Ordered 3 Falcons. Gonna supa glue the bits for each one then bolt some wheels on the bottom for my kids to have Star Wars Billy-Carts.

  • Thanks OP! Almost pulled trigger on full priced Bugatti today. Saved me $100 :)

    • No worries :D

    $1000 for lego? No thanks.

  • +3

Geez these Millenial (falcons) if they stopped buying lego & saved, they could afford a house.

    • +3

But who needs a house if you have the Millennial Falcon.

    • +3

Can't. I build my Lego over smashed avo at the cafe every day.

  • +4

More expensive than my 1990 Ford Falcon!

    • What's your Kessel run record?

  • -2

    Uh…do people actually buy these?…

Different if it was a large scale model you had to assemble and paint or something. That’s a hobby. But lego…

    • +1

Yes. people love lego. People love star wars. People love speculation. It's a 3 for 1 deal!

      • +1 👍 People need a bigger … Falcon.

    • I actually don't buy either Lego or model kits for myself but I can see more value and interest in Lego than a model kit.

    • Some say it's cheaper than cocaine.

      It really isn't.

Just wait until the chinese copy it, same set for 1/4 the price

    • They already have.
      Lepin 05132

    • more like 1/10 the price.

    • +1

you shouldnt buy counterfeit items. It just ruins the company that actually went through all the trouble of engineering, marketing and producing. I know i would feel angry if a chinese company copied something i took months to design and sell for less, pretty much destroying all your hard work and effort and customers.

I wouldnt buy a fake lego. Its like buying a kit car Ferrari, might look like one, but you know its not.

      • +1

Didn't buy any. Just came across some at that price. Just shows you the cost of producing them are a fraction of what they are selling. Even when you factor in all the other costs, still wouldn't come up to the price they are charging these days. That's why big W, target etc are able to give heavy discounts because they'll just be stuck on shelf at RRP. Didn't the porche lego recently came up for sale around the $300 mark ? It's similar in scale with the bugatti ?

        • Yes. I do agree some are over priced, but remember that anything with star wars brand on has a royalty that needs to be paid. And the chiron is the same. A royalty for every sale of the Chiron Lego sold would go to Bugatti the brand.
Not sure about the quality of the Lepin plastic vs the Lego plastic. I'm sure the Lego would last longer, fade less colour and become less brittle, or at least I hope.

Yes the 911 was $318. I actually bought two when I got for $289 a few months ago at bigw.

      • +1

        +1 👍
        I agree with you.
Don't think we should encourage production of fakes.

  • +1

$1100 for some bits of moulded plastic? (profanity) off, Mr. Mouse. No more money for you.

  • +1

(profanity) me!! Lego seems to have entered a curious price dimension that little plastic bricks simply don't deserve. A life size Nelson Mandela or Elvis could be worth a grand.
Personally, I don't think this star wars cowpat does.

    • A few of the earlier, now hard to find, Lego sets are worth well over a grand now. One of the early Millenium Falcons, (perhaps original Death Star), and Taj Mahal are a few that come to mind, so if you have any stowed away it is worth checking their desirability amongst collectors.

    • This is an updated (and significantly enhanced) re-release of a huge set that went for about $750 but was selling for up to AUD$4k in the reseller marketplace. Lego would have been idiots not to capitalise on that popularity.

  • Doubt anyone bought it, usually s4m has little stock, should be sold in hours, but not this time.

    bring on the lepin kits

  • OP are you a store or a warehouse?

  • -1

    Lepin version is pretty good.

  • I don't have the space to build the Falcon. It's an expensive shelf at the moment. Can't wait to build it once I set up a dedicated area.

  • If anyone has Stan then I recommend this documentary. I’m not a Lego geek but it was really quite fun and some of the things people build are amazing.

  • $1100 for this kit works out to be $0.14c per lego piece. if you look at it this way, the price isnt too bad. however looking at it as buying "something" its dam expensive. eg: if you went into a model hobby shop, realistically, would you buy the $50 - $100 model car or the $1100 version.

    • Well as with any hobby, really depends on how much money you have in your pocket at the time! :)

  • Lepin one looks pretty much identical…. if i was into lego i know which one i would buy.
