  • Whats the difference between this and the V7 Animal? Attachments?

    • +10
    • +1

The Animal has the motorised pet hair attachment - which is worth it even for human hair. It's not so wide and has a rotating brush inside with more bristles than the standard head.

    • Can you buy the animal attachment separately?

      • No you cannot buy it separately, only as a replacement if it came with the model.

      • If it's anything like the previous accessories, you can buy it as a spare from Dyson service centres.

  • +6

Might be worth waiting to see if they update the price on their eBay Store after 10AM to use the 15% off code.

    • Good point.

      • +1

        Pricing just updated :)

    • Looks to be 397 on ebay so down to $337 now

      • Yeah, the price just got updated. Wasn't when I posted.

  • $399 at Dyson official store too.

  • +2

$337.45 if buying from TGG ebay

  • Wanted to buy 1 but anyone who has one can please give some feedback?
    Also:
    - How long does it take to charge from flat to full?
    - After full charge can it be turned off from the dock and use it next time?

    • +1

Not sure about the V7, but the V6 and a couple of earlier models all take a few hours (maybe 3-4) to charge from flat. The earlier ones are good for little cleans, the V6 on are ok for a quick spritz of a flat or even a small house. The only drawback is when they do go flat you can't just stick in another battery and continue - you have to wait for it to charge. Hey Dyson, you listening? - removable batteries exist!

Not sure what you're asking in your second question. If you're asking does the charger stop charging when it's fully charged - yes.

      • +1

4.5 hours to charge the V7s and it turns itself off after fully charged.

As for removable batteries, the reason why they don't do removable as removable can be damaged over time from constant removing them, the connection plates wear out quicker.

The batteries are also not standard lithium batteries like the ones that are removable.

        • +1

Funny then that cordless tools manage fine. Of course they could do it. Once they drop their corded models completely I reckon they will have removable batteries. Or a very fast charge like mobile phones.

      • thanks guys for the info :)

  • Can't apply the voucher code for some reason, I get 'This code can't be applied to your order.'
    Never used it before either…

    • Is your account registered to Australia?

      • Yeah, it's an Australian account and I've had it for over 10 years…. weird..

        • +1

That is very odd, I'd just jump on live chat and ask them what's going on, if they can't fix it they usually just make a new code for you to use.

        • +1

@doweyy: Yeah, I just did, they generated a 1 time code for me. Thanks!

    • I am also getting an error "We ran into a problem. Please try again later." …Weird…:(

  • why no HEPA

    • +1

      dyson = apple

      pay more for hepa

      • Nope, they have designed it to not need HEPA, Australian Asthma Foundation wouldn't approve the models if they were effective as HEPA.

        • What are you on about??

Either way, no vacuum cleaner needs a HEPA filter, the asthma sufferers does.

Dyson tend to only install the HEPA filter on top of the line Absolute models

  • hard to choose between this one and v6 animal ($349), which looks cool :p

    • This has got extra run time and power so might be worth it? Unless you need the extra accessories that the Animal has.

      • +2

Extra run time yes but less power.
        V6 = 28aw
        V7 = 21aw

Batter is same less power gives you more run time.

Also hugeinic hin empty8mg is the biggest +1.
I have v7 and a bigger house so really happy with v7 run time and the cleaning result.

        • Ah damn didn't realise it was the same battery size.

        • thanks for clarifying that

  • Hi All, how does it compare to the V8 (much more expensive)?

    • +1

Performance wise not sure, but battery life wise, 30mins vs 40mins of use.

    • +1

Less power and run time. V8's have extra HEPA filter too, and depending on which V8 you get (like the absolute) you can get the fluffy hard floor head which you can't buy separately.

      • Thanks - I have hard floor (timber) so I guess that is what I would be looking for.
        Will wait :)

  • +1

These product variants are so hard to figure out… So is the main difference the product head?

Any recommendations on what to get for a mix of carpet and hardwood? No pet other than on rare occasions we’re dog sitting.

    • Motor head is same on all variants. You need absolute variant in either v6 or v7 as it comes with hard floor tool which does amazing job on picking up debris from hard floor.

Default motorized head is great for carpet and just ok on the floors.

  • I bought the V6 Absolute for $399 a few months back. I was a bit sceptical, but these things are amazing. Just a shame the battery doesn't last longer.

  • Is this one suitable for all hard floor household? Tiles and timber floorings, not carpets other than small rugs.

    • Yup absolute is what you want because of the floor tool.

  • Hi all,
P15GUYS code isn't working.has it worked for any body?

    • it works

    • Worked at 12pm for me.

  • bought one

  • On Catch, v6 absolute is $431 before 10% student discount, plus the 15% off catch gift card deal, making the price of v6 absolute almost the same as this v7 cord free.

any advice on the selection between this two?

    thanks

    • nvm, bought v7 in the end.

  • Looks like TGG are not selling V8 anymore? Can someone confirm please?

  • The bargain is the NEW Vax VX58 SlimVac Cordless Handstick Vacuum @AU $149.00 as its AU $126.65 after the 15% and its as good as the V6/V7 Animal as it has a powered head! FREE pickup so Im off to collect mine after 12PM tomorrow. I was tempted by the DYSON but parts are expensive & after all, its just dust…

BTW I use a LiOn Cordless hoover to daily clean up my cats littler box floor mess and it works a treat, so this new ones for the house and the hoover can be the cats… The old upright dustbuster style hoover rocks and cost me a bit over $100 and the VAX is a great upgrade over that! And yes i have used and friends that use the DYSON(s) and if wishers were horses, then by all mans as for the price of the V7 on sale i could buy 3 of the VAXs!

    Just saying…! LINK www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-Vax-VX58-SlimVac-Cordless-Handstick-…

Next VAX up the range for LONG 45min runtime and bigger capacity is the Vax VX63 Blade Pet Pro at about $250RRP

    • +1

Reviews for the VX58 are not very positive though.
What do you say about that?

      • youtube reviews looked fine to me, so I dont know what the reviews you mention are but feel free to post them for me

I have a VAX vac, its been great for years, its just the cordless rocks for ease for my small spaces

Ive seen this model, asside from the basic charging setup, its fine with a wide assortment of included attachments & its not like the DYSON is itself PERFECT!

        • Hey mate. I like your suggestion because of the price, and in fact I need just an simple vacuum to complement my Xiaomi robot.

My question is, does it have a soft head for hard floors so it doesn't damage it? Do you use it in hard floors? If so, how does it perform in hard floors?

          Cheers,

        • @ricdam:

I bought it and I have hard floors and it works a treat! you can turn off the powered head for hard floors but i dont

its amazingly good for a cheap vac, with decent runtime for a 18v LiOn

        • @srhardy: what kind of hard floor do you have? I have laminated so need a soft head, is that included? Cheers mate

        • +1

          @ricdam:

The 'soft head' is relative, its bristled so yes, its a soft head but its not like the awesome, fluffy dyson 'Soft roller cleaner head' but its like the standard 'Direct Drive Cleaner Head'

for the money, depending in ebay sale offer, its a great buy!

I have tiles, woodern floor boards & rough unfinshed concrete and it does it all

  • seems like they've taken it out of the listings… can't seem to find this in their ebay store anymore…
