  • Still awaiting their move on a Sim only plan to compete with Telstra's 2GB roaming on their $89 plan… No reason why Optus couldn't do similar for $50-60.

    • roaming might really be such a big market grabber, hence this deal is to try and get some regional users as optus is often perceived, without empirical proof, to have bad regional coverage, bigger issue might be the handsets and i’d people have band 28 on theirs or not.

if you did sim only and someone doesn’t have band 28 for data, they are likely to connect to telstra on other bands , hence get new phone and you likely connect to optus on band 28 so less roaming.

did some testing if the family on holidays in victoria last christmas and a few different sims and and handsets, lack of band 28 on redmi note 4 limited coverage compared to lv v20 which had band 28 , using optus sims.

coverage was the same with the lg v20 for both optus and telstra sim …

some people might be in obscure places that have telstr only …… but you’d be be in the 1% of the population ….hence both carriers claim 98% coverage ….the other 1% is probabaly no coverage ….

Only Vodafone has domestic roaming. The included roaming here is for international roaming.

Can we use 3844 post code to go through and place order, but deliver to 3000 ?

    • if you know someone who lives in a regional area you could (if they let you) put there address in as the main address & in the delivery address put wherever you want as that works, & just use email billing so they will never get any bills sent to that address

    • +3

DM me if you want to use my address. I live in the country and I'd be happy to receive your order. Postcode 3462.

      • +1

        What about credit checks
Doesn't it have your address already
And it asks how long you been at your current address
It would be complicated I think

        • Just say you moved there yesterday. Then the system will ask for old address…just use the actual one there.

      • Hi mate, do you have local Optus store there? don’t know if I can drive there and sign one up

        • Closest would be Bendigo. Just get it shipped to my place.

        • @skwashd: ok then I come pick up?

        • +2

No I get nice shiny phone for my efforts.

from my experience with Optus, they match your name on the parcel with your ID when they deliver so I don't think it's so easy.

        • Yes, then you need bring ID to collect from Post office, which is safer.

        • Indeed, last week I missed Optus delivery of new iPhone (no-one was home) so we had to collect at the local PO, my wife went to collect with my signed authority (contract is in my name) but they wouldn't let her as a big yellow sticker on packaging specifically required photo ID of addressee.

  • just checked for 3844, I see only one plan with iphone x which is 10gb data $74 pm

    • It’s funny that was the original deal I was going to post I was seeing that before also on my mobile but then when I checked on my desktop it was the 205gb plan, dbl check your not clicked on another phone iPhone 8, as now I’m not seeing that deal anymore just the 205gb deal

    • Thats what it shows from a mobile browser

    • Change your mobile view to desktop

  • Min. Total Cost is $2520 over 24 months.
    $5/mth for Mobile Streaming (Netflix/Stan/iView)

What’s the going rate for a sealed iPhone X 256GB?

    • +6

$1400 is a good rate to go by, so if you sell it & put it into the plan you’d only be paying $46.6pm for a 205gb Sim plan

      • -1

You donot own the phone read the term it a lease phone

        • Cannot see anywhere it says lease on the iphone x

  • Nice phone but optus reception in regional areas is questionable

    • I agree. It's shite in my area. Telstra and mvno only.

    • +1

In my area this was the case a few years back, but since then they have added towers and have many more planned. I dont use Telstra but if you wanted speed around here you would choose Optus.

  • Just checked my postcode 2567. Only 1hr from Sydney and very built-up. Still classed as regional :-)

  • +1

I have an Optus Sim in an LG G6 from Australian Stock. Last week I had no service at all for 3 days, from Adaminaby NSW to Selwyn Snowfields. First time I used a Telstra Payphone to SMS in ten years. I live in Sydney so it was a one off for me. If I lived in a regional area, I would only consider Telstra. Whats the point of getting a good deal if the network is out of range.

  • -3

iphone x, old technology. wait a few more months for new iphone with a12 chip. send that sms 10% faster!

    • Interesting but be careful says: Min. Total Cost $3,480.00 over 24 months

  • Ah bugger. Does anyone know if there is any cooldown time? I took a 256gb iphone x from previous deal with 100gb data. If i could get this deal it will be handy! Anyone can help? Thanks.

    • They do 30 days return

      • That is if i have a network issue, not because i change the deal isnt it?

        • obviously you will need say you didn't get satisfactory network coverage

  • Could someone please clarify - is this for 205 Gb per month or spread over the 24 months - about 8.5 Gb per month?

    Thanks.

    • It is 200gb + 5gb per month.

      • Thanks!

  • Showing $74/month for me but the included data is less

    • seen that deal it comes & goes.. try viewing it on a desktop or try changing your mobile browser to desktop browser

gotta love that i'm rural enough to not have ANY form of NBN but not rural enough for this deal…

  • -1

Live chat to get the 10% off student discount?

  • You will probably get it even cheaper in September when the new ones come out.

    • of course

    • This also apply to the samsung galaxy Note 9. Wait till the new iphone come out. The major telcos will eventually parity their plans to match. Made an mistake by signing on day 1 of pre-order with my note 8. Overpaying optus for less data, fml. Should have waited just abit longer.

Are those needing 205gb of mobile data a month unemployed or is it to replace their wired connection at home?

    • haha how about the one taking up Telstra unlimited Data? what do you think of them, dead? 😀

  • Will it come with optus bloatware?

  • Nope - sealed standard stock iPhone, same as you purchased it from Apple

  • Anyone else get the “we need to talk about your order” email/text message?

I’ll give them a buzz later, but was wondering if anyone had called them yet

    • yup same

  • +1

Has anyone been able to successfully get Optus to add Mobile TV streaming for free with this plan? I hate that they charge $5 for it now. It makes the attractive plan become less so.

  • +1

Thank you very much. Got the deal today. It is the "My Plan Plus" and you actually own the device. (Some of the phones are offered on the My Flex Plan, they are lease only)

  • So these are lease phones, you don't own it.
What happens if you drop it and it gets a dent, tiny crack, scratches etc?

    • It’s not lease.. there is two options to lease iPhone 8 or 8+ otherwise you can choose own the phone

  • has anyone had any luck obtaining this just getting a fake regional address in then having it delivered to Metropolitan address?

  • +2

HarveyNormans are offering an additional 20% off this plan!

So you have a regional, qualifying postcode so go into Harvey's
    $145 > $105 and then Harvey's 20% off comes to $84 a month for
    1 x iPhone X 256gb
    200gb of shareable data
    6gb roaming

    on a 24 month contract

    • +1

That's a great deal! I'd def sign up then sell the phone.

Do they send anything to the address or does it need to be the billing address?

      • +1

Send it to a parcel collect PO. That should be ok.

And use your friends regional address for billing address.

Set to only receive email bills.

        Easy

  • Anyone can apply for this plan if they're due for a renewal, don't really needed to be a regional customer. Just mention this plan when chatting with an Optus agent on the app, and if they can't find the plan then give them this plan ID: 801023/10796275 and they should be able to hook you up with this plan :D.

    • +1

How about through Harvey Norman for the extra 20% ?

  • Was told by Optus the offer has been extended to 13/09/2018 (which is a day before the new iPhone is announced)
