Damn really? Feel like they're insulting me for paying 83 three weeks ago on release.

What's the time frame on their return policy? In theory you could buy again at $47.00, remove price sticker, then return same item using your $83 receipt, pretend it's an unwanted gift or whatever.

      • You would think 3 weeks is too long.

Maybe, but still worth asking. Depends who you get at the counter. There's generally two types are JB - Ego-Dude and Emo-Girl. LOL.

      • That would be fraud

  • Mustn't be selling as well as they thought it would. I was considering picking it up but decided against it .. but at this price I guess it might be worth a shot.

lol harvey norman sold the first LBP for $10 about 3 months after it came out. $47 for the new one is cheap but i will wait.

  • Hummm at least I got a sackboy… Still shits me that the price dropped so fast.

  • Great game and at this price, awesome. My kids absolutely love this one.

  • I don't get it, its actually $48 :S

Dw you're not the only one….fairly sure a math error by OP.

But still, good price for the game. Closest I could find with Australian stock is Gamepslus for 48.95 inc free shipping (at least to nsw).

  • I did a search to see what all the fuss was about and saw this video - http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6njpk_little-big-planet-tr…

It seems like a crazy, funny and weird game. I dont think it's for me. Maybe I'll see if I can get the first one cheap to try it out first. Good price though.

  • GAH! I just bought LB2 at EB for $67 dammit knew I should have waited.

    Excellent find matey!

Don't they have a 7 day return guarantee?
Just pop back and say "I don't like it"?

They do? Interesting might look into that.

Just checked out Blacktown JB and they had theres for only $64. This must be a store special?

  • Just went to JB Hifi at werribee and still marked at $67..

  • Just went to JB Hifi at werribee and still marked at $67..

  • JBHifi at Chermside also marked at $64.

  • Showed the receipt at Fyshwick JB. They rang the Macarthur store who said it was a mistake. Good for the OP, not so good for me…

  • Yeah, this happens with all of PS3's "blockbusters" I recon. Felt like a gimp last time paying $79, so will wait for this one to be this price again. Metal Gear was in the bargain bin in weeks too.

Some. Wouldn't say all. GT5, for example, has been out going on a few months now, through a major holiday, and is still broadly full retail.

To be sure, though, most games (in my experience on basically all platforms) are front end loaded and only have a full price window of less than six months (and usually less than three-four months).

But even with that acknowledged, this LBP2 price cut is the earliest/quirkiest situation of a major PS3 game i've seen (bar random single store sales). It's almost too quirky imo. Suspect Sony themselves are behind it, and there's some kind of method in their madness. Testing pricing maybe (i doubt all these stores would have 'given up on the game' and be selling seemingly endless quantities at substantially bellow normal cost 1-2 weeks after its release)? Perhaps Sony is more concerned with building community for game and less with initial profit (maybe expecting to make it up with download content perhaps?) Or maybe they're interested in mascot possibilities for it and think that's bigger long term money angle?

Honestly don't know. Curiously it seems to be at full price rest of the world still (just looking round web as i type); and is still well ensconced in upper of echelon of PS3 games on lists (only shooters and heavily discounted sale items above it), which kinda adds to the mystery of it. Or suggests the 'testing water for lower pricing on games in Australia' is most likely possibility - god i hope so!

      • I think you're on the right track.. Its been heavily discounted, and in my opinion, probably due to harvey normans crying.. I don't doubt that a lot of people are importing these titles from the UK and rather than lose money, Sony will at least sell some units locally.. Its probably all a test to see what price points people are really willing to pay.. A price of an item is only reflected in what people are willing to pay for it. Maybe they're finally cottoned on that you'll sell 10 copies @ $64 rather than 2 copies @ $120..

      • There's also the fact that it's a guaranteed great selling game - I tend to find highly popular and big name games tend to fetch cheaper prices at launch, usually because retailers know that they will sell a heap, and want to actively get consumers to choose their store over the competition.

The few exceptions to this i've found are Nintendo Wii 1st party games, (like Mario) that barely drop price ever, (but are cheaper to begin with), The Call of Duty series and GT5, which rarely seem to go under $69 retail.

That said, I've never seen it this cheap so close to release. I think you may be onto something about the retailers feeling the pinch of people importing games.

  • Went to JB MacArthur Square today and they're all $64 (I think). OP must've been lucky

  • This game is totally awesome and fun to play for the whole family
