  • What’s your thoughts on the RG slide ? And how many devices are too many devices?

    • +2

      N+1 too many

I'm in love with the RG Slide already, especially since it's Android. Seeing the screen being off centre in the Retro Game Corps video is already annoying me. It'll be hard not to notice now.

There's no such thing as too many devices either. You need to have them dotted all over the house and at the very least in the glovebox and toolbox.

      • Since you're a bit of an expert sounding kind of dude…

Reckon there's any chance we could solder a phone modem thing, whatever the (profanity) they use to make and receive calls, into the Slide? Seeing that bad boy is making me miss my Xperia Play HARD

If they sold them with the ability to make calls, I'd pay (profanity) triple.

Sadly it's not that simple due to the licensing requirements and all that.

@Clear: I'm keenly aware that it's more or less the most ignorant thing I've ever said on OzBargain (which I don't say lightly), but it is a shame.

Seems crazy to me that one of these guys haven't made a console with cell signal though. I'd lap that shit up, definitely not alone.

That 4.7 inch 4:3 screen is a dream for 4:3 games. No bezels.

      • What’s the price, almost $200?

    • +1

      bulky

      Thicc

My screen died on the original RG35xx.. didn't even fall or anything.

Apparently it was a common issue.

    • My son's 8 months old RG355XX doesn't charge or turn on. Only used occasionally on long road trips. I tried looking online for a fix, but apparently a common issue. None of the fixes worked, including disconnecting and re-connecting battery.

      • Are you using the sd card that came with the device?
They’re really cheap and most of them die between a week and a couple of months. You need the operating system installed on the sd card to turn the device on. Without it, it seems like the device is fried and wont turn on but just needs a new sd card set up with an operating system.

        • I was using a Samsung SD card with Garlic OS and also tried using another SanDisk card, but to no avail.

          I've tried every recommended fix.

      • I had issues with mine where it would only charge with a specific low-end USB-C wall charger I had, and not with any of my newer fancier ones.

        • I tried all different USB cables and wall chargers but nothing worked.

  • I'll wait for one that plays Switch games :P

    • Most of the higher powered ones play alot of the lightweight switch games. Like the rg406h and RG Cube and rg556/rg557 etc

      • What kind of games?
Have you tried gammaosnext? Worth flashing?

  • +2

    Eyeing on RG40XXV for long

I got it, I'm happy with the form factor

    • Opps sorry I have the H, got my Vs and Hs confused… sorry.

i really like the form factor of the H. I would like to try the V see if its much better for hand held

  • +1

could someone comment on why it doesn't come with IP's such as sosonicnoce, Mario and Pokemon? could I load these later or not possible on this device? Mario and sonic would be 2 reasons for me to get it

    • +1

I don't have one, but as someone who used to emulate my Nintendo backups on a google pixel.. I'd say it's because those companies are particularly aggressive with defending their IP

    • Nintendo alone will sue the pants off these companies if they did. So it don't come with those games. But you sure can add it.

    • Incredibly easy to do yourself
Lots of websites with roms, get the microSD out, chuck it in your pc, make sure you’re getting the Rom of the same / correct file type and drop it in the right folder.
Can add game cover art etc.
