navigate seamlessly on two computers and copy-paste from one to the other.

Thanks, you’ve given me an idea for an office prank

    • +3

Yeah…covering the computer mouse led with sticky tape is getting old now.

      • +6

I still remember when you had to take the ball out of the mouse to achieve the same prank

  • I still remember wireless mouse back in 2010, they were bad and battery last a week or so. Technology has improved alot on these mice

    • +1

I remember wireless mouse from ~2004. They sure beat the hell out of mice with rollers, and the battery lasted at least a month

      • Yeah, I swear I had a M$ wireless mouse in 2000, had a mammoth ugly dongle and the range wasn't the greatest but it worked

  • Will this work between a pc and iPad

    • No the iPad has no mouse support unless you jailbreak it

    • Works between my PC and android though.

      • When you connect this to your Android device, does it make the on-screen keyboard disappear?

I have the Logitech MX Anywhere 2S, and it tells the host that it is both a keyboard and mouse. As a result, when you connect it to an Android device, the Android device hides the on-screen keyboard since it thinks you're connecting a physical keyboard.

I spoke to Logitech, and they're pretty useless, claiming that that's just how HID works. Which it is not, since I've used $10 cheap-ass BT mice with Android devices, and none of them cause the on-screen keyboard to disappear. Except the super-expensive all-bells-and-whistles Logitech multi-host mice. Well, the MX Anywhere 2S, anyway…

Thanks OP, just missed out on the Prime one so I had to pay $4.95 shipping because there was no stock for click and collect. Oh well.

Cheers mate, going to try and price match at my local HN.

  • +5

Just attempted my first price match with HN using their online chat and went through without a hitch.

They asked for my name and email and then generated a click through link which brought up the product with a promo discount applied matching it to JB's price :)

    • Thanks for the tip. I did the same. Cheers

  • +1

Thanks, been looking for a multi-device wireless mouse. This is perfect!

  • Got one matched at HN. Thanks. Anyone recommend a keyboard to go with this?

  • Sounds like an ugly hack, (and a potential security hole) when you should be using "remote desktop",
or better, X-windows to have windows on the same desktop connected to different hosts.

You can have a second monitor on your PC dedicated to the remote desktop session, and the mouse cursor will move smoothly between the two.
No just restricted to Windows and mac either.

    • Could the person with the hurt feeling please explain? Clearly I am missing something.

      • They're just being a jerk, so don't let it bother you. Too much of that around here, sadly.

If you just want the functionality to control two PCs with one Keyboard / Mouse use Mouse Without Borders if they're both Windows machines, or Synergy for Windows / Mac / Linux.

    • that MWB … somewhat missing cursor when hover over the win10 start menu or volume/wifi or notification center

any idea of a fix ?

    • I found Mouse Without Borders to be awesome when it worked. It wasn't always reliable though (not working after reboots etc). Got too frustrating so I stopped using it. I've just bought the above, hoping it works more consistently.
Synergy looks good too, but at US$29, the Logitech is cheaper (and includes a mouse).

      • I remember it as reliable, but then I was always running the latest versions of Windows, so wondering if they don't test it with older versions. I use Synergy (1.x) because of Linux support, I find it less reliable and more difficult to get working than MWB. Synergy 2.0 turned in to a fiasco because it was released too early and they were not able to fix user issues in a reasonable time, so it went back to beta.

I'd expect the Logitech software will only work with Logitech hardware and I don't like their keyboards or mice, so that would be a bit too big a restriction :)

      • i assume you have separate keyboards for each ?

    • Buying a USB switch for 15 bucks is easier.

Press a button to change. Press it again to change back.

Get at least 2 ports for mouse and keyboard.

Thanks OP. Picked one up at the Bourke Street store.

Thanks, cleared out my local JB

    Time to re-sell for profit

    • Broden. That you?

  • If you're partial to red and click and collect a black one, they had some reds on the shelf this morning but website said no stock.

  • Bought one, works nice, switch between two comps by pressing a button. Only complaint this doesn't have 7 buttons, it has left, right, back, forward and the wheel.only way you could say 7 is if you included the on/off button and the one for switching computers.

    • Why 7? Our hand has 5 fingers only..

      • +1

With that logic, what kind of keyboard do you use?

    • Doesn't it have the left/right tilt on scroll wheel? These two actions are by default set for horizontal scrolling, but can be customized.

      • true, it does. But by that logic, it has 9 buttons including scroll up and scroll down. The only reason I mention it at all though is that the packaging says 7 buttons as though it is a feature. But then again, the mouse is clearly visible from packaging. Just general corporate shenanigans really…

  • How does this compare size wise to the Anywhere 2S? I'm using a vety basic Logitech notebook mouse and it's about time to change to something better but can't decide on this or pay more for the 2S.

    • Answer my own question
      Anywhere 2S
      Height x Width x Depth: 100.3 mm x 61.6 mm x 34.4 mm
      Weight: 106 g

      M585
      Height x Width x Depth: 103 mm x 64 mm x 40 mm
      Weight: 101g

    • I own both and the 2S feels nicer in the band however lacks a middle click button that I extensively use.

The M585 is just a great basic workhorse

I am using my old G700 in the office. Wireless is a must for office environment

    • So we can steal and hide each other's mouse?

Bought one Coral colour, thanks OP.

  • Weird can't find this at office works, there is m590 not m585.
Wanting to price match… Oh well

    • The Logitech unifying receiver lists it as a "m590/m585".

      • found the differences, 590 has silent button.

Thanks OP. Just bought one via Harvey Norman price match scheme (just spoke to their online chat person and got a unique discount code sent to me). Been meaning to get myself a Bluetooth mouse for some time, and this one comes highly rated by the Wirecutter folks.

  • Dang - was hoping to price match with Harvey Norman but they only sell the graphite one and JB now shows the graphite one as "limited stock" and "not available for click and collect" which are the reasons online chat wouldn't price match :-( Officeworks don't have this model. Anyone know anywhere else that might price match?

  • Bugger, looks like it's back up to full price $49.

    • thanks, looks like i am saving $25.

  • Mine arrived yesterday. I actually think I don't like it! The scrolling is really odd, and the buttons must be really sensitive because when I middle-click the scroll, it right clicks too? I have a Logitech M238 that I've been using for the past year and I much prefer it to this one, I gotta say. Maybe I just need to get used to the M585, but at the moment I've gone back to my little M238. I have really giant hands too so I thought I'd be way more comfortable with the 585 but I guess not.
