It's edge lit.. so probably fake HDR.
Therefore, it is an entry level 4K tv with some good features.
Considering it does 4K;60p it will be good for console gamers IMO.
Negs: IPS screen (TBC) is it has Greys in the dark and also DSE… so viewing the TV in the dark can do some ppl's head in looking a the Grey Scale and the Backlit dimming Light array flashing off/on

WebOs is garbage imho. My in laws have it their LG tv I hate it. But I a good price for the TV.

samsung have a better color panel. the LG use an IPS panel and yes its also edge lit like the samsung is too. but the IPS panels dont have a wide viewing angle
OLED have no white and bad brightness that also has bleed and burn in over time but yes, its great blacks
the best is the samsung Q9 backlit LEDs. Alas price is outragous for the tech… So wait for black friday deals
I thought IPS panels were known for wide angle viewing and VA panels were not.
You would’ve thought right. VA panel (Samsung) have poor viewing angles, IPS panel (LG) have great viewing angles but poor blacks.
Probably would look at the Q7 even though edge lit. It’s a super bright screen, and HDR isn’t just applicable to TVs with FALD. In fact for HDR games the Q7 would produce more dazzling HDR.
I would probably get the Q8 over the Q7 but don’t let edge lit be the reason to shy away from a TV. HDR on a super bright panel with or without FALD still would look amazing.
