  • +2

yeah more to forums as you do not know what it is

  • they forgot the #1 server crash badge

  • 4 used tissues? When did they become "Australia's #1 Online dept Store"

  • Hmmmmm

    It even says;
    Don't Get Your Hopes Up

I have heard of $400 mobile phones being slipped into the mystery box. (Sorry, was quoted as $349 worth)

I still laugh at the name 'mystery box'. Sounds like a few hookers, you never know what you'll get in their 'mystery box'. 'Catch' of the day :P

    • +1

That must have been by mistake!

    • +1

I still laugh at the name ‘mystery box’.

Still sounds better than pooki box IMHO.

      • jeez. pauly ;)

  • +5

    Love the warning message:

I understand that the quantities available per item are very limited and there is a slim chance of getting the deal. I know that I am competing for access to this deal with hundreds of thousands of other shoppers. I realise that with such a large amount of interested visitors the website is bound to crash and slow down. Knowing all the above, I still choose to participate and will not whinge afterwards. Come on, let me in already!

LOL, I wonder who that message is targeted at.

    • alright since it's a bargain
      i will + for this

hope for the best, expect the best ;)

there are lots of double standards on this site. other deals get deleted because of lack of details. competitions get deleted. this is like a lottery for mugs where you are guaranteed to lose.

      • Totally agree - but that's not only by mods its also by many of the members too, in comments and voting…pity someone created the colour grey. LOL

        • +3

pity someone created the colour grey

Sorry, that was me…I was aiming for a dazzling silver but got my pigments off COTD! :p

      • +2

        Agree 100%

      • +2

These Bag of Crap deals are honestly advertised… they are Crap!
I wasted my money once, never again! And I will warn people to not waste theirs…

      • Mods are having a discussion about mystery deals now … based on when different people log in during the day, we may have a consensus or agreement in a couple days.

I'm pretty sure they'll send me an iPad, a 32" LCD, a WD hard drive and a pair of Havaianas! Here's hoping! :D

    • Very likely. My bet is on a Kevin Sheedy DVD.

      • i received my one of that already!
they were trying to sell(well give away) useless things

      • +4

Don't you mean four Kevin Sheedy DVD's? OMG, now THAT would be amazing! Christmas = sorted!

  • Really wanna know what garbage they send you

  • +3

make sure I fill up the product descriptions with beautifully constructed sentences and grammer.

    Shame they can't spell. lol

How is this a bargain when we don't know what it is?

  • +8

how on earth can spending $15 on something unknown possibly be considered a deal?

    • It's kind of like voting…voting on someone (or something) you don't really know and hope you get something special.

  • +1

    From some old forum posts:

    1

I bought it once, it was utter crap. It had like random USB Christmas ornaments that lit up when plugged in, some football trivia DVD, french fry holder for the car, an aluminium bottle and some other random stuff.

    2

I got the Office pack and the Computer pack. So not sure which was which. One pack was a cheap tool case with various screw drivers, sockets and bits. The other was a pack of Star Wars colouring pencils & a desk pencil/clock/thermometer thingy (which had a $9.95) sticker on it.

    3

Received my box this morning, the cuddlee was literally a blanket with holes in it, as expected lol. The 4 other items were complete crap, like a few colourful plastic plates, a wierd lipstick colour, putty and a folding hanger with a $1 stickers on em. Would be worth buying a box of pookie, unless they guarantee a decent item.

    4

    Mine was awesome.

I got a XS Ladies body contour undergarment. (I’m a XXL Man)
    -Mascara
    -LipGloss
    -Pedicure Bling
    -Perfume Sample

    • some football trivia DVD
I got a XS Ladies body contour undergarment. (I’m a XXL Man)

      LOL

guess it's just a luck game

    • +1

      Sure he wasn't a "lady"? ;-)

    • You had me at car french fry holder! :O

Click, click, buy! Please, please, please let me get that, the Cuddlee blanket with sleeves, the Star Wars pencils, and the squeezy underdrawers!

    • At 4, maybe they figured he could use the gifts to give to his missus/gf?

  • +3

Anything you have seen on catchathons repeatedly is likely to be in the mystery box.

It is made of stuff that they cannot sell

    • Too right!!!

  • +2

let's all give this deal a "mystery" vote!

  • +1

Bought this 'Mystery items' twice from COTD, for $15 they're actually worth the money you pay if you're buying from a retailer… the thing is, it's very unlikely that you're gonna need them and virtually what i got are toys for small kids and some other crap~

    • +1

I've also bought them from COTD twice, but for me both times they've been plain old shite! The last one was mostly filthy, torn, musty smelling IT books from 1995…seriously, if they're not gonna let me use their DeLorean why would they send me the Windows 95 Almanac! Hello, McFly…

Oh, but I did get a Cricket Supporters Mini Shirt with suction cup to stick on the car window…I couldn't even get my three year old neice to take that off my hands! :o

  • +3

The mystery box could be anything! Maybe even a boat!

    • +2

^ ah I remember a family guy episode where Peter has to decide from either a free boat or what was inside the Mystery box.
Guess what he choose…the mystery box
His justification : A boat's a boat, but a Mystery box could be anything, it could even be a boat!

      • The video you linked contains swears including the F word at least 50 times

Yes, there are some curse words in the song, there is also foul language in most other modern comedy too; the number is somewhat irrelevant.

Bear in mind there are a lot of links to similar Youtube material by a lot of people that don't get deleted. It's a mainstream site, and the clip is by a very popular group, plus there are warnings about any profanity prior to viewing clips, so punters can make up their own mind.

So you're saying you deleted the entire comment for what, the link, the lyrics, or both? Who am I talking to BTW? It's difficult to have a cogent discussion with an unnamed mod who replies by putting me in the penalty box.

        • Go to the talk with a mod thread and continue there that way you can discuss the issues, with all the mods should you really be that concerned.

And if you see other videos that are just as bad. Do the right thing and report them. This is a G rated site. If you want to change that rating talk with Scotty, dont just sit here and ignore it. Thanks

  • +1

    i think i will get a ps3 in it…be jealous guys

  • +1

Seriously, they must have such a laugh when they pack these things at the COTD warehouse. I bet when they see a customer name like Kevin Jones, they pull out the expired lip glosses, sparkle stickers, and broken Bratz doll.

  • +2

Cheaper than rubbish disposal for them LOL.
Good luck with those that take the risk…????
Send me $15 and I will send you 5 mysteries!!
Honestly, how can this really be a bargain mod?

  • +1

in b4 "MY MYSTERY BOX SUCKS!"

    You know its inevitable :)

  • +4

I've negged previous "bargains" like this, so for consistency's sake I need to neg this. :P

CotD are just getting rid of old junk, and if their past "lucky dips" are anything to go by, it's highly unlikely you're going to get $15 of value out of this. Just like a lottery, only suckers will take this up.

  • +4

This really isn't a bargain per-say and i don't think cotd has earnt back the trust that has lost with this community and the wider public.
The shipped product could be a complete pile of crap, or it could be a great deal…but at the end of the day I don't visit this site to view lucky dips, I come here to score great bargains. Mods -please reconsider this posting and throw this over got the forums or the wiki…

  • +1

"Mod note: Keeping it as bargain instead of forums for consistency sake, #1 #2"
Keeping something like this purely for "oonsistency sake" is poor form. Take the hint with the ratio of negative:positive votes cast on this and the two other previous 'bargains' (if u can call them that).

If only my account was old enough to cast neg vote =[

  • +2

Mystery is not a bargain coz you don't know what you're getting.

    • 100% agree! Guess what! My mystery vote is red ;)

  • +1

Based on previous mystery boxes i bought off COTD, its worthless junk!

  • +1

Im not spending $15 on nothing.
They do have some useless crap on there

  • -4

I submit this on here because ozbargain is about deals and to find out who is crooks and nice guys so you can see there is more than 44 comments which all most every one shows there is frustration regarding how this Australia's no 1 online shops make money out of people. So while we make them rich they send us crap. So i just want to every one know that what will they send for there Mystery Items. Well if there are nice guys they might send a good stuff which will lead every one to post nice comment about them so let's just wait and see.

    • +1

So if you are not sure if they send good or crap staff why you don't wait and see and vote AFTERWARDS?
All of you who vote positive, can you please tell me how much money you saved on this bargain and what's the lowest "not bargain" price?

  • +1

No bargain as you don't know what you're getting.

  • +1

A lucky dip is not a deal

  • My last box I got a coat hanger, broken door alarm, a keyring and a pen. WOW

  • +1

I have a great unique idea for http://www.baybeans.com.au

    Introducing the Mystery box. Give me $15 plus postage and I will send you four things from our workshop floor that will make you the envy of your peers. Options include;

    1. a 250g bag of air
    2. a 1kg bag of coffee bean husks. gret for, um, nothing.
    3. the entire contents of my dustpan
    4. a new car **

**new car may or may not be a cardboard cutout.

Seriously, I have been sucked into the COTD luckdip a couple of years back, and it really was that bad. I took the time to contact them to encourage them to pull the offer due to it being such a blatant con. They offered a $5 credit - its still sitting there as a credit. Not giving them anymore of my hard-earned.

    Buyer beware.

    • wait … can't you use the coffee been husks for:
      - smoking food
      - mulch for pot plants
      - green waste for the compost heap

      :)

      • +2

LOL when i scrolled down i read it like this

        • smoking food
        • mulch for pot plants
        • green waste for the compost heap
        • Probably would get something off smoking coffee bean husks :P

can not sleep at night :P

  • +3

Better than a d**k in a box? I doubt it.

    • +3

you you want that because i can organise it??? ;)

  • +1

really is Crap Of The Day today…

  • +2

Ok I got my stuff today (it actually arrived yesterday but I wasn't home to accept the parcel). And when I opened the parcel, I was kinda superised… not by the quality of the stuff but by the quantity - instead of 4 items there are 6!!!

Included in the parcel are the following 6:

    1. a kids color comic book… not more than 20 pages and not bigger than half of an A4 paper;
    2. a torch with 4 AA batteries included - unknown brand raelly, batteries as well;
    3. a hat (the kind that kindergarten kids wear), brand name: piping hot;
    4. a rubik's cube-shaped picture frame;
    5. a case for ipod nano 4th gen;
    6. two double-wall coffee glasses - this item is actually the one that impress me, as I did want it when COTD was selling them for like $9.95

    That's all~

    • ..and a free cardboard box! ;-)
