  • "Don’t Miss out on this deal."

Why? I already have a power supply.

    • I have a PC that might have a questionable PSU, so it could be useful.

Now, if I could be sure I would be in the first 10….

      • yes so far only 2 sold so 8 to go

  • +7

It's cheap but I'd never skimp on a quality PSU and case. I would cringe everytime I would turn this case on hoping it doesn't blow up

  • +1

I wouldn't want my PC to blow up.

    • And it looks noisy too…. spend a little money, get something that won't WHHIIIIIIIIIRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR all day long ;)

      • +2

        LOOKS NOISY? another genius!

    • +1

but why do you neg it? your point is not supported by anything, dont be rediculous!

      • +2

Have you ever experienced a cheap PSU? I take your response as a no. When you lose $100's of pc gear because you skimped out on a PSU you will not consider this a bargain. I have chucked out many PSU in my time. They have always been cheap generic power supplies just like this. I'd give these PSU away but don't want the guilt knowing its a ticking time bomb.

        • +2

Well I've had 3 antec psu's that has died on me over the years.. and I've had 2 cheap psu's that still work till this day. I could be unlucky but it's the more expensive ones that failed me. Though saying that I wouldn't recommend getting psu's that you can't find reviews on, which is basically the ones nobody has heard of.

        • +1

I've had many many many PSUs die in my time. Not once have I lost a single component. Always kinda assumed that was a bit of a myth.

        • I've not lost a lot of PSUs myself, but 3 of those (perhaps 4 or 5 in total) have been Antec TPs so I'm no longer a fan of that particular big name brand!

Over the course of many years, I've seen exactly one mobo damaged by a PSU; and that was only because it couldn't deliver the necessary voltage on the 12v rail so the consequent heat from increased current drain melted the ATX connector & cables! The board still worked, but needed a new ATX socket. I actually fixed it…only to have it later die from the great Epox bulging cap problem! I wish I'd known about that beforehand, I could've saved myself a lot of desoldering/resoldering!!! :p

That's as close as I've come to losing hardware because of a PSU! ;)

  • This PSU retails around $39.95 plus shipping and it can also be found on static ice for around the $40.00 mark just because we got a good price deal people tend to think that it will blow up and if the price was a bit higher then they will say it is not a bargain, I guess everyone has their right to say… but all good anyways

    • +4

No I say it will blow up because its cheap (quality wise) has nothing to do with it being cheap (price wise). I'd rather pay more and save me MB, CPU, GPU, RAM, HD etc from a world of pain.

  • +6

The one thing I wouldn't skimp on for a pc is a PSU.

  • +8

I just purchased 10, don't be stupid guys, winter is coming up, stock up!

(I am not responsible if burning down your house was not what you intended)

  • +4

Seriously one thing you should never never skimp on is a powersupply, cheaper models are electricly noisy this leads to pickups, reboots. I did PC repairs for 6 years and I saw it so many times.

  • +1

Lol at the 'genuine' when no ones even heard of the brand.

And I upgraded my psu purely because my old one had a electrical noise.
Some are fine with it, but I gotta sleep in the room of my pc.

  • Genuine wong xhang ching ping brand accept no imitations!!

  • The cheapest PSU I would get is a Vantec ION2+ which retails for $47 from most places/

That's assuming that you are going to build a half decent gaming machine, but for most office / general usage computers, you can make do with 350 watt Coolermaster / Thermaltake PSU's.

  • +1

When power supplies blow up, they stop outputting voltage so the machine won't start.

Are some people really dumb enough to think that the old failed power supply ALSO destroyed their Hard Drive, motherboard, video card, DVD, RAM and expansion cards when it decided not to supply voltage any longer?

if they are throwing these parts away, could you drop me a note and I'll take them.

    • +2

It can happen, diodes can short through, chokes can fuse and higher voltage can get passed through, unlikely yes, and more unlikely with a name brand. i have seen a xbox1 faulty PSU fry a mainboard, and the original xbox psu was of similar design to a PC power-supply.

  • This will do quite nicely to get a family members' old PC fixed & out of my study on the cheap, thanks OP! :)

  • I've just ordered, am I still getting the extra fan?

  • +1

20A on the +12V rail is a bit low. My 5yr old 350W Antec has 21A on +12V. But I guess it depends on what hardware you are running.

    • Also doesn't have the 6 pin power connector for graphics cards
