This hasn't been the best price for these cans (as it's been price jacked recently), but I thought $260 is a good midrange price and it's always good to keep a deal active for these incredible headphones.

  • I have these and they are a bit heavy so not the most comfortable headphones I have owned but the sound quality is the best, much better than my QC35 and HD598.

how is the clamping? will it suit those who require larger than average Akubras?

      • Clamping is somewhat strong but not a big issue…not too bad but certainly I can feel the clamping force and it will get uncomfortable after one or two hours, but mainly due to the heavy weight in my opinion.

      • I have a big head. First few weeks of ownership I couldn't really do more than a 4hr stint with these on.

Mine are now ~3 years old and have loosened up over that time. I can wear these all day without even realising it now. Maybe that's just me getting used to them, though.

  • I got a set of these recently for around the same price. Hearing that they were easy to drive and i was hoping to use them with my phone (LG V20) and my oculus go for watching movies. But i found that with both of those devices i had to have the volume at max to getok loudness but it still wasn't enough for me. Maybe i'm going deaf but i really thought they'd be louder. I ended up returning them. Still in the hunt for headphones now.

The issue with your V20 and the X2’s is that the headphones wouldn’t have triggered the HiFi DAC mode (more importantly, it bumps up the output voltage of the 3.5mm jack - like a low gain/high gain scenario) because the X2’s are under 50 ohm. There’s work arounds for this, but you’ve already returned them.

If it’s open backs you’re after, these can’t be beat for the price, and they’re easier to drive than the specs suggest. These would sound great through your V20, but perhaps not so much with your Oculus.

      • Yeah i did find out after i returned them that i could have triggered the DAC. But they were way too quiet with the oculus go. I think i'll end up finding some decent in ear headphones that way they will be easier to drive.
