Before anyone ask, this is a USFF version so it won't be able to take additional PCIE cards. (1050ti)

    • +7

      or 3.5" hard drives

        Thank you and thank you!

    • +2

Absolutely amazing little work machine though.

      • typing this comment with one now haha…I've been using the same machine for work for the last 3 years, I should request an upgrade

ERROR in title and description - 4590 processor!
(Title fixed, description still says 4690)

  • Is the 4590 the fastest cpu single core for this USFF setup?

    • i7 4770 is marginally faster. Pretty sure it's ok in USFF

      • pretty much every manufacturer offers to i7 variant in the USFF Models.

        • Offer me any usff or uff please. I really need one

      • Main thing would be having the best in built graphics.

The higher cpu's have much better Intel HD graphics compared to low end Intel.

  • +1

Would the onboard graphics card be able to handle Roblox?

    • +6

      It can only run Crysis

      • Shame ding ding Shame

  • +1

Is windows pre installed or do you have to install yourself?

  • new to plex but is this a good starting point for plex server?

    • +1

      yes

      • Can this handle 4k? I have read previously that you needed to install a 1050ti, which obviously you cant in this machine?

Always buy Refurbish / 2nd hand PC with 1 yr warranty

  • +9

    Not Phenom; Haswell.

  • Whats the warranty?

    • +7

It's a guarantee that it'll operate correctly and remain fault-free for a nominated period of time.

  • Hi Rep, i missed out on the last SSD config deal and had to order the 500GB config. Can i swap that with this unit on this deal which has the SSD?

    • -3

All orders have already been processed, sorry bud to late to swap over.

      • AH bugger, Really want that SSD unit. anyway thanks for replying. Do you know when the order will be ship as i have not received any communication from your company apart from the eBay's generic email.

    • I thought I had purchased the 128GB model. The listing must have been updated during my transaction. Rep posted at 7:30 on Friday night that stock was gone for the 128GB model. My purchase confirmation shows 7:31.

I messaged the rep about 2 hours later (on OzB) when I suspected I had been assigned a 500GB HDD model. I heard nothing back (and still haven't). I then messaged direct to their eBay store at 9:30AM on Saturday requesting to confirm a 128GB SSD model or for them to cancel the order. I got a message from them this morning saying the order has been processed and would not cancel the order. Frankly, I wouldn't have bought it with the HDD.

      Not very happy.

      • Had an awful experience with this company also. When a similar deal was posted I shared my experiences and was shouted down.

I would not recommend buying anything from this company.

      • +1

Check your paypal transaction. It should show the actual item you purchased. The listing automatically changed to the 500gb version once the ssd's sold out.

  • Hey rep does a low profile gfx card fit in the x16 slot?

    • +1

This is USFF, won't fit any PCI card

I literally chuck one of these in my backpack to take to work. They're tiny things.

      • What do you use it at work for?

        • Working in IT, I basically just use it as a faster office computer. My use is very below what this machine is capable of though - the CPU is on par with a lot of the high-end laptop CPUs seen today.

    Really tempted to buy one

But then realise I have no reason to get one

    The age old OzBargain conundrum.

    • +4

      Buy now, question why later.

  • hi all - will this be able to handle 4k without being able to add a card?

    • 4k what? Video playback?

It'll manage, but don't expect anything too demanding to work

  • Wondering if this would be useful in a MAME cabinet. My MAME cabinet set up about 10 years ago has a similar sized unit in it but it has seen better days, runs Windows XP and has some bios issues when booting up that keep irritating me…. was thinking about getting a retropie to replace it but maybe this provides better grunt?

    • For emulation, you'd want to get something with a better processor. Not sure about Retropies, but this would easily handle anything until the Dreamcast era.

    • This box will run MAME great. Hugely more powerful than raspberry pi with retropie (but on the flipside the rpi uses a tiny fraction of the power and can easily be left on 24/7 without worrying about power usage)

    • I'm looking for something that would run MAME as well. Only games from the 90s era so I don't think it needs to be that powerful. I'd like it to double up as a Plex and NAS server and be able to leave it on 24/7 without it consuming much power. Any ideas?

  • I got a few questions;

It comes with a HDMI port?
Can I run Light room or ON1 along with photoshop with ease on these systems?

I am looking to buy it specifically for my photo editing work :)

    • Looks like it has at least Displayport, which means that you will be able to adapt to HDMI fairly easily.

The processor will be decent enough for photoshop / lightroom, but the integrated graphics will leave something to be desired if you've got lots of effects or anything.

      • Do you know if you get a Display Port -> HDMI adaptor if it also passes through sound?

        • +1

          Yes it will.

I like these USFFs for HTPCs.

        • @coxymla:

          Thanks coxymla.

Looking to replace my ageing HTPC.

    • 2x display port on mine, no HDMI.

  • Curious as to what people are using this for? So that I can convince Mrs Vietbargain that we need one.

    • I reckon simple word processing/emailing/browsing/financial reporting use.

  • OP, your picture is incorrect.
You have an image of the Dell Optiplex 790

  • So what were the condition of the last lot of PCs?

    Good?

  • -6

All computer components have a lifespan so unless there is warranty for these PCs, I don't see how $261 for a 4 yrs old PC is a bargain?

OK even if it is used as a backup PC to run Plex or NAS, that processor is an overkill - you can pay $50-$80 more and build a 7th Gen Intel Celeron (or even Pentium second hand) PC that has a lower power consumption brand new that will guarantee to last you at least for the next 5 years - that to me is better value (though it does cost $300ish)

    • +2

Really you can build a whole PC for $300? with ssd/slim case etc?

    • And another downvote from me

    • Fire up PC part picker and show us then? Bang for the buck these are hard to go past and are pretty solid little machines.

  • hey guys should I get this for a HTPC set up? I want to be able to use this as a Plex server as well. any advice would be appreciated, been looking for a HTPC system for a long time!

  • So here I have a question. Can I just take out all the parts in this case and put them into a standard case? I am asking because I have an old full size case and a gtx960 siting in the garage. Thank you guys.

    • +1

Not really, the motherboard is a custom size/shape. Probably customised power connectors as well.
And no slot for your graphics card either.

RAM, SSD, DVD drive, maybe CPU would be all you could actually use.

      • Thank you for your helpful information.

    • +1

Mine has no full-size PCI, is same model as this as far as I know.

  • Anyone know if this has an M.2 slot onboard like some of the USFF Lenovo models do?

    • +1

No m.2 that I can see inside mine (got on an older deal).

    • +1

M.2 only came out on Z97, this is a fair amount older than that.

  • Anybody know how quiet these are? Do they have a noisy fan during heavy use?

    • Couldn't give you any exact answer, but I've not had any issue with fan noise at all under decent loads in an air-conditioned room (ie video encoding). Not sure if this would differ in warmer rooms on a warmer day with even heavier loads - haven't tried.

  • Could anyone say what RAM these machines are running and what configuration i.e. 2x 4GB DDR3 1600 would be my guess, can anyone confirm?

    • Mine has Samsung m378b5173db0-ck0

      2x 4GB DDR3-1600Mhz

  • Anyone having issue applying the code?

  • Would I be able to use this monitor. It says hdmi Input. Or do I need an adapter of some kind ?
