Rubbish, you have no idea what you are talking about. Even more and more netbooks are being released with HDMI.
All depends on what you want from a laptop and what tasks you need it to perform.

All laptops should regardless of whether they are basic/high end at least have HDMI in this day and age, besides, HDMI is really quite similar to DVI except it can carry audio as well.
A Core i3 730m laptop just under $499 is an excellent deal.

I think on a laptop like this it is even more important to have hdmi so that when you are using it at home you are not stuck to the small screen. When I use my netbook at home I always plug it into my desk monitor.. I feel claustophobic otherwise. hehe.
