  • How is this ducted? Is it through a wall or the roof. When I got a duct kit for my rangehood, there were different kits depending on the type of roof.

I wouldn't think it is DIY. Most people don't have a powerpoint in the roof cavity. You'd need an electrician to wire it up and put a switch next to the light switch.

As far as ceiling exhaust fans go, ducted usually means it exhausts sideways out of a 100mm duct opening rather than being an open back (most times is a centrifugal fan)

DIY if you are replacing an existing fan, you would usually always have a power point there as well, rarely hard wired.

Difference in flow rates though, this site says 200m3/h, manufacturer site says 454m3/h. (First thought was they meant CFM, but 200 CFM is about 340m3/h)

      • Good points, tough crowd.

My comments were related to my laundry where I don't have a fan, so no powerpoint. My other fans in the bathroom and ensuite are hardwired.

      • Is there a diy video?

    • Only if you have a old house.

  • Umm, is this just the facia cover and not the fan itself? Website suggests its just the duct outlet.. But it has ball bearings?

don't worry this is a complete kit, its an exhaust fan prewired with 240V AU Plug
normally the builder would have included a powerpoint near the exhaust fan cutout hole
and as long as the cutout hole fit, you may simply plug it in and use.
      hope this helps.

  • It seems to be just the duct cover. They have the actual unit listed at $61.88 and it specifies a 50w motor which this does not.

the item spec was copied from heller website, not sure why they haven't included the motor wattage info
but it does mention the air flow of 200m3/h and other bits here too:

      Long life ball bearing motor

      • How does 200m3 compare?

        • -1

          very weak.

As a comparison, our new Rangehood with an external motor is rated at 2000m3/hr.

          @soupratt:

          You cook in your bathroom?

With 2000m^3/h you would save on towels

  • so …. this is not an exhaust fan ?

    just a plastic cover ???
