The platters are small and made of plastic, worth less than $1… But hey if you need 2 blocks of cheese why not?

Plastic? Bummer. Last time they did something like this, it was ceramic like.

    • I agree that these are not as good a value as previous offers.

RRP is $14.95, so I'll reserve my judgement until I see them. If they are melamine then reasonably durable and worth a bit more than $1.

      • Let us know when you find out!

      • How do you tell if they are made of melamine? I have one in my hand right now.

        • Melamine is like thick plastic

@Sweetnsour: The platter felt like a plastic version of Corelle in my hand. It does not flex like a takeaway box, it does not feel like a kid's drinking cup/bottle, a car's dashboard, or my keyboard. When I tap on it, it produces a light "tick" sound and not a dull "tup" sound. So is it melamine?

        • @alvian: Is it like those picnic sets of cutlery/servingware?

(Plot twist: the platters are made of Bakelite)

@josho9: That is too broad a category. I found picnic tableware made from melamine, enamel, polypropylene, and bamboo just at BCF alone. And I cannot tell from the photos how the different material feel to the touch.

looks like they stole the nandos font

  • I grew up using melamine, everything hurts, kill me!

  • What are the cheapest things you can get to qualify?

These things I guess. Unless they’ve got some near use by date stock to clear.
