  • Let the price war begins!

    after $30 Cashback

will they honour the cashback if it's from the ebay store though?

    • "Please note rep has confirmed that for the purposes of the cashback claim, K.S Computer Technology = Futu/SE."

      • -4

Will 'Samsung' honour the cashback though?

        • +1

They also email you a different invoice with KS computer technology on it after you order I think (happens with all orders)

        • -1

          @Reidyy123:

          thanks

        • @Reidyy123: Yes, but will 'Samsung' honour the cashback though?

        • Yes but is Kai Seng Computer Solution Pty Ltd the same as KS Computer Technology? Can it be declined?

          Please confirm

        • that's the catch the name does not match on the list

  • +1

Another day, another SSD best price ever deal.

    • +2

      Best wait then…

  • +1

    Where is this useful?

    • +2

In an NVMe slot on your motherboard.

      • +4

        M.2 slot*

    • +1

If you run out of sata ports and your motherboard has extra M2 slots that don't share lanes with the occupied sata slots.

  • I can't find futu on the list on Samsung cashback site?

    https://www.samsung.com/au/offer/ssd/

    • +1

Please read the very last line of the OP :)

      • Yes but is Kai Seng Computer Solution Pty Ltd the same as KS Computer Technology? Can it be declined?

That's the question. The invoice does not say KS Computer Technology. I thought it has to be exact no?

My most recent purchase from futu is with that name on tax invoice. Without clarification hard to say.

        • +4

So TA has gone to the lengths to confirm with the rep that this deal will provide Cashback, yet you still don't believe him?

If the rep confirms that it will work, I think that's a good indication that it will.

        • +4

Firstly, not sure why my comment was neg'd for trying to be helpful - really makes you wonder what more people expect. Secondly, it's clearly stated the rep has confirmed that cashback will be available as per the store/merchant list on Samsung. Any issue, ping him or the store directly. Thanks.

        • +1

Many thanks for confirmation. And I was not the one neg'd you. The only reason is cashbacks are tricky because if the tax invoice is not matching the list on Samsung site, even if the Rep confirmed its ok, the issues might be with Samsung themselves.

Hence my question. Its the same with all cashbacks the name of the business needs to be match exactly else it might not be valid. Even if you chase the Rep, it is not him approving the cashback its all on Samsung.

        • @neonlight: All good. If you look at the Samsung list of stores now, you'll find that Shopping Express was added 30 minutes ago. So Futu = Shopping Express = KS Computer Technology.

        • +2

          @tightarse:

Interesting so shall we claim with which name? Haha all good just pick one I guess

  • +2

    Any deal on the 970?

  • +1

Here are some costs analysis…after 20% and cashback

    970 EVO
    $118 / 250GB $0.472 per GB
    $253.2 / 500GB 0.5064 per GB

    960 EVO
    $105.2 / 250GB 0.4208 per GB
    $182 / 500GB 0.364 per GB

960 EVO 500GB is the better deal but its an older model. If you only use it for SSD caching for NAS, wouldn't 970 EVO 250GB be better if you need in pairs?

    • 970 EVO 500gb is $329x0.8 = $263.2 - $30 cashback = $233.2 = $0.466/GB

Edit: just realised only free postage with eBayPlus

      • You are right I miscalculated the $30 cashback not 10

So considering ebay plus with free delivery those are decent prices

  • Does anyone happen to know whether this will be compatible with a early 2015 MacBook Pro 13” with retina display?

    • +7

you'd need to use an adapter as apple uses proprietary connectors

      • +3

        hahahaha

    • +3

Even if you get the adapter, it will be limited to: PCIe 2.0 speed 4x lanes (i.e. 1400 MB/sec max).

You would prefer PCIe 3.0 speed 4x lanes normally with these NVMe SSDs.

  • Any deal on M.2 Sata III (2280)? Please :)

  • +1

    nice!

too bad my PC is so old that it don't even have a M2 slot………… :(

    • Not yet. You can get a converter that makes pcie to m.2

      • thx will look into that.

Otherwise, been itching to upgrade/replace my PC, just waiting for graphics card prices to come down to a more reasonable level.

        • Make sure your motherboard allows you to boot from PCIe. Otherwise, you will end up getting a fast data drive.

      • +1

Not worth it, since unless the motherboard is NVMe compatible the speeds will be significantly slower.

        • You do know that NVMe runs on PCIe right? Also, unless you have two of these (or you have thunderbolt 3), it is unlikely you will benefit much from NVMe.

        • +1

yes, but I'm sure there's a motherboard out there which doesn't support NVMe due to the motherboard firmware not supporting NVMe (While doing research for upgrading my m.2 drive I came across a few posts about people not realising that their motherboard doesn't support NVMe). You are correct the benefits of NVMe won't be substantial unless you are doing something that requires high read & write speeds, but if the motherboard doesn't support the high read & write speeds why not buy a cheaper ssd. Probably should have worded my first response better…

        • @triviums:

thx everyone, learn something new (haven't built a new PC since my i5 2500K), back to more research

Price War! Cheaper now OCL have dropped my deal from earlier today to $181 after cashback ;) https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/392620

    • Yes OCL had it cheaper let's just wait til Wednesday lol maybe more price war

  • +1

    Would love a great 1TB deal :D

  • Question - how long should I expect to at least even get a response from Samsung on the cashback?

    • Certainly by Xmas

      • *2020

  • +1

just sitting here waiting for a 1tb m.2 nvme or sata deal.

    • +1

They sold them on this link 🤷‍♂️

  • Uh oh, I'm the idiot that orders and has it sent to an old address… Hopefully seller will change for me, cos if I have to cancel… Deal now over :/

  • Aaaand they refused to change my address. I know you can since I've sold stuff on eBay before and it hasn't been a problem for me to do it

Very not happy with this seller, especially since the deal has ended and I can no longer purchase it 😠😠😠

    • If PM'ing doesn't work either and Futu sends it via Australia Post then you can just use the redirect feature they have as a last resort.

  • beware 1 claim per household / user

bought multiple and got stung by samsung

  • Got an email from Samsung:

Balance outstanding: We have reviewed your documentation and it appears that the copy of your original Proof of Purchase does not show that you have paid for your
Participating Product in full during the Promotional Period.

In order for your claim to be validated, we must receive a copy of your original Proof of Purchase within fourteen (14) days of receiving this email that clearly > shows that you have paid for your Participating Product in full during the Promotional Period.

What do they want from me? They are not satisfied with the tax invoice from Futu_Online. I guess they will not give me any cashback.
