Over, under, in and out, that's what shoe tying is all about. - Seymour Skinner

Society is doomed if we need an app to tie our shoes.

    • +7

It looks like the app teaches you how to lace your shoes with neat-looking patterns/configurations - not actually how to tie your shoes.

  • +1

I do not know how to tie my own shoelaces, thanks OP!

    • I recall being told by Aussie Soldiers that Green Berets can’t tie their own shoes.

  • We are near the end of days

"knowledge shall be increased" - I think we've documented everything now. We're done.

  • Aww shieeeeeet! Dis gon b gud 4 dem new Yeezys yo! Shit gon b lit AF!

For reals though, Why would you possibly need so many ways to lace up your shoes? You only need two types!

Is there an equivalent app to suit my velcro joggers?

  • +1

Hi all, if you go to a primary school now, you'll see most young children are wearing Velcro shoes. Whilst most of us would consider shoe lace tying as a simple art, the fact is that it is still a challenge to a lot of kids.

Maybe we should start thinking, why is there a need for such an app?

    • +1

Because they thought it was a good idea to charge $1.49 to teach people how to tie their shoelaces in different ways from an app.
Then they started thinking, why is there a need to charge people $1.49?

Suspect this app is more for 'fashion' purposes, but for runners lacing techniques can be used to assist with getting ideal fits and to help deal with feet issues:

..but yeah, if it's the ol' stock standard Skinner method, you have to wonder.

Great. Now we just need to learn some new ways to tie shoelaces. No matter how I tie them they always seem to come undone just walking around.

    • +1

      Double knot?

        • +1

Don't go for long walks. Simple.

    • Try tying your first knot the other way (right over left/left over right). If your bow doesn't sit horizontal when you pull the sides you've tied the foundation knot the wrong way and it will slowly untie itself. I tied my laces wrong until my late 20s.

  • Thanks OP, now I got new ideas for a new app, Step by step on how to:

    1. Wear shirt & jeans.
    2. Brush teeth.
    3. Wash clothes.

Make it free and put small ads, instant passive income.

This! I've been using "Ian's Secure Shoelace Knot" for at least a decade and even have a few family members using it too.

Oh for fs sake, I clicked on this thinking it was some Android nerdy tech that I hadnt heard of… happens all the time on here where I find out about cool nerdy stuff that Id never heard of and I ass-umed that shoe lacing some kind of programming lingo. But alas what a sad state of affairs we live

  • I might have laughed at this but for the fact that nary a week ago I learned a new way of lacing my DMs. The way in which you can't see the laces behind the holes. It works really well too.
