    • Except he missed out on the cpu. How many would have known A in that title stood for AMD?

I actually found them but didnt post as I wasnt 100% sure that the ones quoted on overseas reviews would match what was sold here in AU, hence the direct paste from the BIGW sites of 99% of the info…..shooting people down for doing something for you results in people not posting you, stop ya moaning

Crap! Good Guys have an Intel i3 emachaine for 498$ after cash back and even less if u pay cash. All specs are the same too

    • link?

    • i3 built-in graphics is no match for the ATI radeon that comes with this baby.

edit: and more to the point you're not making an apples to apples comaprison. The i3 will suit some people better and some people worse than this model.

    • All specs are the same too.

The MSI has 3GB vs 2GB RAM for the emachine. The MSI laptop also has a 2 year warranty—an extra year's warranty can be worth around $100.

You have to go through the trouble of the cash back redemption process at the Good Guys to get $79 back. You're actually paying $578 up front.

There are far more Big W outlets around than there are Good Guys, ie. more convenient for some people.

Definitely not worth a negative from you because you have not found a compareable deal better than this one.

      • Plus you could use it for a week and return it to BigW no questions asked, The good guys would drag it out for months

It's a good buy if you want a laptop with a bit of graphics processing grunt. You still won't be using it to game any time though. Minecraft — maybe.

However for non graphical work, a Core i3 330m will wipe the floor with this AMD cpu and use less power to boot.

    Passmark:

    Intel Core i3 330M @ 2.13GHz: 1952
    AMD Athlon II P340 Dual-Core: 1304

  • how does the Athlon Dual Core P340 compare to an intel corei5 cpu?

    • -1

i would a ssume it wouldnt piss in the same pot! waiting for the new 2nd gen i5!

    • No where near. The P340 is a budget AMD processor. It would compete in the range of a Intel Core 2 Duo T series processor, but won't hold a candle against a Core i3 or Core i5.

A Intel Core i5 430M @ 2.27GHz is roughly double the performance of this CPU.

Never said its wasnt rygle u donkey! but if ur gona get a goat at least know what ur really getting for ur money. Just cos they chuck in a graphics card doesnt make up for the fact that its a crapola CPU. Personally if u have $500 budget to spend i wouldnt buy a laptop cos ur gona get a piece of crap anyways.. but ppl should know that at least u can get an i3 and not have to settle for an CRAP-M-D

sigh, its a laptop for 500 bucks, the specs are average, but its good enough for everyday computing. Sure the emachine might be better in some areas, but is anyone seriously considering doing anything demanding on these 500 buck machines?

  • out of stock online and none near me :(

  • The deal's ok; good if you're looking to get something soon, but there are deals that beat this now and then.
