Not a dupe but compliments that 250+ voted half price Mayvers Peanut Butter Spread for $2.50 post.

    • They're not usually on sale together hence people getting excited! The tahini is delicious and a steal at this price - I stocked up last time and have run out. It was October last year it was last at this price so stock up!

The peanut butter was already posted.

has anyone tried any of the spread above?
    any recommendations?

    • The cacao blend is disgusting.
Edit: sorry I'm thinking the Super spread, not tried these

      • I love both of the cacao blends - and also the cacao super spread: clearly we all have different tastes 😊

The Mayver's Peanut Butter with hemp seeds or 'super seeds' were $2.75 at my Coles this morning.
I prefer these to the plain peanut butters, just an FYI.

I bought the hemp seed PB spread today. It is delicious.

    • Oh yeah! I hope it's that price at my local and I'll buy the shelf.

Verdict on Coconut & Cacao Spread?

  • That cacao one does not look appealing

    • I enjoy the super spread cacao version, taste nutella-ish but healthier. Peanuts + chocolate should be good though.

  • Coles still have free bags?

    • Yeah, they prepared us for the Mayvers special

    • Not in SA..

    • Until end August.

the tahini spread rocks, the cacao spread is meh

gonna have a trolley full of Mayvers today

    • Which Tahini spread do you think is nicer the hulled or unhulled ?

      • edit: i cant recall which one i tried :(

        • oh Thanks ):

      • I usually buy both. I use hulled on dates, and unhulled for other stuff (like a spread) that require a richer more intense flavour.

        • Thanks… The unhulled is the one I would be after. Went to Coles today they had neither in stock will try next time.

    • got the tahini spread. Nasty shit! Grrr… why do people like it? There's a reason why they are not as popular as peanut butter

      • which one did you try?

i got unhulled (dark) and hulled (light) - the unhulled one sucksssss

        • got the unhulled one

because bloody zenex2 poster above, said the unhulled one is more like a spread. Well I was planning to use it to make sandwiches and it just plain nasty.

        • @first in line: yeah the unhulled is thicker. i tried it with rice crips - not fun at all.

i had tried the hulled one long before and it was closer to what Tahina is supposed to taste like, but was is kinda watery (which is how it is usually)

Woohoo, thanks OP! I really love the cacao spreads…

    • Big fan of cacao but not of nutella. Is this more cacao or just another sugary nutella wannabe with cacao for colour?

EDIT: Ohh just checked sugar content. Now i'm interested! Keen to hear your take on it, might grab a few of these.

      • +1

It's not super sweet like Nutella.

    • went pb shopping
could not spot cacao spreads or the tahini
do they usually live in the same aisle?

      • My local Coles has them in different places: no idea why. Try looking where they have Nutella, etc. then also look in the health food section - and of course ask someone who looks like they've been there a while :)

      • Tahini is often among the lealth foods. Aisle 11 in my local branch.

  • Excellent! I already knew about the peanut butter but not the tahini!

Will you be making some hummus for Robin?

      • +3

        That is Alfred's job.

  • great

  • +1

Anyone tried almond, coconut and cacao spread? Sounds quite nice. Will definitely be stocking up on dark roast and tahini!

    • Yup! I really like it. I either eat it off a spoon, or add to a frozen banana and protein powder smoothie

      • but it's almost double the price for less

        worth it ?

        • I usually have cacao super spread and cacao peanut butter: the coconut and almond is less often because it's more expensive.

You could buy one and try it, rather than load up your basket with them…

Mayvers super protein peanut spread is the most multicultural spread of the lot
less than 10% of the peanuts were born in Australia

    • I went to Coles Melb Central just after lunch today to grab a jar of the regular Mayvers Peanut spread but it was completely sold out. The protein version had one jar remaining so that's what I had to get. It's not bad.

  • is this tahini spread suitable to make home made hummus? thanks

    • Yes it is. I make my own hummus with this tahini regularly.

    • Defin itely, and it is very rarely half price.

  • Does it also apply to Coles Express?

  • +1

Fme dead, Coles World Square got hammered! Nothing but empty shelves

  • +1

To anyone wanting to get this, they are going fast and most of the shops were out of stock by the end of the 1st day of sale.

  • Very true. All the peanut butter with hemp seeds gone today.

I grabbed some roasted ones and unhulled tahini.

  • +1

Are they in the catalogue? If so, don't forget to get raincheck vouchers if they're not available on the shelves.

  • I can't find the Organic Cacao Peanut Spread in store anywhere :/?

  • I got the organic Coconut and Peanut spread and unfortunately the spread had separated and it ended up being a soupy sort of product. I ended up having to use my butter knife to stir it all up to re-mix the separated ingredients back into a sludge that just dripped all over my bread. Next time I think I need to just stick in a chopstick and stir it for about 5-10 minutes to being it back up to some sort of think consistency but if you have to make that sort of effort for some peanut butter each time you want to use it then… MEH.

Overall was not a pleasant experience. Taste was ok.

A common tip among Ozbargain aisles is to store the jar upside down; which I suppose makes it easier to emulsify when eating time comes around.

    • +1

Yup, agree about storing upside down: shouldn't separate that much again, though, once you've stored it after opening. The cacao peanut butter doesn't usually separate as much as the coconut and almond.

Much better this way than having evil additives…

    • Thanks guys, good to know. +1 to all!
