They have not announced tomorrow deal yet

    • No one was able to guess that picture for 25th. I think EB Employees are having the same issue.

    • Gross. It’s a free gift if you spend more than $20 on psn or Xbox credit.

  • Tested mine last night, works perfectly, although the Wifi won't connect but I suspect that is because of the WPA encryption on my router. CBF trying it out. Now time to mod.

You can use a USB HDD after the mod to store all the games. Make sure to set partition 1 as Fat32 for USB loader software and GameCube game ISO. Then the remaining space can be formatted as NTFS for Wii WBFS backups that way no splitting of games larger than 4gb to fit on the partition. Nintendon't is the GameCube USB loader and requires FAT32 on partition 1.

Wifi for the moded system is mainly used to automatically update the game cover images for the USB loader from the internet. They can also be manually installed but just easier to do through the USB loader over the internet.

After modding the Wii it will then become regon free.

      • Wow, thanks for the info!

      • If youv'e never modded a Wii before as others have suggested. Start with ModMii. Run the installer and it basically downloads everything you need to softmod your Wii. Along with easy to follow step by step instructions on how to install.

  • What is the advantage of soft modding these?

  • How is the condition of your new "refurbished" Wii? I picked up mine today and it's covered with scratches and the wii remote is of a different colour to the main unit. The buttons feel loose… I haven't turned it on but for $28 I guess I will be happy as long as the machine works…

Mine was pretty dodgy condition, the panels were all very loose and flip open. my controller was black and my unit was white. But luckily i got a gamecube ports unit and my controller was motion plus. Havent tested it yet though.

  • Just got mine (purchased online with delivery) I got a black console with Gamecube ports, one of the covers for the GC ports is white, few marks on the console, will not be able to test it till tonight. Also got a black controller with the motion plus in it and a black nun-chuck.

  • Got my 2 yesterday. 2x white, 1 with motion plus remote, 1 the original remote. Usual dirt but otherwise seem ok

  • Trying to follow modmii in order to play games from usb stick, but still way too in-depth and confusing for me.

Anyone willing to help out me out and install the relevant software? Happy to throw a 20 dollar note your way for your time and effort.

Im located inner west Sydney, but in city most weekdays.

    • Any takers on this offer?

  • hey guys, what should be coming with the wii? I got 2, from different places. and i just wanted to confirm. One has a motion plus controller and the other one doesnt. So should the one that doesnt come with a dongle and the one that is a motion plus shouldnt have a dongle attachment? Should they all come with the sensor bar attachment? also in terms of power packs and cables?

    • Mine came with the console, power cord for console, sensor bar, av cables, nunchuk and remote motion plus.

They gave me the motion plus only because I specifically asked for it and they had stock; otherwise they just give the standard one.

  • I tested out my Wii, I saw people were talking about component video out etc, but mine only came with one cable which was for composite video and analog audio. how do i get component video out?Do i need to buy another cable?

    • Yes you'll need to buy another cable.

      • How much is it? Where do i find those cables? Is it worth the extra price?

        • +1

About $6-7 locally, eBay, yes better picture quality

        • +1

eBay search shows options less than $10. Probably worth it if you have a HD TV.

        • Ok cool, i will look into it. Does it play both NTSC and PAL games?
Also do i need a specific size SD card for the modding? Wondering if i should order that at the same time.

        • +1

          @lonewolf:

Definately worth upgrading to a component cable if your TV or AV receiver supports that connection. Picture quality will be much better.

Out of the box the Wii is region locked. For Australia region it will be PAL (Europe and Oceania). After modding it will become region free and play games released anywhere in the world.

To mod an SD card 2gb or greater is all you need. Officially 32gb is supported. After modding I've seen people reporting sizes up to 128gb successfully being used on the Wii. Although using a USB hdd will be alot faster than using SD card.

        • @g12345567:

Thanks mate, looking at most likely modding unless my friend gives me his wii games if his kids dont play it anymore (they got a xbox one a year or 2 ago). So just for the modding part looks like all i need is 2Gb on the SD card, was planning on using a USB hdd for the games.
