It came up for me! Followed the steps exactly

    Using Chrome mobile version

Better off actually getting it for $30/mo continuous here

Otherwise wait for the next 25% off deal if you want a larger plan.

    • +1

Essentially same deal but with this one you get 3 more sim only plan options.

Both deals are essentially 25% off deals.

      • $10 discount applies for 24 months if you decide to keep the plan longer than 12 months.

So $30/Month deal is a better options unless you keep the plan exactly 12 months.

    • Not the same deal… I tried check out process with Sydney address and no problem. Also, see the screen shots.

  • Looks like regional only

    • Nope, works for Sydney too.

      • Depends on which postcode …

Sorry. Unfortunately your postcode is excluded from this promotion.

        • Try through mobile browser not web.

Great job Hits for posting, its legit. Makes previous $30 plan even better.

    Using Chrome if that helps

  • No pop up on iOS

Good deal but seems a bit pricey for the data offered. I recently switched to Telstra's unlimited plan for $60/m, seems better value and at least you won't have to wait months to get issues resolved and suffer with their slow network unlike optus. Also for those wondering the 1.5mbps speed isn't as slow as you think, you can stream Netflix and YouTube in 720p quite easily but 1080p gets a bit choppy

    • +3

The Telstra unlimited deal only came out last week - are you saying you signed up and have already hit your data limit in the space of a week?

      • Yes, am a heavy user and tether between phone and laptop for work

        • +1

I was under the impression the unlimited Telstra didn't allow for tethering

    • Isn’t the Telstra unlimited plan $69/m?

    • Hey koalafied

Are you able to do a speed test whilst shaped and let me know what kind of ping and download/upload speeds you get?

      http://www.speedtest.net/

      • I prefer fast.com to do speed tests, much lighter page and super quick

        • +1

The main appeal of fast.com is that the data is from Netflix servers. Speed test can be prioritised by ISPs, to give the illusion of better speeds. Your result on fast.com should be the same as your speed on Netflix, which ISPs (I’d expect) would be less likely to prioritise.

this is most peculiar.. i've tried it on chrome on my phone and on my desktop and both don't pop up anything it just takes me to the default optus sim only plan page… I've disabled location tracking on both and still not getting.. perhaps if someone is able to get to that page please share some technical details :) ? Really keen on this offer..

  • Not only am I not getting the pop up on chrome mobile I'm not getting those prices. I'm seeing $30pm for 3GB and $40pm for 15GB.

    • Same here

      • That's because that's what they cost. If you apply the 3 months free, then it works out as 25% off. So, $40 plan becomes $30pm overall.

  • It came up when I went to checkout optus sim only plans from the mobile.

Anyone also successfully got a student discount along with this?

    Thanks for the heads up!

I opened the link on chrome on iOS and it’s popped up.

    $45/month for 50GB is a bargain!

Anyone on Android have any luck with this?

I am keen on this offer as it seems available to new and recontracting customers. I am not eligible for the other $30/month offer, as I am an existing customer. Maybe I need to use an iPad?

    • Same mate. Have tried 3 different browsers on android and am not having much luck

      • I'm on chat now. They said only certain postcodes are eligible for this. There is absolutely nothing they can do.

I am pretty sure that this deal is basically for regional customers, and that they will automatically launch the popup if they detect your location as being regional.

  • I wonder whether the OP got it because he was on WiFi. His screenshot showed "no reception" (must be regional :) )
Maybe on WiFi, it cannot tell your location, and lets you get the deal?

Silly Chat rep asked me whether I want to abandon my number, or alternatively add an extra number to get the extra data through sharing. Sure, like I'm going to pay an extra $30/month!

    • +1

Just for info - it appeared for me on 4G and in Sydney

    • Nope, eastern suburbs of Sydney. WiFi at home. See couple comments below(zzzman and kitiara), others in North Sydney have got it too. Try different brrowsers.

      • Tried Chrome, Dolphin and CM Browser, including anonymous modes - no luck. Chat rep explicitly said "selected postcodes only".
Will try at home with an iPad and on WiFi (so it cannot detect my location through cell tower ID's).

  • please change to "targetted"
just confirmed with optus rep that this is postcode specific.

    • +1

I just signed up to this on chrome mobile and I’m on 4G in North Sydney.

I just signed up to this offer using the mobile browser.

I tried it on Safari and it didn't work, so I logged in through Google Chrome and it popped up after a minute. Google Chrome crashed on me, but when I opened Safari again there was the offer. It isn't a regional only deal, as it didn't ask for a post code. However, if you use your computer (under that offers tab), you can find the regional deal that everyone is talking about.

Thanks, OP! It came out to two phones for $52.50 and 18gb of shared data. Pretty happy with it!

Just checked using Chrome on Android and it came up for me, Perth metro area.

  • Hasn’t worked for me.

  • Optus updated their plans with double data today.

    $40 30GB
    $50 50GB
    $60 100GB

    Offer ends 20/5.

I wonder if this 3 month free offer can be used too?

    • I applied. If I reply again.. it didn't work :(

If you're having trouble getting the popup to appear, click on this link to add it to your cart automatically (for the $40 plan). You can do it from your desktop computer as well.
