Phuket should be unpopular as it always floods down south and up north this time of year.

Full service Royal Brunei also cheap and no extras for food, baggage.
Sadly after end of October all their flights to BKK will necessitate a night
stop over in Brunei. There will be short stop overs on Bkk Mel return flights.

    It's normal for a national airline to stop over in their country along the way to your actual destination. e.g. Singapore Airlines will stop in Singapore first.

re Royal Brunei change of timetable. Think it has to do with their change of flight to London Heathrow. From end of October their flight will go direct from Brunei to LHR whereas it used to go via Dubai. Seems to be long term change.
