I have never owned a Apple phone, but it seems like a popular device.

Apple is arguably the biggest company in the world and iPhone is the most popular smartphone in the world, despite being overpriced. Hope you didn’t just realise this ;-)

Let's do a quick google search

Top 10 largest companies in the world of 2017:

        1 ) Wal-mart
2 ) State Grid Corporation of China
3 ) China National Petroleum Corporation
        4 ) Sinopec
        5 ) Royal Dutch Shell
        6 ) Exxon Mobil
        7 ) Volkswagen
        8 ) Toyota
        9 ) Apple
        10 ) BP

        (Source : https://www.marketing91.com/top-10-largest-companies/)

Arguably speaking, Samsung has 20.5% market share. Apple has 14.1% market share. Huawei / Xiaomi with 10.5% share.

Samsung also make phones for $50, which would give them a bigger market. Being the best of the worst isn't something I'd be bragging about.

        • @PainToad: only one company makes Apple phones so they are also the best of the worst :D

        • Depends how you define largest. By market cap, Apple is #1 by a big margin.

          @PainToad:

Can't say I've seen a $50 Samsung phone outright so I'm assuming you mean network locked and I appreciate that you get what you pay for.

While I wouldn't use a lower end phone myself, not everyone can afford an expensive smartphone. I'm sure there are people in developing countries where a $50 phone would allow them to connect to the world like never before and open new opportunities to them.

Perhaps a mother or father whose children have relocated to the city a budget smartphone is a way for them to stay in touch with loved ones, and this is what technology should be about - connecting people and making life easier.

As I tell my co-workers, love or hate a phone brand, competition is what keeps prices down. Can you imagine a world where only one manufacturer made phones? Just think of the markup!

I switched back to iOS with this phone this year, for the first time since my iPhone 4. In-between this, my phones were some Note 4 knock off, Nexus 4, Xiaomi Note 4G and a Nexus 6. I'm loving the SE. Pocket rocket.

    • They hold their value. Prices have not fallen appreciably in years.

Phone is a bit small for my liking though.

Is the Huawei 360 any good?

    • +1

I have one, great for getting neat 360 videos/photos on my trip through asia, but the let down is it's resolution for still photo - final photo is about 5*3k resolution for panorama.

Alternatively the raw files can be uploaded into Photoshop if you have 360 photo editor and can help with final picture.

Videos taken and uploaded to Facebook are automatically 360 videos, no editing or fixing needed.

Continuous use for about 10 minutes will drain battery and starts to warm up on my Huawei P9 phone, but I presume its due to data transfer/powering of dual 13MP cameras via USB C. Lose about 1% of battery per 3 minute of video shooting

Only issue is if you have a case on your phone thicker than 2mm, you'll need to remove it as the usb-c port won't fit fully into the phone.

Final view: For the price, its value and good for getting 360 photos, the app that comes with the camera is good, allows fish eye, little planet, panorama, gif editing and a bit more. If i recall, the alternatives are like instagram's 360 camera which is in the $200+ range.

      EDIT: Insta360* - prices are $150 now.

      • What's the res/quality like on the insta360?
