  • last time this was on people said that the staff were very pushy and wanted you to buy products..

I like the look of it, but dont want to go to a hairdresser where some pretentious wanker annoys me trying to sell stuff. usually john brennan hair is just fine..

    • Yeah I thought this might be pretty good but then I browsed their website and thought exactly the same thing - they'll get you in there and for an hour try and push products on you to 'maintain' your new metrosexual 'style cut'.

  • i agree
they treat u like a cheapo too
and the massage was less than a minute
she didnt offer me any beverages
and towards the end asked for another booking and tried to sell me hair products around the $30 mark

  • well, the premium hair cut includes a "prescription for hair care & hair styling products" which of course will only include their own exclusive range of high priced products, just take the prescription and say "thank you, good bye"!

they seem good(based on OzB reviews, anything is good for us as long as its free ;)
    .

Yeh I went last time. Excellent haircut and they don’t put the hard sell on you. Unfortunately I live too far away from them to be a regular
    .

Went there last time and got my free haircut, quite nice service. But as a full time student, I could only support them here online and maybe will go back a few years later ^_^.
    .

I went last time too even though i live in Melbourne :P the whole thing was pretty good, and it kinda looked like all the girls there were models not hair dressers. When the cut was done i went to the cashier who checked my appointment, said thats complimentary, see you later :)
    .

    you hear that models ;)
    .

Haha I went in to get my hair cut when it was really long, I told them I really only cut it a few times a year and usually do it myself. If it bothered them they hid it well!
Awesome service though, comment above about the girls being cute is true. And they spend ages massaging your head :)
    .

The hair cut was average, but the eye candy was excellent. Seldom when you get a deal to have pretty ladies talking to you while you have a beer, and for FREE. Excellent for anyone who has never been there before.

    drooling already???

Finally I took the courage and went in for a free haircut yesterday.
Yes, you have to call them to book an appointment, do not specify you are coming there for a free haircut.
They do a very good job, and once finished they themselves offer it as a complimentry..if not then you may need to specify the advt you saw on their website
    .

Ok, i just had my hair cut this morning. I would recommend it without a doubt.
    a) very professional
    b) no mention or awkwardness regarding free haircut
    c) they offer for you to buy something, but you can decline without it being awkward
    d) i may well go back when i need another hair cut.
    A+ deal
    .

although there are some 'neutral/near bad' where they did not offer the beverages and gave a short massage as well as trying to sell things to you(they are trying, i guess)

haha I would be too embarrassed to go into the salon and ask for free haircut…

  • +1

    "gave a short message"
what, you mean at the end they give you the middle finger and say something like "P.O."? haha!

  • Free is still free though. I went the first time a couple of years ago and kind of felt cheap getting the free hair cut (their rent must be a killer!) and it was an OK experience. Massaged and shampooed my hair ("uhh… sure… feels a bit weird someone washing your hair") and they were chatty. So generally speaking, if you can stand getting the hard sell for their products, then why not get a free hair cut?*

*(I get mine done for $10 now with a similar style, but the eye candy is better at Detail; the place I go to now is more like 3-year-old-minties-from-the back-of-the-pantry than eye candy) :)

  • This deal has always been a dud for me. My friend and I have left our details twice at separate times and they've never contacted either of us.

    • Were your details obviously fake?
      Like Mr I P Freely? :)

  • i went there 18 months ago - wasnt pushed any products. Got offered a drink which i accepted. I told them i was visiting in sydney for a study course and was leaving in a week - they didnt even try to rebook me. They were happy for me to leave, but i decided to by some hair styling mud anyway. Overall a good experience - but it may be because I told them I was only in sydney for a week

  • The thing I hate about some hairdressers is the way they wont STFU! I want to sit there in silence and just have them cut my hair not talk about how my day has been..

    • +3

wait until you get married :)

  • I can't see without my glasses and I kinda have to take them off to get my hair cut, so no eye candy for me :(

    • buy some contacts
      you'll enjoy it ;)

  • Just got my hair cut this afternoon. Awesome cut. The girls are very chatty. They offer you a free drink even beer! Felt weird drinking beer while having a haircut. They will try to rebook you on your way out but no big deal.

  • Had my haircut too today at Detail For Men. Decent cut. Girls are fairly chatty as mehow stated.
THey chuck in a few statements regarding products to use while cutting your hair but not pushy at all.
Beer was offered upon arrival, and it's not any cheap beer - had a Becks. A big positive from me.

  • did they just say thats free and let you leave at the end?? I just had haircut a few weeks ago but I keep it medium length. I might ask them for a new style for a change if they are talented and can offer suggestions for styles
