    I’m not sure what Spotify connect is but I have one of these speakers and it runs Spotify independently from my phone; I’m typing this while my phone is turned off and the speaker is playing my voice-chosen song.

    The lack of battery is a killer. If only they’d fitted one, this speaker would be perfect.

  We have one in the Kitchen. We love the clock on the side. Otherwise same as a Google Home but with much better sound, though still not as good as say a Bose Soundlink mini. Great value for that price though.

    Would you say the sound is powerful?
    The Google Home has good bass, but the mid and highs are absolutely terrible. I have to set the equalizer to minimum bass and maximum treble, otherwise it is too horrific to listen to.

      I'd say the sound is actually well balanced. Less bass than a Bose mini but it goes waaaay louder. It's pretty crazy how loud it goes for the size, but sound gets a bit harsh up there. It's no HiFi system, but serves it's purpose well.

    It’s certainly loud and of decent quality too. The hand gesture volume control is a bit off but hey-ho, still worth the money.

    It’s currently getting hammered by Dan Carlin’s Hardcore History and Dan’s voice is superb on it, as is any music I’ve played.

  These are good, but the hand gesture volume control is broken - just use voice commands.It appears to do everything a Google home does, we have a mini in another room, but this sounds much better.

  I'm thinking of buying one to replace the Google home in the bedroom. The clock would be extremely handy, but I read that the Google assistant volume is not able to be turned down? Can someone confirm please?

    I'm not 100% sure but with all other Google home devices I've used the google assistant operates at the speaker level. Turning the volume up or down turns all volume up and down including Google assistant volume.

    No truth to that rumor. The Volume controls assistant too as normal.
    Clearly that reviewer has no idea.. In fact you can even set it to go into a nightly quiet mode between certain hours so it automatically reduces the volume at night and back to normal during the day.
