SNES Hori commander is @ 40% off too if someone need it for their nes/snes mini

    • Only downside is i think it requires batteries

      • +2

True but it really helps if your sofa is like 3-5 meters away from a giant tv.

and the plus side there is always Eneloops to be use ^o^

        • Upvoted for mentioning that most Holy of batteries.

    • hey mate does this work on switch? been thinking of getting a decent wireless controller for quite some time, but unsure which will work, and of course i'm going to spend sub 100 for another pair of undersized joycon.

      • Works for (designed for) switch, but just wondering what games this does NOT work with? The EB blurb notes may not work with some games - is it missing some buttons or something?

        • +1

          Missing sticks.

        • +1

Oh I thought the Hori only worked with the classics, Wii and Wii U … the adaptor in the box has the old Wii/Wii U connector on it.

        • @Pobman: this

      • Try https://m.gearbest.com/game-controllers/pp_848176.html?wid=1…

I got 3 of them and they have been great. You may have to update it if you are on a high firmware. I think I paid around $22 or so.

        • hey thanks mate! i think this is not bad! as i mentioned (to correct my message earlier), that i am NOT going to spend sub 100 for another pair of undersized joycon although the joycon comes with motion control, and i am happy that finally i found your suggested controller that also comes with motion control. now i am guessing (after reading some reviews re firmware update via usb-c data cable) , usb-c cable that comes with my pixel 2xl , is that considered usb-c data cable?

        • +1

          @0031nek:yeah that will work fine.

        • @0031nek:

I felt the same way as you about the joycons. Glad I could help :)

    • Does this work on switch?

    • It's also a useless piece of sh** for fighting games. You'd think after all this time getting a joypad with good diagonals wouldn't be a big deal, especially from a company famous for their fighting game controllers.

  • thank you, brought one

      You mean bought?

      • +2

        yeah….

  • Thanks op

  • Would this remote be suitable for Monster Hunter Ultimate Generations?

    • No. Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate needs analogue sticks which this doesn't have.

Used the older (but identical, outside of the color scheme) Wii U Pokken remote on my Switch last year when they allowed them.

The thing is fantastic, one of the best d-pads I've ever used, the buttons feel great, nice and large and a good feel to them, and the triggers… OH, the triggers. Now you've only got L1/R1 and the other two are relegated to buttons on the controller itself, but daaamn, I LOVE those big ass triggers.

I played Pokken's demo for about 5 minutes and moved on, but as far as using the controller for literally any other game that doesn't need joysticks, it's dope. Absolutely cannot recommend it enough for things like Shovel Knight or King of Fighters or Bloodstained, literally anything that doesn't need joysticks and this is my choice controller.

In case any Wii U owners wondering if will work with it - from reading comments on Amazon.com it won't.

    • +1

To be fair, on Switch, the remote can be used for any game and the actual OS menu navigation, on Wii U the controller is completely useless outside of the Pokken game.

I'm not saying the people are wrong, I'm just saying the remote was never able to do anything other than play the one game it was made for on Wii U, and these people might have just plugged it in, saw that they couldn't move the Wii U's menu around with it, and assumed it completely incompatible.

    • Most of us have hacked our Wii U's, so we can use almost any controllers we want.
I love playing Mario Kart 8 with the gamecube controller adapter ;)

  • Off topic would this work with android t.v. box

  • Wow, these controllers must have the biggest L and R buttons I have ever seen in my entire video game life.

Imagine the telephone set with big buttons for the elderly people and now imagine the L & R button.

Yes, it's that big but I really like the movement of the D-pad.

Overall it will be nice PC controllers for my kids.

  • thanks, grabbed 2.

  • Just curious, why would anyone want a wired controller? Is it just cause it's cheap?

    • that's why i got it , cheap enough that i don't care , and hopefully its d-pad will be decent for street fighter and tekken on pc

    • I've got a raspberry pi at home which I used as a vpn'd proxy box, but now i'm thinking of making it into an arcade device for children in the family, these are perfect for the use and not some cheap overseas ebay generics.

    • because…its Hori, if you have been a gamer since PSX you should know that HORI makes kick-ass arcade sticks and controllers.

They are one of the best gaming stick/controller/accessories manufacturers.

    • I needed a wired controller when my joycons got flat, when I was playing docked. Unbelievable that the standard switch doesn't come with wired controller capabilities.

      • -1

Not that unbelievable. What era you from?

  • You guys make me wanna buy one too. But what do I do with it..

    • +4

you must be new here XD

    • You plug it in!

  • I got the last one in hay Street perth

  • Thanks OP, bought one!

  • Just picked mine up in-store. Still scanned at full price, so make sure you tell them that it's 60% off.

Only just occurred to me, but holy shit, this would be the PERFECT companion for the upcoming 20 NES games with the online service.

Say what you will about online, and (profanity) knows I have and am completely against paying for online, but no matter what way you cut it, there's 20 NES classics coming to Switch within a month, and this remote has a kickass d-pad and nice big face buttons, as well as the ever nostalgic cord tethering it to the console.

I would say if nothing else, if you're getting the Switch online service, it adds even more value to an already great remote. I was on the fence about paying for online since I never actually play anything online and the games are hecka old, but (profanity) it, to play through Super Mario and Donkey Kong with this beautiful little remote, (profanity) it, worth the money.

    • +2

      Pro to the f'n fanity

      • Boi, that's me after a few runs through the family friendly filter.

    • Does it add that much more value than regular joy-cons or Pro controller? Or even GameCube controller with the peripheral?

      • +1

Well, more than the Joy-Con, I'd say yeah. I'm not one of those people who go nuts over the "d-pad" on the Joy-Con, I actually quite like it, so I'm not bashing it, but there really is no comparison and sometimes it's just nice to have a normal ass d-pad, which of course the Pro Controller already has too, but the Pro Controller retails for around a hundred bucks, this is 16.

Compared to the GameCube controller, it's an absolute no brainer if all you're after is the d-pad. That thing is 50 bucks, then you gotta spend 30 on the adapter as well, 80 bucks for (I'll be crucified for this) one of the most uncomfortable and ugly controllers I've ever used, that also happens to be over 15 years old at that? Well, no thank you.

        • Thanks for the explanation mate, I only ask because I have all that above, so thought would I possibly need this? Looks like it's for those who haven't got that stuff and can get this on the cheap!!
