Or for Xbox (not PC/Steam) currently AUD$11.99 if you have Xbox gold https://www.microsoft.com/en-au/p/rise-of-the-tomb-raider-20…

  • I wonder if there is many in the same situation as me, trying to decide between the PC version or XBox One S?
Maybe My eyes are getting old but I can’t really seem to tell the difference in the YouTube comparisons.

I have a pretty ok PC, Ryzen 1800 with 1070 SLIs vs XBox one S.

Mouse and keyboard would be my preference usually but nowadays I would like to lean back and attempt the controller controllers just for better comfort.

    Any thoughts?

    • Correct me if I'm wrong but I remember that they never patched in HDR support for the PC version so the Xbox One and PS4 are the only versions to have HDR. If you have an Xbox one x, I would recommend buying it on Xbox for $11.99 as the visual modes on the X make it comparable to the PC version running at the highest setting - it's very well optimised

      • Mmm thanks for that note Merajaan.

Too bad I don’t have xBox one x nor HDR TV.. just simple 4K TV.

I’m sure I can run this game on the PC at ultra settings instead of high right? I think I read it has sLI support.

      • this only makes a difference if you have a compatible HDR display

        • That’s right. HDR is a bigger upgrade than 1080P -> 4K for me and a lot of people.

      • PS4 doesn’t have HDR for this game.
I read it was PC and Xbox only.

Also get a 21:9 monitor on PC

    • With your setup definitely go for the PC version.

Presuming you have a high resolution monitor hooked up to it, the difference will be huge. PC version will have 4K textures. Bone S will not. It uses dynamic resolution and will run at 900p, sometimes dipping below.

Screw that. Your rig should be able to handle at least 1440p. I got a single 1070 and ran it at that res, and got above 30 fps. You should hit 60 fps comfortably and maybe even 4K ~45 fps.

Honestly I think you should sell the S. There's nothing it has that your PC doesn't have and can run better.

Mouse and keyboard would be my preference usually but nowadays I would like to lean back and attempt the controller controllers just for better comfort.

You can play on PC with your Bone S controller if you prefer.

Saw this in my inbox, went to check OZbargain to see if this has been historically lower - confirmed not - bought!

  • Damn, bought the base game as part of the Humble Monthly a while ago. And to get all the dlc is almost the same as paying for this again. (Season pass is $9.87 on GMG currently) Seems like the season pass includes the 20 year celebration stuff. But buying the celebration stuff separately only adds the 2 extra bits, not everything.

  • Baba Yaga DLC is a very good, atmospheric addition

    • I found the 'twist' telegraphed very early. It was probably intended for you to figure out early, but the characters are very dumb and can't put two and two together. It was so obvious and then they still get surprised by the reveal.

  • was there a code or something? it is showing as $19.77 USD now :(

    • It was a flash deal… over now…sorry.
XBOX one version for you then if you have the console..
