[Offer Extended until Sept 30] Amazon.co.uk - Free Super Saver Delivery on Orders over £25

2030

As of 11 February 2011, Amazon UK has free super saver delivery to Australia on orders over £25.

They still remove VAT from DVDs and Blu-rays, and the prices on a few items that I looked at had not increased in recent days to compensate for the free delivery.

With the current exchange rate, minus the VAT, the conversion rate is approximately £1 = AUD$1.33. For example, a DVD listed at £9.99 would cost roughly AUD$13.33 delivered (assuming it was part of a larger order which attracted the free delivery).

Mod: Updated title and expiry

Grrr….. that Broden must have purchased too many of these!

  • I have only ever used the US Amazon before. I'm personally only really interested in books. Amazon UK seems to have more expensive item prices and I haven't found any used super saver items yet. I am more than willing to give Amazon UK a go but I hope that Amazon US implements a similar policy.

    • I'm pretty sure you won't find any used items with Super Saver. It's just for new stuff dispatched by Amazon.

      • I have bought used items off Amazon US that were Super Saver and Prime enabled.

        • Amazon US offers trade-ins on some items, so I'm guessing that's why they have used stuff - I don't know if Amazon UK has the same thing going, but I don't think they do.

    • Have you been checking book (and DVD) prices in Booko first ??

Also, it's always worth having a look in the OB Wiki

Also, also, The Book Depository have a 10% off-er ATM.

      Cheers,
      TEGH

  • I don't know how deep Amazon go into my computer but they seem to know more about what I might want to buy from them than I do … or from what they would get from my past purchases and searches on their site!

But I'm probably just being paranoid :)

  • Normally I've found items dispatch the same day if they are in stock. However I've noticed with this new free delivery that the dispatch times are pushed out to 2 days pretty much across the board. These orders must be pushed to the rear of the queue. I don't think that's too bad considering it's free, but bear it in mind if you are needing an item quicker.

  • Are "Super Saver" items sent via "Royal Mail Airmail", just like their "standard" shipping?

ATM I find "Royal Mail Airmail" takes between 4-14 days. I had a couple of shipments sent via "Deusche Post" that never turned up at all, thankfully Amazon resent them via Royal Mail, but it took an extra month to sort out.

    • I just received a dispatch confirmation. It simply says Royal Mail. It does not offer tracking. I'll let you know how long it takes.

Received today - 8 days from dispatch. Doesn't seem any slower than normal. Pretty happy.

  • Blu-ray BBC documentaries - come to me.

  • it's such a great deal but all the stuffs(sports eqpt & kitchen stuff etc) i wan are restricted disappointed

  • So what categories can you actually use this on?

As confirmed by Amazon email, it's only Books, DVD and Music.

  • how long does super saver delivery take to arrive in sydney metro>?

  • strange enough, i purchased 4 items but at checking out, all 4 different items could not delivered to australia? i'm confused

    • Were all of the items qualified for free super shipping?

    • Only certain items can be bought in the UK for despatch to OZ (UK law).

      Basically; books, CD/DVD/BDs.

      Cheers,
      TEGH

I just ordered three books for a total of £32.96 ($A52.94) - I just checked on borders.com.au and the same three books came to $143.55.

No wonder they just went broke…

    • You do realise they have a 10% price beat policy with Amazon UK?

      • I don't think that borders would be doing that anymore since there in receivership now and they are not even honoring there gift vouchers now lol

        • I'm not trying to defend Borders, but that's a false statement. The truth is that they're requiring gift card redemptions to be at least twice the value of the gift card.

  • I had clothes in the cart that removed the VAT and applied free shipping (was on friday/sat). Now today (sunday) the free shipping has been removed and the VAT is not deducted.

I deleted the clothes and added 25 pounds of books (Dispatched from and sold by Amazon.co.uk) any only got free shipping and VAT NOT deducted. Has something changed today?

    Great customer service.

I was not aware of the offer. Ordered couple of text books. Sent them an email. Within minutes they applied free shipping and confirmed via email.

The dispatch date changed from 21 to 23 Feb. But interestingly expected arrival date moved from 12-14 March to 5 to 9 March. Can't complain. Hope the books arrive though. Last time for the same books I had my ordered cancelled, no stock.

    Just saved ~£28 in shipping.

You've got to love it when we can get Blu-rays from Amazon.co.uk, including delivery, cheaper than people in the UK.

  • newbie, this deal looks great

  • I've ordered 4 x DVD/sets and 2 x books in three orders over the last couple of days using their free post over GBP£25 offer :) :) :)

This included an Oxford Dictionary of English (the largest single-volume variant of the O.E.D.) for around AUD$37 landed,, compared to $100+ in bookshops!!

BTW, I was indeed able to specify payment in AUD$ (and the exchange rate was surprisingly good)…

Also, the offer ends 15th April 2011.

Live Long and Clock Up Those Carbon-Miles :(

I couldn't find this listed on the site and had to dig around. Now it has:

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/help/customer/display.html/?nodeI…

"Amazon.co.uk offers FREE Super Saver Delivery to the following countries (offer ends May 15, 2011): Australia, India, New Zealand and South Africa."

Offers looks like it has been extended by a month :)
