C'mon Americans, you can set the bar a bit higher than this

    • +8

Budweiser; the equivalent of making love in a canoe.

      • Bastard! Saw the heading and came in here to throw that line at the wall.

      • Whatever gets ya wet.

let me guess, you prefer the sport that promotes one-hit, jaw and teeth breaking punches? the one where vicious assaults are rewarded and not penalised with criminal charges? and the one where people mimmick the same kind of violence on a night out on the town?

      • +13

I prefer the one where they trip over and roll on the ground crying for their mummy.

        • -4

i prefer the one that is the most played and watched international sport in the world too.

        • Isn't that NRL? where players drag each other to the ground and molest each other. It's no wonder they have a problem with violence against women, they're not used to them. Such a popular sport that they can't even interest the country to play, let alone the world. Even A League has more fans and participants!

      • I prefer the NBA. You know, where more than 3 points are scored in a game.

        • +1

i suppose you need that constant repetitive gratification.

        • @b0rat: where they just give a bunch of points away for no reason other than to have lots of numbers. Truly a sport for Americans.

        • @b0rat:

I guess you need to continually watch grass grow.

    • +11

      @PainToad

      Great beer, terrible sport.

Lol I think you got that the wrong way round.

    • +1

      agree with you there.

    • +1

You're wrong, it's the best, most technical, beautiful, most played, most watched, most difficult to master sport in the world. Anyone who doesn't love it knows nothing about sport.

      • most technical

Lol. Ball goes in net = One point. Yeah, so technical.

        most played, most watched

Herpes is also common, doesn't mean I want it too.

        most difficult to master

Guess that's why it's so popular with under 12s?

Lol obviously I'm kidding. But soccer (yes soccer, not football) fans get so sensitive. It's like a cult.

        • +1

          footy = national
          football = international

          end of story.

it's really typical of aussies to defend their skill-less macho sport to the death. personally i don't really care. enjoy the knee reconstructions and shattered bones.

this kind of attitude also filters down to every day society in australia. best practice for many things happens in the EU and other continents, but aussies always have to do it 'differently', and usually stuff it up and waste a whole lot of $$ in the process.

        • +1

One goal, one point. Why should it be more?
It's technical and difficult to get it in the net, far more difficult than holding a ball and running across an undefended line.

That's worth 4 points though. Then kick it somewhere near a massive target… Another 2. Lol.

It's popular with everyone but especially children because it's a good sport. It teaches a lot… Not how to beat women, stick your fingers in other players bums, get caught dealing drugs or poo in hotel hallways though. More stuff like teamwork and skill.

Also, it's football. It was football long before any other code and you kick the ball with your foot, rather than hold an oval ball and run into people.

          We're not sensitive, we're passionate!

        • @b0rat: it's not national. Some states play. Not the whole nation.

  • Thanks, bought at Dan Murphys. I don't think it comes with the cap but I'm not that bothered and no First Choice close to me.

Yeh France ended up winning it.

          @b0rat: my name-a-borat. I run-out the plus one ;)

    • +1

It's a crappy 500ml plastic cup that lights up when it detects sound

    • it is a pity it is cheap plastic

  • In Russia this was literally 2$ in the pub per half litre

    • +5

.. so it was more expensive in Russia?

      • +2

….I know this is OzBargain but have you ever been to a bar/club in Melbourne and purchased a beer? a Pint of bud will set you back around 10 easy

  • +3

$15 for cat's piss? Buy it if the taste doesn't matter to you or just to get a Cup which comes in the pack.

That's the real original yummy stuff:

I don't mind the stuff the few times I've had it, but it's been a while.

At this price I'm more than happy to have another go.

    Thanks OP!

  • America’s favourite beer, made in Australia.

    • i doubt that, i believe it would be UK brewed!

  • Click and Collect only in Brookvale

Yep, offers dead. Albany Creek QLD called me and said mine all sold before they could pick them so they got Straphine to put them on hold for me. Bit of a drive but awesome service. Go Dan! (bought from Dan Murphys as per comment above)

    • It's about 10 minutes difference…

      • Weird thing was they only had 15 (which they sold soon after) but the system let me order 16 from that store.

Strange that one got busted open. Maybe to display the cup?

  • Can anyone confirm where these are made…? Cheers

    • +1

      Australian made

      • Dan Murphy's says USA, but could be worng..

      • It says "origin= Australia" when you click the link

    • Aldi Bud Cans were brewed in UK!

  • Thanks, picked up what looked to be the last carton at my local Dan's!

    • Could you tell us where it's made?

      • Probably all aussie made due to world cup promo (mine from Dan's are) - not worth shipping them int'l with short window of appeal?

      • +1

Aussie. To be honest I preferred it to the American imported stuff.

  • +1

This is the beer benchmark for all American brewers.

Sierra Nevada and about 5000 other US craft brewers would beg to differ.

  • First choice on doncaster rd out of stock but bulleen dan murphys are doing same price, 2 packs left

  • Thanks. Bought the last 5 at my local dans.

Don’t really need the cups as brought a stack back with me from Russia. Will reminisce on an awesome trip and drink these bad boys.

  • Does anyone actually like this beer ? Best I can see in comments here is "don't mind it" .
I have never tried it, rarely drink. Just wondering if it's worth a try ?

    • It is trash. American version of VB…

      • American version of VB…

I hated taste of VB at first, but aquired a taste for it. It is bitter and something like pure blonde or Great northern, goes down much smoother.
        I like VB sometimes though.

        • I can drink VB just fine but the taste is nothing special. Not bitter compared to an IPA though!

    • +1

Best to give it a go. I like it. Pretty easy to drink.

I can't stand all the beer snobs on here.

Guess what, different people have different tastes.

If you don't like it, it doesn't mean it's crap. It just means it doesn't suit your tastes.

Most beer snobs poo poo everything other than the obscure local craft beer that they drink.

They like to look all sophisticated by drinking something that isn't sold in large quantities.

Sometimes I reckon they'd actually prefer some of the mainstream beers but they're too afraid to tarnish their reputation as some kind of beer connoisseur.

It's like the knobs who sit there and eat their $100 dish at some obscure restaurant consisting of deactivated almonds, lentil and free-range, high altitude, Lithuanian quail ear. Deep down they'd love a meat pie and sauce…..

      • I'm a beer snob but there are some big mainstream beers which taste nice (eg 1664 Blanc). However most mainstream beers are lagers, which are an unsophisticated style to begin with.

        • +1

I had to Google 1664 Blanc. Wouldn't call it mainstream.

I'm an unsophisticated Neanderthal though, that prefers to drink something like Great Northern, Pure Blonde or maybe Becks or Stella Artois if I'm feeling fancy…. :)

        • Never tried the Blanc. Might give it a go. I do enjoy the regular 1664 though, provided it is the genuine stuff from France. This Bud is not too bad really. Definitely better than VB.
