    sick deal

Already knew I was definitely going to grab it, but after seeing the gameplay trailer this morning, holy shit I'm too keen for this release.

    • +1

Red Dead Redemtion II Gameplay trailer you are referring to, right ?

      • -4

What other gameplay trailer has been released recently?

        • +4

Spider-Man gameplay videos have come out recently as well

        • @unrave: True, didn't even think of that, and am getting Spider-Man also. But yes I meant RDR.

        • @unrave:

The Spider-Man gameplay trailer videos were released two months ago, but the trailer for RDR was released yesterday, so one would think it was that.

FYI, you don't need to preorder them, they will be that price on launch day according to the email.

Might not stay at that price past launch day though.

  • +14

    Same on Amazon

  • +2

It's been that price on Amazon for many weeks. Even I forgot to preorder when it was the promotion of $20 off in orders $79 or over.

But it's a good price, But Hey, you can still pre order at Eb Games for $99.95.

    • JB has a much better chance of getting it to you Day 1, Amazon shipping on my last preorder was dreadful.

      • +1

From my experience standard shipping via Amazon is atrocious although Prime shipping is excellent.

      • I've had no issues with Amazon so far. Got my Madden 19 by midday today, and all other items except for my Xbox One arrived within 48 hours of ordering, including the Switch during the Prime Day deals delivered to another address than my usual one.

      • +2

I received my Crash Bandicoot preorder the day before it was meant to be released. It's been great for me.

    • You know you can price match yeah?

    • +17

I am trying to make sense of your comment. Retail price will be $89-99 so launch price of $69 is a good deal. After day one price will go back up as it did with God of War and then slowly trickle down over the next 6 months so yeah $69 is a good deal.

      • +2

Some people don't think before typing.

      • +2

That will be the EB launch price. Target/Big W/JB usually launch at 59/69 then price up sometime in the weeks after release.

      • +1

I think they're being a little mischievous, and maybe alluding to the fact some people snagged the preorder for $49 with one of the early Amazon promotions.

    • +4

Remember when ps3 games were 120? yeah 69 is good

      • +1

That shit is a definite upside to only getting a PS3 late 2011. MW3 was my first day one game for that generation, price matched with HN for 69 bucks.

I'm fine with 60 to 70 odd for a deserving game, but any more and it's just ridiculous. I'm aware how many man hours go into these things and I have nothing but the utmost respect, but these days most multiplat games end up 20/30 bucks in a year or so and my backlog is already too big.

        • With the endless amount of access to information you have to be a real rookie to be buying games full price that arent good.

Easyallies is my go to atm great bunch of dudes

    • +1

This is something my 83 year old grandmother would say.

      • Your grandma looks great for an 83 year old then

      • +1

        She hot?

  • +6

$59 at Target or BigW? They've been pretty awesome lately for release prices.

    • -2

Nope. If it does happen they will be selling at a loss of over $10 and I can’t see that happening.

      • +2

$59 still not a $10 loss to them. C'on do you really think they cost the retailers $59?

      • $56.45 from Amazon in the end.

    • Don’t recall that price ever happening on day 1

      • Don't let that stop me from hoping.

      • $56.45 from Amazon in the end, Ozbargain community is very helpful to my wallet.

    • +2

+1 for this. Big W have been extremely competitive when it comes to launch prices for the heavy hitters. I'm confident they'll beat 69 for Red Dead and Pokemon at least, 59 is possible.

  • +12

    Never pre order.

    • +4

I would totally agree with you for just about any other game but considering the reputation of Rockstar and how well received the last game was….this game would be one of the rare exceptions I would make for a pre-order.

      • +1

I have fallen into that trap before by going on reputation and got burnt. With JB/EB it is less risky especially pickup from a local store because you can always cancel.

I am a huge Rockstar Fan, but since the invention of GTA Online and the departure of Leslie Benzies, it simply isn't the same company culture anymore, so while it's likely it will be awesome it's not guaranteed.

        • -4

          You're saying GTA V wasn't worth pre-ordering? You're crazy.

        • +6

          @Putnum:

          You're saying GTA V wasn't worth pre-ordering?

How did you get that out of what they wrote?

        • -2

@Lorindor: "Since the invention of GTA Online"

        • +1

          @Putnum: Not even a little.

What is the value in letting a company have my money in advance while I receive nothing for my faith in them?

        • -1

@TheDukeOfNukem: Do you drink your milk at the counter when you buy it? Everything is bought in faith.

        • +2

@Putnum: When I buy my milk I leave with it the second I put my money down though, instead of waiting months on end, with the risk of the milk being delayed for even more time.

        • seeing as ZERO games have been released since GTA V by Rockstar, stating the departure of Benzies has an impact is a bizarre comment.

        • @XCOM v2: Well that's the point. The Success of Rockstar Games to date has been with Benzies at the helm. This is their first full game without him so it is an unknown quantity. Prior to this the only content from Rockstar post-Benzies has been nothing but incremental GTA Online updates which keep getting more and more aggressive in it's push towards Shark Cards (microtransactions) and a few remasters/ports.

        • @Peace Horse: Not to mention it's heavily believed his "departure" is one of, if the, major reasons GTA V's SP DLC never materialized.

      • +1

nope you dont ever need to, have the patience and wait 6 months to see the quality. trouble with rockstar is it may not drop below launch price in that time.

    • +5

There are a few reasons to preorder.

      1. Limited run indie / smaller game where you genuinely might not get a copy if you don't reserve one.
      2. Discount for preordering, see; majority of digital Switch games with >10% discount to preorderers.
      3. Incentives, see; Walking Dead season 4 preorder coming with a download of the first 3 series as a bonus.

Unless it's one of those, I see no reason to slap down money in advance either.

    • +1

i pre-order at EB Games and get them to price match any other stores pre orders or current prices at launch

it also helps that they are local to me so its no big deal

      • +2

Go nuts, do what works for you, I'm not gonna tell you not to.

But I will ask why? Why not just match it day one anyway? Outside of things where they chuck in a poster or some cheap bonus DLC, what's the gain?

        • maybe it goes out of stock day 1?

        • @ramona: Highly unlikely, and even then, you'd be able to buy at that price and get your copy when they restock.

That being said, I did mention stock issues being a reason before, but relegated it only to smaller releases. I preordered my PS4, picked it up at midnight, and remember them being out of stock EVERYWHERE until the February shipment a couple months down the road, which itself sold out hella quick too. So you're right, I should add and addendum to number 1, stock issues as a whole.

  • $59 for Battle for Azeroth is a good price.

  • +5

So if you pre-order will you likely get it Day 1?
I’m taking a day off work on the 26th to get balls deep in to this game.
Or am I best off going to a store on the 26th to make sure I get it that day? Do they usually have sufficient stock day 1? I don’t mind paying anywhere up to a hundred beans.

Never pre ordered a game before. But that gameplay trailer has me moister than an oyster.

    • I’d wait a week, watch how the prices move over a number of retailers and then take a day off.

My experience is that pre-orders are usually outdone in the days and week after.

      • +1

Ok. But I’m really not worried about the price. Would prefer to get it as early as possible.

        • Just go in store and pre order it rather than doing so online, then you can go in on the day and have a copy guaranteed to be there waiting for you day 1.

        • @mdogxxx: I see that jb is doing click and pre order now, could probably give that a try, I havnt done it yet but might do for fifa.

    • I’m sending the mrs and the little one away from the 26th for a few days to get into Red Dead too! I’m going to stock up on booze and ‘v’. Can’t wait!!!!

  • $69 for Smash Bros as well, same as Amazon currently. And $69 for Super Mario Party, 7c cheaper than Amazon. I currently have all my upcoming ones there as I had a few vouchers to use. Hopefully Prime comes through and I get them on release.

  • +5

How is this a deal ? Amazon.com.au has had these prices like forever..

  • Pre-ordered Spider-Man for $79 from JB already, will they offer $10 refund upon pickup?

    • I doubt it. You could refund your purchase and buy it again at the lower price?

    • +2

Yep you get charged the lower price on release. Unless you have payed all up front. I'm unsure

      • +3

I'm pretty sure that you will get charged the lower price on release and if you have payed in full, the difference will be refunded on release

    • Thanks for the heads up

  • Is this an ad?

        • 'Til the landslide brought it down..

  • Can we price match in EB Games?

    • +2

We don't know, ring and find out?

  • I pre-ordered RDR2 Ultimate Edition (Digital) for $110 AUD from argentina. You reckon I should cancel?

    • +1

I pre-ordered the ultimate ed. from EB for $99 with any 2 xb1/ps4 games. Argentina?

    • Where did you buy Argentine credit from?

      • Use a vpn and Aussie card.

  • +1

Thanks OP got Red Dead, Spiderman and Bo4!

  • Hi guys.
Does anyone know how long this preorder offer lasts?

    • +1

Until the release date of each game.

  • Wonder if Spyro is going to get a preorder deal?

  • Ordered spiderman and Red Dead Redemption 2 for youtube play release.
Kids made a video on RDR original for a bit of practice.
    https://youtu.be/PiDgJwZvofo

  • +2

Finally, click and collect is an option for preorders. Delivery used to be the only option for preorders with JB.

  • Just a warning to people. The spiderman preorder bonus that is advertised everywhere else is not included in the standard game. I contacted them about it and they replied with a no so that's probably where they saved money (somehow)
