9KG Gas Bottle Refills $15 @ Anaconda (30 Selected Stores)

1800

This one is back again thanks to gasbottlerefills.com. You have to say "I found you on GBR" when purchasing.

Currently $25.90 for 8.5KG swap at Bunnings. This deal is to refill a bottle, not for an exchange like Bunnings and servos.

If you use gas regularly I strongly recommend you to use the Gas Bottle Refills website, since it is very useful to find the nearest shops and the best prices.

    Hank Hill supports this deal

    • I tell you hwat

  • It has always been $15 for years. You don't have to say that silly phrase.
Just call the store before you go to confirm price and availability.

    • +1

May depend on store. My store was $19.95 for 9KG advertised, $15 for 4.5KG.

  • +2

You can no longer say "I found you on GBR" to get the discount you must present the barcode available on your link. Gas Bottle Refills is a great site.Taneda1988 $19.99 is the normal price https://www.anacondastores.com/services/gas-filling-station

    • It worked today 20/08/2018.

"I found you on GBR" and got it for $15.

  • +1

Jus look around ur local independent servos, they usually have them around this price point

  • +1

They probably will check the label for date on gas bottle.
If you need refill and they refuse, most service stations aren't fussed about checking the date.
Of course, for safety reasons, it is best to have everything changed/replaced/serviced every 10 years or whatever the rule is. But not everyone can afford to do this.

    • +4

Just do a one of gas bottle swap and pick a long dated bottle.

      • Can you do that with a bottle past its date already ?

        • +1

Yes you can. I've done it at Bunnings before, and the bottle was covered in rust as well.

  • Anyone know of the cheapest way to get a new 9 or 8.5kg bottle for my weber? So far it seems somewhere like Bunnings for the bottle then a refill?

    • I got all of mine for couple of $$ from markets and garage sales (usually have some gas still in them also) .
I did find they were past the date though, when tried to get refilled at major retailer (think it was BBQ galore) , the retailer then tried to sell me a new bottle, saying the cost of refitting/servicing/checking etc is more than its worth.
I just refilled at service station without issues or questions .

      • +1

I find Bunnings don't seem to look any more.

    • +6

I did it this way: I found a really old one on Gumtree for $5. Picked it up and went straight to get it swapped over for a full, long dated bottle.
All up, $31 plus the running around

    • +1

Always keep an eye out for rusty old bottles from clean up days.
Usually just swap n go at Bunnings. Up to 6 bottles at my place now.

  • This is an ongoing deal at Anaconda. However my experience with the refills at Anaconda(twice) and Barbeque Galore(once) has not been good. With the same daily usage, the refill bottles have lasted 5-6 days less as compared to swap bottles at Bunnings. Therefore I wonder if they refill it fully when you are paying $15? Has anyone else had the same experience?

    • +2

Check with a set of scales. The empty weight is stamped on the bottle.

    • I've had the opposite experience. All of my swap and go bottles have lasted less than the ones that I got refilled.

    • Never had issues with BBQ Galore refills. Also checked on scales the full bottle, weights as expected.

I once did quick mafs and it turned out bottled LPG is cheaper per unit of energy than the domestic gas I get at home.

So now I have more BBQs.

      Don't know where you reside?

In VIC I pay around 2c/MJ for mains gas - tho the daily supply charge is now around $300 yearly.
Gas heating for a Melbourne winter, with gas continuous hot water.

      IIRC a '9kg' bottle (~8.5kg contents) might contain around 420 - 440MJ.
For a $20 refill [from Bunnings, prior to losing sqillion$ due to overpaid, fatheaded overseas expansion dreams] works out at around 5c/MJ.

If using just a few MJ daily for cooking, or even modest use of hot water (low flow showerhead?) bottled gas may well be cheaper than mains!
$300/365/(5c-2c) suggesting an average usage of 27MJ daily as a cross-over point.

      Your figures might differ ;-)

      • 45kg bottles would be better for home use than 9kg

        https://www.elgas.com.au/for-home/gas-cylinder-sizes

        • Price wise they are not:
As this offer 9Kg of gas refill is $15 so 45Kg (5 times more) of gas should be $75 (5 X $15) … but 45Kg are much more, like $100/$120 each, and sometimes with a "holding deposit" or a yearly fee.

Been there, done that and a 9Kg is cheaper. To avoid running out of gas, usually at night, I have 2 X 9Kg gas bottles and I just swap.

Convenience wise, yes they are sort of better.
But be aware that they also run out of gas unless replaced when "almost empty" … so you are wasting some gas you paid for …
The solution is to have 2 X 45Kg gas bottles and the proper gas connection to flick between the two (empty and full).

Around Gold Coast City / Tweed Heads area AAA Comet Gas offers 45Kg @$100 delivered, no deposit and might gave you 2 X 45Kg bottles (@$200 ?) for the gas flicking thingy.

LPG can be used to mean any mix of propane and butane so you need to make sure you're looking at the correct gas.

The stuff you get in a BBQ bottle is pure propane.

Anaconda Tingalpa did this for me a few weeks ago, they quoted me $19.99 when I walked in so I said the "i found you on GBR" phrase and they said "oh ok thats $15 then."

  • +2

Thanks for the awesome GBR website, OP! Found some bargain refills for my area.

    • Yep, it's a good site!

  • I want my upvote back. My store is not on the list

  • Oh lordy, getting 3 refilled today and was going to go this morning to BCF as it’s closer but have left it for the afternoon. Perfect!

  • Will bunnings match this? Im too far from anaconda

  • Got a screenshot from BBQ galore, $15, from 3 years ago.. Still works hahaha

$14 from a caltex near me. worth looking around

Heads up - I went to my local to get 2 x 9kg bottles filled. Scanned the barcode and their system only allowed 1 x refill at $15, the other would be full price.. The catch was I HAD to sign up for membership and THEN could get both for $15. Still happy with the price thanks OP.

  • If gas isn't going up in the near future I might wait, as I already have plenty of gas at the moment.

    • Smell ya later

  • Just filled up 2 in Rockhampton. Cheers OP. If you are in QLD you will need a plastic cap/bung for your bottle. I'm from NSW so had no idea. The sell them at Anaconda for about $2 each. Cheers

  • If only they'd do a 4.5kg for $7.50.

$15 is still about as good as I've found even for 4.5kg so may as well get it done.

  • Anaconda Launceston has now becomes the 31st company store to offer 9kg gas bottle refills for $15.
