to charge them again and this is a limited time offer.

    Maybe try the forums?

    • Who says they won't charge them again soon?

      • +1

To be clear, I'm not arguing about whether this should be posted or not.

I'm wondering how long the big 4 will continue to offer free ATM usage :S

  • Reported, insufficient quantity

    • Haha what if it was the big 5?? Dunno who the 5th one would be though
