Best price ever on this non-reference Vega 56? I believe so.

Just something to keep in mind, this model specifically has been reported to have a lot of issues and RMA claims. Probably why it's the cheapest.

  • isn't the gigabyte version the crap one though?

As mentioned before, buyers might want to be careful with this brand for 56.

several people seem to be having issues with this particular model.

  • I saw the critical reviews, though I'm going to take my chances considering the price and that many of the complaints had to do with gigabyre's RMA process. At least in Australia we have some half decent consumer rights to refunds etc.

If it turns out to be crap I will return it, probably after running some stress tests and tweaking it a little to see if it helps.

    • Look into undervolting this GPU. The more you google about undervolting Vega 56 the more you'll find that people can improve the performance whilst also reducing power consumption hence less heat dissipation and possibily avoiding the known issues.

      • Yep, already planned on it :)

  • Given the price of some GTX 1080 models have dropped into the sub-$600 range as well recently, I think that would be a better option than the Vega 56.

Agreed, however I've got a freesync monitor and wanted to make the most of it. Otherwise definitely a 1080 is great value if you can get it for around $600.

Yeah I don't have any vrr monitors yet, but the price of gsync just really kills it. I'm looking at joining you on the freesync bandwagon. I hope I'm wrong, but I'm expecting amd to phone it in for the next generation of cards unfortunately =(

Nvidia RRP for their next cards is going to do nothing to bring down the price of this generation too. Quite annoyed at nvidia for the blatant money grab (not that I can blame them)

Imagine the killshot Nvidia would have landed had they not overpriced Gsync so badly. AMD graphics would be almost dead. Instead I'm running an RX580 with a 144hz Freesync monitor lol. I'm shockingly team Red at the moment with a Ryzen 5 1600 too. 18 months ago I would never have believed that I would own a completely AMD system. I just couldn't get past the overall bang for the buck that Freesync and Ryzen offer.
