NAVIGON MobileNavigator Australia 50% off - $44.99 for a Short Time

340

Navigon iphone app now only $44.99 for a limited time, it was still $89.99 yesterday. Tomtom app also dropped $10 to $79.99.

I couldn't choose between Navigon and Tomtom, but after seeing the price difference I decided with Navigon.

No idea when the sale ends, so better get it quick before the price goes back up =)

also if you get itunes cards from BP, they are 20% off at the moment. So even bigger saving!

I have both of them, Tom Tom is much better IMO

    • I don't think it's much better. I actually like MobileNavigator more.

    • I prefer Navigon, much, much more.

I got both too, but I prefer navigon better

Navigon comes free with the Samsung Galaxy S ftw ;)

    • +1

Free on the Galaxy Tab too. Overall not a bad navigation app, especially when its free :D

    • yeah!

  • TomTom is much better…agree with hongsuk012

Metroview is much better value than these options IMHO…

    http://itunes.apple.com/app/metroview-australia-gps-navigati…

only $18.99 (that is the current regular price for it…)

    • +2

      its a shame thats s#$t..

      • +5

        what do you mean ???

I've been using it for a few months now and it's great…

Sure, the interface isn't as polished as TomTom, but it still very good, has excellent features, and very frequent map updates… And best of all, it is really cheap

Also, the developers are active and very helpful on Whirlpool

My Tomtom GPS is now gathering dust at home…

I totally agree with JV, Metroview rocks for what you pay for. I got it at $15 a couple of months back when it was on sale, well worth it. I did check out the Whirlpool thread you posted before I bought it, and thought it's the best $15 (for me ~$10 because I got some discounted itunes gift cards) I spent on an app!

Wow, I didn't know GPS app that cheap. Best of all it's locally made and developer actively support - according to Whirlpol.

Cheap, local make, great support = win.

      Together with BP's 20% itune , it's a no-brainer. Shame I don't own an iphone. Does this work with ipod touch 4G?

  • metroview is great, free map upgrades, regular updates and on whirlpool wou can actually speak with the developer

    • -3

wou can actually speak with the developer

      Really, I've only posted comments… I wasn't aware you could speak to them… ;)

      • You can have a chat to them and actual request things to be added, if alot of users say thats a great idea they implement it, seen it happen a couple times which is awesome. Its how developers should be

  • Navigon is much better. I own both (stupid friends giving birthday present without asking) and Nav is way better than Tom Tom. most annoying thing on Tom Tom is street name never work

    • most annoying thing on Tom Tom is street name never work

If street names never work, I'm sure TomTom would have fixed that by now…

      • +1

unfortunately not. I keep my app updated very often :(

  • wow a smart ass, how cleaver

    • +4

      Clever perhaps?

  • +3

all these arguments will be futile once Google Maps releases there free GPS.. lol

    • possibly…

    • -3

Its already released, in 3D no less, oh wait… its on Android, not on iPoo.

    • When…..?

Been using this for a year now probably once a week on average. As usual these type off apps rip through the battery. This has easily replaced my navman. Perfect for occassional use that's for sure and especially at this price.

I upgraded to the in app upgrade of panorama 3D when that was half price and makes the mapping look grouse.

There is also another in app upgrade for live traffic but have no need for that so untested.

Lane guidance was included in last update.

  • Pararama 3D and Live Traffic bolt-on's are half price too I think.

    • Thanks. For $15 I will give live traffic a go even though I never drive in peak hour.

  • Just want to know if this Navigon has redlight camera /speed camera / school zone with correct time ?
(not sure if that they means by "Speed Assistant with adjustable audio-visual warning")

    • +1

School zone operates 24/7. A bit annoying (don't they all do this??)

You become very familiar with the phrase "caution, traffic control" every time you go past a school, red light camera etc.

      • +1

Metroview's school zones only warn during school hours, but this includes school holidays as well.

        Still better than 24/7 IMO.

In short, I think the price is good - so I would say this is a bargain.

I've used both Navigon (inc. latest version) and TomTom (inc. latest version) on iPhone. I think they're both pretty good overall, but I prefer TomTom. Reasons are :-

    • +TomTom maps are fairly reliable (except in Sydney CBD when it continually told me to turn right, when I couldn't)
    • +TomTom speed cameras and redlights work well
    • -TomTom user interface is clumsy (eg. three clicks in three different locations to cancel a trip - ie. unsave when driving)
    • -TomTom usage of points of interest is mediocre
    • -TomTom spoken instructions are ambiguous and sometimes I take the wrong turn.

    • +Navigon user interface is very slick. Minimal clicks for most key functions (eg. two clicks to repeat a recent trip!!) Trust me, when you're driving, every click counts

    • +Navigon uses points of interest very well (eg. when you enter an address it summarises the points of interest near there, so you can go to that point of interest)
    • +Navigon routes are clumsy (eg. they send you the wrong way too many times - it's gotten better with the last update, but I'm still gobsmacked why it sends me 180deg in the wrong direction at times)
    • +Navigon speed cameras/redlights don't stand out to me when i'm driving.

    Hope the review helps.

  • Does this Navigon app have a lifetime free subscription for map updates or do you have to pay a small additional fee each year?

    • On occasions when Navigon do an app update they include the latest map data.

  • I've never used TomTom, but this app is pretty good. I use it regularly. It's worth it, especially with a discounted iTunes card. I've ditched the real satnav for this app on my iPhone.

  • installous ;)

  • Been waiting for offer for quite a while. Thanks yeh

  • Yummy panorama view 3D eye candy. :)

  • TomTom Aus app has never been on sale - well anymore than it currently is - so it's quite a lot dearer than Navigon. Check out http://appshopper.com/navigation/tomtom-australia

  • I've got the Navigon and then I foundout about the MetroView. Now I regret why I paid so much more for Navigon when Metroview is same or in some respects better than Navigon and LOT Cheaper…
Personally I'd suggest try MetroView first its dirt cheap if your not happy then go for Navigon as still this is not bargain price compared to how much you would pay for Metroview without any discount.
