  • looks pretty decent. i bought a lacoste polo from 1-day and it actually wasn't too bad :)

    • Yeah I bought a few as well, +1

  • picked up two - thank you

  • Some people have said previous Ralph Lauren stuff they got from 1-day was dodgy. However, I got some of the skins that didn't sell on 1-day off torpedo7 not long ago and am very happy so hard to say.

    • Last batch of Mossimo jeans I received were 100%.

  • -8

    They are fakes!

    • +1

Though this was on sale today and usually take 5days delivery?

    • PROVE IT !!!

      • they fully refunded me last time when i bought one. no questions asked. didn't ask for the product back. clearly that's an admission of guilt right there. I've compared them to real ones and the quality is not there.

        • +1

refunding one in every 30 people that realise it's fake is a small price to pay to run a successful scam if you ask me

    • bold statement… now back it up!

    • -1

      No they are American imports.

No doubt a top seller in Western Sydney, all the 'lads' will be passing this onto their mates

    • +1

trust me they dont buy there polos

    • No, they don't like ponys. Its all about the little yacht (looks like a leaf from far).

Personally, I like the rainbow multi stripe zebra.

    • Aww, first time I've had a comment deleted. Just to prevent any confusion, I wasn't directing that "foul language" towards anyone here.

  • I bought one last time, delivery took about 10 days I think. But the quality is not bad.

  • Looks like a decent deal, shipping is $5.99 …

… but being pedantic, since 1 Australian Dollar is worth around 1 US Dollar, I fail to see the point of their comment "the price on these tags are in US dollars, not Australian dollars, and therefore are not comparable to the Why Pay price we have used".

    • +3

I guess the RRP would be cheaper overseas, as with everything else we get here!

  • +1

Have bought two - even if's they're not perfect, at that price there's no massive risk.

  • +1

I've never seen these styles in shops before And Ive been buying polo for a few years.

    • I've seen similar ones in the US

      • These are sourced form the US

    • -1

there are quite a lot of styles… you cannot say uve seen them all…

  • These guys are completely legit. I used to buy from them all the time (during my 1-day freak phase with COTD and 1-day), and was very pleased with the products I received.

  • +1

yuck the horrible striped ones, eww. They are about $30 at DFO and you know your getting a legit polo.. they aren't very popular.

And their everyday price is $39-$49 for their polos at DFO. They regularly have sales also.

  • +4

Last time i bought a ralph lauren polo from these guys I received a horrible shirt design which did not resemble what was pictured in the advertisement at all.
    Would not recommend…

  • +6

I have purchased Ralph Lauren Polo shirts in the past, I am pretty sure they are fakes, but its hard to know.

I purchased 4 of them, so its not like I got an unlucky bad shirt.

    1. They don't fit the same as my identical same size shirts, less length, width and everything.
    2. They feel weird on my skin, even after a wash (might be due to sizing)
    3. The Ralph Lauren logo is spaced differently to my David Jones/Myer polo shirts. Different spacing between him and the horse etc. Basically not the same logo
    4. There are a lot of threads running off it that have to be taken off, and even then they look messy when looking closely. For example on the other side of the button, the stitching is quite messy.
    5. They feel different to my David Jones/Myer shirts, different density or something.

Either way, I'm going to be buying my shirts from Myer when on sale from now on, I'm not going to risk it when the Myer Polo's are great.

    However!

They look legit, from 1m away they look the same as myer/david jones, and if you get the next size up it should match your david jones/myer polo.

    But tell me this

After I explained these details to 1-Day, and explained I thought they were fake and would get my justice, they assured me it was real, but refunded me in FULL and let me keep the shirts.

Either they have the best customer service in the world of they wanted to avoid me reporting them.

    • … Wonder if they'll want their money back? ;)

      • What do you mean?

        • Was just kidding in that if it was hush money, you've blown their cover :)

        • ah i get you, thats very true :)

    • they refunded me too. as i mentioned earlier, refunding one in every 30 pi**ed off customers is a small price to pay selling counterfeits. My biggest question is why the hell do they publish their torpedo 7 brand on their website. That name is reputable in my mind. Certainly isn't anymore though.

  • Cheers!! Shame its limited to only 2 shirts.

  • I purchased some of their RL shirts last time they had this deal. I usually find a large is just the right fit for me and the ones I recieved were like wearing a small, skin tight, just sits above my waistline and dont fit nicely around the shoulders.

Id not recommend getting these. 1-day didnt want to give me a refund either since it was technically as described.

They are genuine as far as I can tell. I think they are just the factory seconds or something.

  • +1

I concur they are fakes, but unlike Samfisher5986, I sent email to seller and got no reply from them at all, maybe because I bought only 1, so is a Neg from me, no offence to the OP though as he/she would not have known.

    • It was probably the way I worded it, I did threaten them and I did say I was from ozbargain as well.

    • email [email protected] he organised my refund.

  • How can they be a registered Australian business and sell fakes though?

    • Power of greed! why do you think people commit crimes when they know they can end up in the slammer….because they think they can get away with it. Most of us are just too busy with our lives to bother with it and if the $amount is not significant we just take it in the chin, one of the big neg for buying online!
Think about it, if you can scam 2 cents from each bank account in a big country like US or China, you'd be a millionaire overnight……not that I would recommend LOL!

      • +2

aren't people like Goldman Sacks of Money doing that every day?

        • +1

Exactly, except they are one step ahead of your average scammers….they do it legally lol.

        • Not always even legally, eg. paying out $550,000,000 in one settlement last year to avoid criminal charges in the US (still only half the profits they made on that particular scheme).

  • +1

I've bought a few things from the website and I've been happy with all of them except the Ralph Lauren polo I bought a while back. I'm not sure if they are fake, they look genuine and came in a proper bag, but I think there is something wrong with the "custom fit". I'm not sure what this means in terms of a shirt's fit, but it really seemed like the shirts were made for obese Americans. The shirt fits awkwardly and doesn't look great. My brother gave me a Ralph Lauren shirt he bought from the site because it was just too big. It didn't even fit on me (the shirt was too big) even though it's measurements were identical to a Mossimo shirt I purchased from the site (both around $20) and it fits great. Either they are fake or something is wrong with the "custom fit".

    • custom fit is for athletic bodies, the arms are tighter and the tail isn't quite as long. I really hate the tail on RL polos, i get it taken off at the tailors.

  • +1

If your "custom fit" was too big then its a fake.

I can tell you from experience that "custom fit" simply means it would have fit me 20 years ago, but now - no way! ;)

  • The cost of this is probably $3 to make in China.

    • -1

I was thinking closer to 3 cents.

    • …and your point is?

  • +1

    These are fake.

  • +2

Important to let people know out there that this is a fake so -1 from me

  • +1

Their Lacoste polo's were fake, which i regret buying. The crocodile was just a crocodile, it didnt say Lacoste in the logo. These look similar, are similar price with a similar saving off RRP. Sure theyre Ralph Lauren not Lacoste, but theres too many similarities to makd it worth the risk. $25 for a knockoff is ALOT.

    • +1

Yep you can buy knockoffs for $5 at the markets and if you go overseas for like $2..

  • Anything from "Ralph Lauren" can be chinese made goods and hence are not endorsed by the Ralph Lauren label we all know. Ralph Lauren lost control of the ownership of this brand name to the Jones New York Apparel Group.

The ones in myer are different because they are "Polo Ralph Lauren" Polo's.

    • Bottom line… everything is made in China(or Asian variant), no matter where they sell it. Real / fake, it all probably comes out of the same factory anyway. If these are fakes(which will hardly be confirmed), all it does is remind us that all 'branded' clothing is a rip. $60+ for a polo isn't reasonable. These polos are a good buy either way if you ask me. All the girls I know would never be able to spot the difference… what else matters?

      • well for one it needs to FIT you.

Sure you can gamble and buy a small medium and large, but I'm not going to waste my money.

I would rather buy one great shirt then 4 poor fitting shirts.

        • thats exactly why I do not buy clothes online unless they are mega cheap or I can return them if they dont fit. I find I can get pretty good bargains locally anyway thanks to coupons posted on here, special sales events etc.

      • Bottom lineā€¦ everything is made in China

Actually many of the clothes i have purchased when I have been in the USA including big brand name clothes have been made in Mexoco or other places which have not been china.

        • made in Mexoco or other places which have not been china.

          +1
i.e. India(forgot where but it's a popular brand), and Vietnam(one of my nike)

  • yeah so are the ones in DFO. most of the polo shirts are part of the 'polo ralph lauren'.

  • Word of warning - DO NOT under any circumstance deal with these guys, I'm pretty convinced the shirts I bought last time were fake and it was only after threatening in no unclear terms that I managed to wrangle a refund out of them. More infuriatingly, they tried to insist that the shirts weren't covered under the Consumers Guarantee and Trade Practices Act - what utter nonsense. See attached the following correspondence:

    To Whom It May Concern,

My name is WC and I ordered 2x Ralph Lauren Oxford shifts from your site on the 28th of November. When I received the shirts I was disappointed to find the quality far inferior to similar shirts in retail stores and I have many reasons to believe that the shirts are counterfeit, in addition to reading of similar negative experiences from other customers on one particular online forum. If you could please arrange for a refund to my account ASAP that would be much appreciated. The transaction details are as follows:

    Order Number:
    Placed: 28 November 2010 05:04 PM

    Thank You,

    WC

    Hello WC,

Thank you for your enquiry. I can assure you we do not sell fakes. Ralph Lauren has a vast amount of manufacturing locations all over the world and each product slightly differs in style as they are intended for different markets.

Our Returns Policy has been updated early this year and we no longer offer returns for refund or credit unless there is a warranty issue with the product or covered by the Consumers Guarantee and Trade Practices Act.

This is stated on the website under the terms and conditions: http://www.1-day.com.au/content/termsConditions.html

If you have any further questions or you would like to discuss this further please feel free to contact us.

    Kind Regards,

I have reason to believe that the items are counterfeit, including inferior quality material, poor quality stitching, shoddy packaging, and a production sticker found inside the front pocket and have experiences from many other dissatisfied customers regarding that aprticular product. I'm sure the Consumers Guarantee and Trade Practices Act covers for consumer rights against counterfiet products and misrepresentation, and would advise a full refund ASAP in order to prevent the matter from escalating.
    Yours Sincerely,

    WC

    Hello WC,
We do apologise for the problems that you have experienced with this item, again I state we do not sell conterfeit products.

Unfortunately we will have to refund you for this item because we do not have any replacement stock to send to you.

I can offer you one of the below options.

Store Credit:A store credit code to spend on 1-day,
Refund back to card: A full refund, (this goes back onto your credit card)

Please advise what option you prefer.

Please dispose of the faulty item as you wish, we do not require this back.

If you have any further questions feel free to contact us.

Enjoy the rest of your day

Have a look at the discussion going on the other forum regarding that item (http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/35082), and ask yourself if you really want to associate yourself with a company which has such a bad reputation- if it's really worth risking your money for something which could be bought at a reputable RL factory outlet store for not much more money?

    • Additionally, it seems by going on other users reponses that they didn't require the faulty items back/happy for customers to dispense with, which reeks of dodginess to me since you'd expect they'd raise the issue with their supposedly reputable suppliers.

Unfortunately I wasn't able to post this correspondence in the original forum, but I'd advise all affected customers to contact customer service and express their collective dissatisfaction. Especially mention that the matter will be escalated if not satisfactorily resolved, and that you are aware of your rights under the Consumers Guarantee and Trade Practices Act.

It really makes my blood boil that these crooks continue trading with impunity, and they really need to be put in their place. >:(

      • Just because they offered you a refund does not mean they are selling fake items. Giving you a refund is much easier than having you keep complaining to them.

Just because the clothes are different to the ones we have here does not mean they are fake, clothes for the same brand are made in different factories around the world.

The shirts are parallel imports from the USA they are not fakes.

        • They already do a good job of ignoring people, and its easy easier to set up a filter to ignore someone completely.

  • its not even cheap, none of their deals are. Their shipping is always expensive and it is always imported stock which they would buy for nothing..

If they are going to sell counterfeit goods or parralel imports, sell them at a GOOD price.. $5-$10 a shirt sounds about right as long as they are of a decent quality.
