  • Isn't this in USD? Also taxes assessed at delivery. The $20 postage option states that it includes taxes and duties. Good luck to those that get one.

Yeah its USD so it equates to about $91 AUD

    Yeh just realised

the website added GST when i bought

Adding a cheap item, pair of socks or a hat takes it past the $50 free shipping mark, so it becomes a little cheaper. Still probably cheaper than anything you can get here

Edit: added a pair of socks (US$3.49 with extra 30% off applied at cart), total (inc. gst and free shipping) came to A$79.23 charged to 28 Degrees. Plus 6% cashback via Giving Assistant

Added a cap for 2.99. Came down to 2.09 after 30% off. So all up 56.20usd with tax.

Just bought myself a father day gift 🤣 Thx OP 👍

    • +2

Ditto 👍 I received no Father's Day gift this year 😢 I don't know why I'm continually surprised by this, as I have no children.

  • site is down?

Guaranteed to entertain you for 3 days.

    • Less, I was entertained for 5 mins

this is 100% true. when i bought the bb8 sphero ages ago, i tried it out once that afternoon, and have since forgotten it even exists. more of an (expensive) mantle piece

if it came to $50 locally then i would get the r2d2

      • +2

Same here. They need to add some more AI to the app, then these droids would be great. If they used the phone camera for AR integration, the phone could track and map where the droid is in the room and guide it to avoid objects and appear more intelligent. Could even have AR games so the interaction was a lot better. Imagine playing virtual tic tac toe with BB-8 or setting up a virtual AR maze he has to find his way out of.

    • Check out Spin Master's BB-8.

Interesting to hear it's back in EB Games. It was actually being cleared back in April for $99.

I bought one online, except they sent BB-9E instead (same price) and they couldn't exchange it because all stores had been cleared of stock. Ended up getting R2 from a JB Hi-Fi (or Apple Store?) for $160.

This R2-D2 is a very realistic rendition.

      Only BB-9E

Are you okay? Have you spoken about these issues with your therapist lately?

Also, you might want to consider reading this: http://www.abc.net.au/news/science/2017-02-27/plastic-and-pl…

Greenhouse gases aren't the only way plastics affect our planet. If you eat seafood, you're already eating it.

      • How big a crowbar did you need to buy to shoehorn that rant into this deal?

        EDIT: Meant for diji1

  • This or the little bits r2d2 from Harvey Norman for 88$?

  • When it comes to stuff like this which is app-controlled I am skeptical of how long I could keep it for, since if once they don't update the app in the future or take it off, I'll just have a relatively expensive model for display only.

    • The app is what let these down. They need to add AR integration, then these would be great.

  • Spin Master BB-8 is what I need.

    • I've got that as well as the U-Command one. The follow me mode is a bit cumbersome but yeah the Spinmaster one is better.
