    Wow thats an excellent price.
Has anyone got the same 50" TV?
    Can you share your experience?
I may have to think about upgrading mine…

    • +1

I do have this tv… very happy with it… great 2D picture. Media player is not bad, record or pause live tv needs to be to a powered USB drive, not a flash drive. I paid $1539 from JB in Dec and had to pick it up myself, but it did come with $1200 "worth" of freebies. 1 set of glasses in the box but I got another 3 via redemption.

  • +2

Nice price, I picked up one of these from JBHiFi [Victoria] over the weekend for $2066.

    • +3

if u paid by amex/visa see if your entitled to price protection. If you find a cheaper price your cc re-imburse u the difference in price :D

      • +2

Really, I thought I was getting a great deal at that price so am not too fussed. Never heard of this price protection via Visa before. Might have to look into it.

        FYI I got the 58"

Usually the T&Cs are can't be online sale (even if BL are brick and mortar), must be in writing and has to be within 25km radius of initial purchase (BL are only in NSW/ACT).

        • +2

Looks like I'm out of luck then, but I'm still happy with the price I got mine for.

    • jbhifi runs the same '14 day price guarantee' that dicksmith does

couldnt find it on the aus site but searched and it came up on the nz site

      http://search.dse.co.nz/electronics-nz/14-Day-Price-Guarante…

harvey norman do a 7 day price Guarantee
      http://www.harveynorman.com.au/page/1255511667120/best-price…

if i was you i would print out the bing lee price or get a quote from them.

go in ask to speak to a manager (nicely!) and just say that Im back in regards to a price guarantee.

dont get snappy over it, just ask nicely etc

Damn….if only this item was eligible for the free Bing Lee 20pc Chinese dinner set!

  • +3

    Damn, I wish I had monies…

  • +4

I've had the 50" for a month, bought for $1500 while the promotions were still running.
Great TV so far. Slow EPG at times (I've read it improves) but picture quality is great!

I went and picked up a Samsung 3D Blu-Ray player (BD8900A) from Bing Lee to secure my free 20pc Chinese dinner set and boy am I happy with my setup. Eating Chinese food while watching 3D movies is an experience.

  • whats the extended warranty price, say 4 years bring it up to 5? can't seem to find it

    • -1

We do offer it. Call our sales team 1300 980 399.

  • What is the bonus offer then as ash2000 says it is not eligible for the Chinese dinner set

  • +3

Having just had one of these delivered today from Bing Lee all I can say is beware……….TV was faulty within 10 minutes of turning it on (picture replaced with green static) and the rep at Bing Lee basically told me that there's nothing they can do because I damaged the box when opening it and they can't transport it as a result (whilst 'politely' calling me an idiot for not thinking ahead that the TV might be fault and I'd need the box).

Hopefully Samsung are slightly more reasonable, because having just got off the phone with the last rep at Bing Lee I'd want nothing to do with them ever again.

    • why cant they deliver another set and put the faulty one in that box…..me thinks they lie to you

      • +1

Since when you need the original box to replace a faulty item. I'm sure there is no sign on the box that says
"Keep box undamaged just in case the the item is faulty and needs to be returned"
I'm sure Samsung will be more than happy to replace it. It's covered
by the manufacturers warranty!! You will be right mate.

        • +1 the box is irrelevant. but you shouldn't have to resort to samsung. just get bing lee to get it replaced (not repaired) or to get a refund.

      • +1

Apparently, as I can only accept delivery on Saturday, it is not an option to re-pack the old TV into a new box as their drivers strictly do deliveries and nothing else. Looks like there is some resolution anyway to try and reuse the old box if possible, just to keep it from getting damaged so I'll retract some of my frustration. Note for anyone buying this TV though - keep the box in A1 condition just in case. Here's hoping TV #2 doesn't have the same issues

    • You should research "statutory warranty" - you have serious rights in this instance. They've sold you a high-end electronics item that's not in "merchantable quality".

Here's where I started many moons ago: http://www.dtvforum.info/index.php?showtopic=84941

A huge percentage of these sorts of claims get settled to mutual satisfaction - because what the retailers don't want you to discover is that liability for selling goods of "merchantable quality" comes back to them, not the manufacturer.

Read up, push hard, Illegitimi non carborundum.

    • contact your local consumer affairs organisation. they will quickly sort mr bing out. just opt for a full refund. they don't deserve your money.

also when you buy online, according to the accc, it is the retailer's responsibility to bear the cost of transporting the item back http://www.accc.gov.au/content/index.phtml/itemId/918525

    • Hehe, that's why I don't trust BingLee(Well, maybe not all BingLees) I am talking about the one at Eastwood. Gosh, their Customer service was crap!!! I bought TV, fridge, washing machine, and other stuff…when they delivery to my place there was no washing machine. and I went to the shop and checked with them, and that guy was not helpful at all….told me run out of stock(But I paid about 2 wks in advance, that time there were lots.) then they sent me a faulty one. and also they "served" us with the worst attitude I ever seen in SYDNEY!!!
I will ask for price match from other shops if I could. If not, no business!!!

    • Did you buy the Extended Warranty Plan for the carton? Caveat emptor!

  • Any 3D glasses included?

    • +1

1 set is included in the box. Cheers

  • Does it come with 3D Glasses?

The Samsung Website says "3D Glasses 1 Pair (Extra Pairs Sold Separately)"

But the Bing Lee Website says "3D Glasses (3D Glasses Sold Separately): No"

    • +1

You get 1 pair in the box with the TV. Note these are not the re-chargable battery variety however.

  • +1

My 50" last month came with 1 pair of glasses in the box.

    • Hot price!

    •

    • that's more expensive though!

      • I meant Bing Lee's price is hot

  • Hey guys,

Sorry for the ignorance but why is PlASMA so much cheaper than LCD other than it consumes more energy??

    • +1

It costs more to produce LCD panels, than PLASMA panels.

      • +2

Oh I C Thanks. Cause the picture quality looks amazing on some of these panels yet most people seem to go for LCD's.

        • +1

You'll get deeper blacks with a Plasma, over a LCD.

        • Is that a good thing?

Plasmas being at least a few hundred dollars cheaper surely can't be that much more expensive to run can they?

        • +1

@IanPlatypus - Current model plasmas are very similar as far as power consumption goes compared to an LCD. Plasma FTW

        • Plasma's also tend to work better in a slightly darker environment. In my lounge, there's tons of light coming in because 1 whole side has windows (with blinds and curtains which we open). LCD is generally more suitable for such an environment.

    • -2

plasmas dont last as long as LCDs as the gas dissipates overtime and the older the set the darker the picture comes dont expect to get more than 5 years from a plasma

      • +2

lol maybe with plasmas 10 years ago.. Pretty irrelevant to todays plasmas

  • +1

Great price for both 50" and 58".

        • My customer service experience with bing lee wasn't good either. I had so much trouble with exchanging a dead on arrival dvd combo player (not refund or anything just a straight swap). You get what you pay for I guess.

  • +1

    I'm in WA. I'm sad :(

    • +3

Call us - 1300 980 399 and we can do you a deal

      • $300 shipping. Still decent, but no longer a killer deal. Hardly your fault though, it's a long way to take a big TV.

  • Hi BingLee.. i'm in Adelaide and ordered last Thursday. Would it have been shipped by now?

  • +1

  • When I first saw this deal I was like AWESOME! But it's a plasma…

    There goes my gaming :(

Actually, read some reviews.. It would suit me fine!

    • +1

You wont get lag like an LCD. Just gotta watch for image retention.
