  • “The defining musical of the decade” ???
With not even a single memorable song or tune!
Must be an impoverish decade for musicals.

    • I'm not saying it's the defining musical of the decade, but there were plenty of memorable songs. What other musicals of the last decade do you recommend? :)

      • Mamma Mia! I can't think of any worthy of that accolade.

Come to think of it, how long have Les Misérables and Phantom of the Opera been running?
Has anyone ever seen them advertising tickets with 50% off?

Yeah, Mamma Mia is indeed good, but it is based on older, pre-established music and I personally preferred Wicked.

Les Mis and Phantom (two of my favourites!) are both considerably more than a decade old. :)

I probably wouldn't call Wicked "the defining musical of the decade", but I struggle to think of much else that's recent that would be worthier of such a title.

It did win BEST musical of the decade:

Operative word is decade, and I can't think of any other musical in the past decade with better mainstream comedy, plot and drama. The music being very Disney-esque would appeal to many, and 'Defying Gravity' is to Wicked what 'I dreamed a dream' is to Les Mis.

Wouldn't mind a 2nd watch when they arrive in Adelaide.

  • If you like musicals its definitely worth seeing, I loved it! The seats are very high up but can't complain with the cheap ticket prices.
